Why would it be unusual to (sm)

audit someone during training?  Isn't that what training is for?  How would a person get out of training if their quality was bad?

Maybe I am misunderstanding this.

This is not unusual

Many companies do this however, there are many who do not.  Other companies may not dock you for errors, but will terminate you if you do not meet a certain QA percentage after a certain amount of time.  Please bear in mind that if you are assigned to an account with lots of ESLs and ESLs are not your specialty, you may have blanks.  Your overall score may end up being less than their required percentage of accuracy and you'll constantly get docked.

You may want to find out more about the account you would be working on if you were to take the position.  You have to be a very quality minded person.  This may not be the best deal for you if you are fairly new to transcription.

But this is NOT unusual...sm
MOST employers require their employees to work for a year before they provide paid vacation, not just transcription employers. EVERY job I have EVER had required 1 year of work before paid vacation, even fast food, so, this IS the norm! So, again....DUH!
Why would that be so unusual? nm

Don't know the company, of course, but this is not unusual. sm
In many of these companies, the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. I've been waiting 5 weeks to start with one company, but that's a record. It frequently takes 1-2 weeks to get everything ironed out. Don't panic yet, you are only one of many people the Acct. Mgr. is dealing with, probably many of them new. Usually you have a little while to get things ironed out before they will worry about you putting in all your time. Good luck.
Weird, but not all that unusual unfortunately.
This makes people feel even more disconnected. I think most people who work at home don't want to be interrupted by a lot of extraneous chatter - and perhaps a few would even be happy if they didn't hear anything from one year to the next but those are the exceptions.

A very different problem is when you only hear about your screwups - otherwise, you just get silence on the wire.

Both modes (dead silence and 'no news is good news') of communications violate everything we've learned over the years about work-related social interactions - and in my opinion, both of them are extremely unhealthy. In fact, they're both evidence of bad management.
You are indeed an unusual person
if you are happy with a $15,000 decrease in your earnings over 3 years....considering the price of EVERYTHING you purchase has gone UP, unless you know something I don't know.  My husband and I are on a fixed income and we notice the price of EVERYTHING goes up it seems on a daily basis except for our retirement checks.
A very unusual question. You on a fishing
expedition for compliments?
it is not unusual for a bank to hold a
check over a certain amount for up to a week.
Not unusual, but some of the crappy companies
force MTs to work weekend days rather than simply hiring part-timers for weekend work like most companies do.
Okay.. It is just so unusual to see anyone on this board so excited to hear about a new job.. Maybe
we've all just become too cynical. They must be newbies though. Boy oh boy has the newness of jobs wore off. I have been looking but I just never get that excited. I just think, oh, I just hope this one is better than the last bad experience. It is hard not to get cynical sometimes, isnt it? We all just want a place to call home and there is just so much disappointment out there. I was impressed that they were so excited and couldnt wait to here from PMSI.. oh well back to my drawing board. I guess time will tell if it is everything they were hoping for.
Nope, haven't noticed a thing different or unusual. All's well here. nm
xx
Most contracts said either party can quit or fire at any time. Would be unusual to get locked into
