I've mentioned before that I was impressed
I made it partially through training and my Mom passed away; so I had to postpone. Once I went back a few weeks later, unfortunately, the schedule was not the same, but I do not hold that against Transcend. The recruiter was very understanding and they wanted to give me another chance, but it was due to the workflow. I would HIGHLY recommend Transcend. They are the only ones I have dealt with as far as nationals go that were very communicative and very, very understanding. There will always be bumps, but if you have the big tires the bumps don't hurt as much! HAHA! Anyway, nice people, nice place!
Possibly a new Indian company. They've never been mentioned here before. nm
s
Whoa..been years since they've been mentioned! Is their website current?

The companies you mentioned
Company 1: Good company if you like ESLs. They have lots of accounts in areas that teem with ESLs. For them, I would choose QA.
Company 2: This company has had more conflicts than Carter's liver pills, and the turnover is outrageous. The problem is that they are always out of work. They overhire, then nobody has any work. Lots of big wheels. Public company and making millions but the MLS's as they call them don't get the money. They promote from within. They are going to speech recognition and cutting pay in half. Forget them totally.
Company 3 outsources like crazy and hires people who don't know what they are doing. Just started decent benefits. Moving to speech recognition. They do not stay in "touch" with the real workers who keep them afloat. If you are not an insider you will go nowhere with them. Forget them.
Company 4: I would shoot for a QA or editing job since you have the experience. There is some pettiness but you don't have to be that way and the managers don't expect you to be. Good benefits and stable company.
No. I applied, but I've applied SM
at a lot of places lately. I got an e-mail from a lady whose name starts with an M, but she didn't identify her company in the letter. She had my resume on the bottom of her e-mail, so I know it's someone I applied with, but I don't know which one!! LOL I'm thinking it's The Word Pros. Anyone else apply to The Word Pros and get an e-mail from M?
I'd love to hear information about them as well.
Just Me
You mentioned smaller companies, but MQ is the largest, so do you think thousands will be let go?

I've applied to a few with over 25 years' exp. in
thinking of trying that next time I apply. (And THEN asking for what my work is really worth!) Because even if I only had a few years on the job as an MT, if I'm proficient at it, then there's no reason to settle for chump-change pay. And that's all most MTs get these days. And what happens if your MTSO improves its software and your line count goes up substantially? Then they feel justified in lowering the cpl they're paying. I think the MT business is the most bizarre, dishonest industry this country has, outside of the tobacco industry.
I've applied to 15 places here in 2 weeks and

Anyone heard back from TransHealth? I've applied
I have 25 years of acute care experience and great references. Maybe it's my breath? LOL.
I applied for other positions when they've had them and never heard back. nm
s
I've applied with them THREE times and have never received a response - sm
and it's not because I don't have experience. I had been with Brand X National for 8 years (you can probably figure out who) when I applied with Spheris, and I never got a response. Sent a second ap, nada. Third ap, still nothing.
Through this whole time period Spheris had want ads scattered all over the net. I'll never, ever understand why they didn't get in touch with me. Their loss....I'm now working for a local company and completely satisfied.
They've been around for years. Some of us old-timers applied long
s
I've been a QA 15 years, applied to Focus, and was told
that they only hire QA on production now & no longer pay QAs hourly, so I said NO THANKS.
Read down the board. Mentioned just 2 posts below yours and mentioned
multiple times this week.
Are you guys for real. Where did you these jobs?? I thought I had applied at all ES companies and
not one paid that. I must have missed some.
Howdy! In the last year, I applied and got offered jobs at a minumum of 10 companies
and not ONE single place checked any references - not 1. Even the one who said they would, Diskriter, never made 1 call. Do you feel lucky??
I've heard only positive things about them. So, I applied, but haven't heard a word. Maybe fl

I've had to do this for several companies
I have forgotten the number of the form employers have to have signed stating you are a US citizen, but part of the form requires proof such as DL or SS...other types of ID are accepted. I have submitted a copy of my passport in lieu of my DL (in the middle of moving and DL did not have correct home address). This is a federal law, so it isn't anything unusual about the company you are going to be working for.
I can think of a few companies I've been with that
s
I've worked for several companies
and I would hate to be on a list like that - eeek!
I've heard of a lot of companies, what was L&H? nm

