With over 5 million hits per month to this site, it is quite cumbersome to just pick out the bad

In Reply to: Forum helped with my decision about OSI - & I am refusing their offer

posts, so the entire thread goes. Besides that, generally there are a LOT of posts within a thread that are inappropriate.  Please don't think for a moment that I'm only referring to OSI.  I am referring to ANY company.  I am only asking that posters back up what they are saying with FACTS not innuendo.

Wasn't it something like 2 million lines a month? Just a
GYNORMOUS amount? That adds up to like supposedly 66,667 lines a DAY!! And there is no work? Where did it all go?
Thanks. I have noticed some hits on the job board have over 1000 hits and I am thinking oh my!
:
if you had to pick one; medscribe or CyMed .. who and why would you pick em? considering both

because C-phone accounts are cumbersome...and assigned
nm
Other posts have called it cumbersome and slow.
xx
Did not like. Slow, cumbersome, no way to track line counts.

:+

Older posts said the software was cumbersome and not MT friendly and that the pay was low. Hope
s
I would not work for OSI because their online transcription test was so cumbersome w/o foot pedal
It took me 15 minutes to transcribe 30 seconds of dictation because so much time was wasted rewinding and fast forwarding with the mouse. I did not want to work for a company that could not even figure out to make the online test reasonable.
I worked part-time for them VERY briefly. GEMMS system is cumbersome sm

and difficult and slow to work with, I thought.  I love cardiology, but this was not a good experience.  Perhaps others have had more positive expeiences with the company.

If you like cardiology, you might try Cardioscribes.  I think they are a great company and the system is easy to use.

Good luck!

HITS platform.... sm
Didn't you get a HITS manual with your computer?  You should have.  It's a very user friendly program, "if" you get to use it.  I was trained on HITS and then ended up working on two accounts that didn't use it.  I was there a month and all I did was train, train and train.  Not for me.  I'm not saying that happens to everyone.  I'm pretty sure most of their accounts use HITS.
No, but they had 342 hits on their ad, so I'd expect
they took the weekend off and won't contact anyone until later this week.
Hits just mean people looking. I always look,
s
I am and have been on the HITS platform......sm
since I was hired by Healthscribe.  I love the HITS platform, and I am being told that Cornerstone is going to be a combination of both HITS/TWS, but as my TL puts on, on steroids.  She seems to think it is going to be a great thing.  I hope it is as good as she says, because I am really quite comfortable working in HITS.
I tell ya, when it all hits you the fall sm
is going to be much harder! I only hope folks won't be as unfeeling to you as you have been.

Folks do what they have to do to stretch a dollar my dear. It just hasn't hit you yet but it could and it a much bigger way.
I know personally that when DD hits the bank, I can take it out right then and thus withdrawals can
It does not take 3-5 days. That just is not so.

As far as it being the MT's fault, it is the MT's fault only for relying on their DD to be there! Sorry, but when DD is supposed to be in there, it is supposed to be in there. I have two bank accounts, one is for bills only and that is the one where the DD hits. If my DD were late, I would incur charges. Luckily I work for a company that pays on time and you can always rely on them to have that money in the bank on time.

Unfortunately, some of you work for the MTSO who apparently cannot do that and apparently there are more than one of them.

They should offer to pay your late charges due to their lack of responsibility. However, when the MT has had this happen once, I would hope they would learn their lesson than to rely on doing it again because apparently the MTSOs that do this have no conscience.
I think it's when a post keeps getting hits after it's already reached a certain # of viewings

Have to agree. Tax time hits companies, too.

EHR Deinstallation Trend Hits Phoenix

Publish Date: 7/30/09 - By Allison Tsai

Source: Medical Economics

Though the Phoenix area has seen a high adoption rate for electronic health records, it also is the first region to experience a “deinstallation” trend, according to a HealthLeaders-InterStudy report.

The trend to cancel EHR contracts, especially prevalent among smaller physician groups, is a result of training, functionality or affordability issues, and highlights the need for an affordable solution, according to the Phoenix Market Overview report.

The rapid adoption of EHR technology in Arizona stems from a 2005 executive order by then-Gov. Janet Napolitano, requiring that all healthcare providers install an EHR by 2010. The top hospital systems in the area, Banner Health and Catholic Healthcare West, along with several others, have installed EHRs, but are struggling with the same financial constraints as the small physician groups. EHRs require a significant financial investment in addition to expensive upgrades, according to the report.

Long-term benefits of the technology include reduced transcription costs, lower chart and file storage expenses and the potential for reduced premiums on malpractice insurance, but in areas like Miami, where the recession is threatening the profitability of hospitals, EHR installation has been slow due to lack of funding for such projects.

