Where have you been?

I have a pretty decent paying job doing QA, and had made it very well as an MT making very good money (in the past). I am talented and I am not bitter. However, where have you been? In the last 5-10 years there has been a steady decline of MT pay, a decline of respect for this profession and the skill that it takes, and I have also seen a lot of line fixing to force MTs to work longer hours and pound even harder. This has led to a decline in morale for all MTs and it reflects in their work and their attitudes. Do some research please and get the real scoop on this. The only way a gifted and educated MT will make it in this field is by going in to QA or some type of management position, if one can get that far; there is such a backstabbing line to the top, and many times when some do get there, they are there, they get there by means of deception and are even less qualified than the lowest performing MTs. Such a sad profession this has turned out to be.