I've seen positive comments about many companies on here!
That's how I ended up where I did, from positive leads on this board regarding several companies that I was interested in!
OSI, however, was not one of them. No thanks. I'll do my own work, not have it shipped out to Punjab ro 5 bucks a day.
I've interviewed with several companies and none have asked for
SSN, birthdate, or any credit information. Unless you are in a position where you handle money I don't see that your credit history is anyone's business. I guess they could run it when you provided your SSN for tax purposes, but I would certainly not provide SSN before I had a job.
No joke. I've already written several companies
Have fun recruiting!
I asked for more than what I've seen other companies offer.
There was about a 2 second hesitation and then they said yes we can do that.
I've said which companies I'd recommend and didn't get flamed.
.
If you've switched companies, encourage the rest!
If you've decided to join us in the fight to keep our confidential health information and MT jobs in the states and not sent overseas, PLEASE let us know and help encourage others to do the same. I recently have and currently work for MDI-MD. We really need to keep encouraging each other to make the move. If you're not sure if a company outsources to either Pakistan, India, or the Philippines, just ask here. We'll help figure it out for you!
Let's not quit and let this just remain a hot topic for a week or so! WE HAVE TO COME TOGETHER! Remember, if you take a cent less in pay, it's well worth it to help an American MT-based company prosper and help these companies that are more concerned about money than Americans' jobs lose MTs and possibly large accounts that these American MT-based companies could have a chance at acquiring.
This is US TAKING A STAND! I just want to encourage you all to truly consider this.
The companies I know of that definitely don't outsource offshore right now after THOROUGH research are Keystrokes, Axolotl, MDI-MD (where I work). I'll keep researching. Just remember to post here if you are questioning a company. I'm still researching others and am including Pakistan and the Phillipines in my searches.
I'm contacting medical facilities in my area (Pennsylvania) to let them know that their confidential medical information could possibly be outsourced offshore and to consider helping keep jobs in America by researching their MTSO and hire a company that doesn't do this. If you feel inclined to reach medical facilities in your area/state, PLEASE do this for all of your fellow MTs. I know there is at least one of you in each state on this board!
Honestly, I've been hired by companies that didn't test me.
I did not like those jobs one bit. You start out immediately being stressed because they're out of TAT and desperate for people. The work quality was terrible and I mean worse than any other place I've ever worked. With your CMT credential, I don't think you'd have a problem finding a decent job.
Gee, I only make negative comments about companies I've actually worked for
and have the scoop on. I never said the line rate was high for this company, but nice fast software is what saves a good MT's line count. There are plenty of ESLs too, but no more than most acute care hospitals. So if you can't handle ESLs, you wouldn't want to work for TT (or most other hospital accounts). The new accounts are not teaching hospitals, which is good for me because I don't like doing residents. For now there is plenty of work and OT when you want it. So IMO a starting line count isn't the only important factor for how much money I can make, and certainly not the only factor in my job contentedness. They are fair and respectful and use good software, and those are the facts, not theories.
Can I asked when you applied? I applied a few weeks ago
and never heard a word and I have over 16 years of experience. I applied because I got a recommendation from a friend of a friend who loves working there..Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get anymore details other than that. I'm all for even one positive at this point on this frustrating job search. Good luck to you though and check back with us to tell us how the interview went etc. Thanks
It's the big O not the one you mentioned
.
Yes, it was mentioned... SM
and explained. Transition to new MTSO not going smoothly -- acct could come back at some point but DO NOT hold your breath! Bottom Line: Same-old, same-old -- Onward and upward, think positive, etc. No dramatic announcements other than big push to get everyone on same platform. :-))
EMR...should have mentioned
Our EMR system did cut down on some things for us typists. The medications and allergies were already in the patient's chart and therefore pulled through into the document (office visit letter) that the doctor created himself the day of the visit. If there were changes to those meds, he would dictate the changes. If there were no changes, he would state that. That was one less thing for us to type. It didn't change things for us greatly because we got paid hourly, but I'm sure that would cut lines out of someone who gets paid production. It was a very new concept for our office at the time. We had 21 physicians and 7 NP's so I can safely say half hated it and half loved it. Some doctor's refused to go completely paperless and would always ask us to print hard copies of the latest test results and that allowed them to not have their faces glued to a laptop and actually pay attention to the patient. I have not yet experienced the EMR/EHR system as an actual patient. I'm sure I would be really alarmed at not getting to spend time with my doctor and instead only see the top of their head as they are clicking around in my virtual chart. There are definitely pros and cons and I can see both. As for it completely wiping out transcriptionists -- I have my doubts. Dragon software years ago was supposed to have wiped us out as a profession and look what happened to that. I know VR is a huge thing, but that too is still creating jobs. I tend to be more optimistic. The only thing constant in this world is change and we have 2 choices -- embrace that change and roll with the punches or sit and complain about it and make things worse. Nothing is ever certain so I guess we will just have to wait and see. No one can predict the future.
It has been mentioned that some
companies have increased the cpl when the client requires VBC.
Even with some of the problems mentioned here,
nm
It was mentioned on this board that they -sm
never pay on time, so I wasn't in the least surprised when they told me about their payment method.
No one has mentioned my company yet
LOL!!! Sad, but true... Don't like my company either.
Several people have mentioned that they have
been hired for the account. I have also been hired for the account.
P.S. You mentioned archives
when you searched. I believe that will give you only older info. Try searching without going into the archives - you'll find some more recent posts, some negative, some positive. Just confirming again, though, that my experience has been very positive.
Do you have to use their computer still? Mentioned somewhere in
s
The ESL load has been mentioned as being a very
s
Me too - Transtech was never mentioned by OP
NM
Here's a few places that have been mentioned..sm..
Accuscribe, DSG, Echo Sten-Tel, Execuscribe (just started using it recently), InTouchMI, MQ, and VanBelkum.
No name was mentioned and how many people
even know who the recruiter was.
I don't get it. This Kim person is mentioned all
I guess you don't want to say anything against someone here. There is also Debbie mentioned for TransTech.
As I mentioned in another post...sm
what a great way for terrorist organizations to infiltrate the US.
exactly. That's why I also mentioned POOL
/
Quite a few posters have mentioned doing this..nm
Which one mentioned hourly?
Was it M.L. or was it the female? Just curious. I can't understand why they won't pull the escription MTs who don't have work - over to the Dictaphone accounts that they are scrambling to hire for.
It seems really dumb to lose some of those MTs because they are quitting due to no work and then be desperately trying to find new hires for the dictaphone accounts.
They are only making things worse because those lies are catching up with them and they will have fewer and fewer people applying because the word is out.
ok.. but names were mentioned x2
A name was mentioned x2 in the tts nasty post and was not removed...
It's so important to her that she mentioned it not once
Maybe it's just my perception, but that post came off as really pretty arrogant. I know things can be conveyed wrong in writing but she does not sound like she would be a pleasant person to work for, that's for sure. The whole tone of the post made me go EEK...