Chris Clancy, a market analyst with HealthLeaders-InterStudy, says Phoenix may be the first area to experience the deinstallation trend due to its aggressive adoption of the technology, but will likely not be the last. In addition, physician shortages in Phoenix make it difficult for doctors and staff to carve out time for EHR training, Clancy says.

Ex-Spheris MT, HITS is a windows-based application...

you will type in.  It is very, very user friendly.  Frankly, it is the only aspect I miss about working for Healthscribe/Spheris.  Good luck!!

good, let them do all the India work, and take all the hits for law suits...
I wish they would monopolize the India market and totally stick with that...

I also posted an article about this a few weeks back, even with pictures of the offices in India (lot nicer than here).

hope they put all their money into it and then when technology takes all our jobs, they will have nothing.

Medquist, hate it or not, has invested rather in the technology, thereby will be the leaders in that. if I worked there I would train and learn everything I could about working with that technology because that eventually, in my opinion, will drive even Indian MTs into unemployment.
You are still wrong to thank your company on an MT site, appropriate is your site.
NM
Thanks a million!

You're a dear.  :)

A million thank you's for saying that
It's so refreshing to hear someone who stands behind the name anon to really believe in what they are saying. It gives you TONS of credibility. On behalf of the entire EDUCATED Mediscribes/Cardiscribes team (including the Indian employees, as you call them) thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sparing us the embarassment of being associated with you any longer.
There are so many hits on the job board for jobs that I wonder if people are qualified that respond
or just send in a resume if they are not.  Would be interesting to hear from some of these companies what type of response they are getting.
And furthermore, you can see this hits a sore spot, this giving people backup accounts and then
you run out of them is also ridiculous. There you sit making less and less money and trying to learn multiple dictators and then guess what, that dries up.  Once you know that is what a company is doing, then you go to your alternate plans and never look back.  Sooner or later when MTs either decide no more or they get multiple jobs and they have to keep hiring and hiring which impacts their quality I am sure it will settle down.  At least, I would hope so although it doesnt seem to be right now.  Could be because of sending work offshore not sure.  All multiple backup accounts do is make it harder to make money and you have more problems with QA and your own quality because you just keep popping in and out of all these accounts that you really dont get to know that well.  Knowing an account well is the best way to go for quality and line count for sure, NOT multiple accounts.  All that does is help the MTSO keep the work caught up to the exact MINUTE.
That's about 17 million more than he's worth. nm

Thank you a million times over - sm

I thought I had simple questions but after all those posts, you'd think not!  LOL!

I really appreciate your taking the time to answer my questions - so thankful!  Have a lovely weekend :)

I just won a million dollars!
I found one on her computer! Now I can buy out Medquist and return it to pre-2006! No more ASR, no cesspool and each of you only will have one primary and a secondary and generous quarterly bonuses which you can actually GET!
2 million lines
Exactly, that is what I asked and got some lame answer.  No way should we be running out in the morning.
The $70 million powerball

That's a lot of money.  $70 million with an estimated cash payout option of $37 million which means after taxes you bring home approx. $19 mil or so.  Yeah, that's a lot of money.

I keep trying.  Someone has to win it.  It may as well be me!!!

fatcat... you are one in a million.

I really do appreciate everything you have told me.  There are so many people on this board so quick to judge and then every now and again you come across a genuine, quality person such as yourself.

I know my schedule is difficult to work with, but these companies never seem to give anyone a chance to explain them, not that it would really matter.  They expect 1200 lines a day for full-time, but I have always done that in part-time hours (5 to 6).

To me, that is all that should matter.  They want 1200, I will give them that, but I cannot be put on a schedule for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.

I have only had 2 transcription jobs in 13 years, the most current one with the Q for over 11.  I have always done well on testing, from what I am told my last test I took for a company was 99%.

I just don't understand how all of you girls can comit to working every Saturday or every Sunday.

Ok, I am done complaining.  I am hitting the job search full force again.  Thanks so much again for your kind words and thoughts.  You are in my prayers.

PS... I am probably way older than your daughter, I am going to be 39 in May.  :)

Thanks a million! I'll be back....
.
Wouldn't matter if they had a million MTs.
lol
Wouldn't do QA again for a million dollars. (sm)
Biggest challenge - keeping your sanity while having to fix crappy work over and over and over again while meeting impossible deadlines for really low pay. Believe me, if you can be an MT, you'd be better off financially and mentally. Oh, and no one is going to pay me a million dollars, so I feel confident in saying that. :) Why on earth would you want to transition to QA? Did someone tell you it's a step up??? Reevaluate that statement by searching the archives for commentary on QA problems. There was a long discussion on here a few weeks ago about it. Good luck to you. Choose wisely!
And the MILLION dollar question is...
Does Transtech get work from Dictaphone? Does Dictaphone have any control over their workload?

THAT is what this entire thing is supposedly about...

Hmmmm, I guess we'll find out when the court case is complete.
Transcend bought MDI for 16 million. sm
So I guess they have to make some of that money back. I am pretty discouraged too as I have heard absolutely nothing from Transcend about what my pay is going to be. Guess does not look too good right now since they cut pay for their existing employees. Never been able to get a straight answer about the range of what I will be making, so assuming that means it will be low.
I was told several new accts are coming on this month and also next month, so
I'm not worrying.
Pay period goes from 1st of the month to the 15th, then 16th to the end of the month. sm

So, I guess you could maybe get by with less than 1000 a day, although the incentive tier would make it worth your while to do a bit more.  I am using ExText, and yes, I find it easy to use, but then I used it for a year with another company.  I think their other platform is Mongoose, and I know nothing about that, so really cannot say.

Yes, they are hiring now.  In fact, there is a $500 sign-on bonus.  I think it is all just acute care.  I'm sure they would love to have someone with your experience.  Rhonda Durham is the recruiter.  I am sure she could answer any of your questions.  I am happy to help too, if I can, but I am relatively new.  The account I am working on is mostly psych, it seems, and I am loving it.

Another nice thing, their benefits start after 60 days, not 90 like most.

Good luck to you.

and scoff all you want... my half million house says it all.
xx
Maybe one in a million MT's makes that but I still find it hard to believe.
It looks more common to me that people who do MT are at the doors of destitution. Just read these boards! We have people who can't even buy their kids Christmas gifts, we have people who have had their car repossessed, we have people in debt up to their eyeballs. Seems to me that's the norm by the amount of postings of that type.
Thanks a million times to all your kind posts!
I feel like I hit the jackpot. LOL. Now, I am exhausted from the stress of worry. It will be nice and I won't miss worrying for the rest of my career! :)
Thanks again.
I read $20 million, over $16 mil cash up front
In other words, serious dough.  I'd think a wee bonus to us 500 galley slaves might be in order.  Had many of us not been told ''MDI does not send work overseas, Dorothy would never do that'' when we were hired, I doubt we would feel so betrayed.
Transcend Services bought MDI for $16.2 million.

I didnt realize it was that much!  No wonder they feel no loyalty to their old MT's!  ,,,everybody has a price I guess.

The $16.2 million purchase price consists of $10.2 million in cash payable at closing (less any existing indebtedness assumed and plus or minus certain working capital and tax-related adjustments), $2.0 million in cash payable after receipt of interim financial statements and audited financial statements for the last two fiscal years, a $2.0 million note payable to the selling shareholder due one year after closing, and $2.0 million of Transcend common stock (119,940 shares). The initial cash portion of the purchase price is expected to be funded using a combination of cash on hand and up to $7.0 million in bank term debt.

Larry Gerdes, Chief Executive Officer of Transcend, said, MDI's strong presence in the mid-Atlantic region significantly expands Transcend's national footprint. We are confident that MDI's culture of excellence and total commitment to customers and employees will help ensure the success of this transaction. We look forward to working together to integrate our operations over the next several months.

I recognized that we needed a larger partner to achieve our long-term growth objectives, said MDI Chief Executive Officer Dorothy Fitzgerald. A critical concern for me was to find a partner that recognized MDI's potential and was committed to providing excellent customer service. I am convinced that Transcend is the best partner for MDI, its employees and customers.

Sue McGrogan, Transcend's President and Chief Operating Officer added, I have known Dorothy Fitzgerald for years. Like me, Dorothy is committed to outstanding customer service, which is reflected in her high customer retention rates. In her new role, Dorothy will be President of our MDI subsidiary. She will report to Leo Cooper, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, in order to focus on driving future growth, particularly in the mid-Atlantic region.

I'll say! Wrote off $82 million as "goodwill impairment"

Thanks a million!! I guess the spread sheet confused my eyes. :)

I know this question is asked a million times but who is good to work for
anymore?  I have 13 years experience and I work at a hospital part time but I know I can make more on production plus I need the flexibility because I have osteo in my back and other health problems that require me to kind of break it up if you know what I mean.  I'd only like to work 4 to 6 hours a day, make a decent line rate, and have flexibility of having a span of time within which to get my lines done.  I don't need benefits but do not like IC status; I prefer statutory.  Any ideas?
TransHealth starts 1st day of month after month SM
you start, BC/BS, good rate on single, don't know about family premium.
Last month was slow on my account..but this month (sm)
we've been swamped...
The new insurance is very reasonable. I pay $200/month and they pay $200/month. sm
Unfortunately, I have had to use it a lot since it changed and I am very happy. They have covered everything.

The insurance is actually $80 cheaper per month than I paid at the local hospital, which is a large employer.

Take your pick..lol.
I was wondering, was Proscript the place that did not pay for macros? There was 1 company I worked for that had loads of macros but you did not get paid for them.
And they pick up dog-poo, too.
