What it means: "Not enough US MT's who want to work

Posted By: for next-to-nothing." - sm on 2009-01-26
In Reply to: Not enough MTs? - sd

Reading between-the-lines:

'--- which is exactly what we planned when we dropped US MT pay, so we'd have an *excuse* to choose offshore first, US workers second.'

That eScription ad sure goes against 'Truth-in-advertising', doesn't it?

Moderator answered "Not True" which means she will not delete post with name and link (nm)

She probably means the lack of work.

Always had a ton of work to make up, but never had any work to make it up with...always got e-mails telling me everything looked good, BUT I needed to get my line counts...it was literally impossible for me on my account and my supervisor never got in touch with me when I e-mailed multiple times about getting other accounts. Got multiple e-mails about how good I was doing and just regular company e-mails daily, but never anything about another account. I got frustrated with never going over $300 every two weeks working 25 hours a week.

Other than that everything was great about the company.  No complaints other than that. Would still be there if that wasn't the case.

IC means they cannot tell you WHEN to do the work, only X amount
Otherwise by IRS definition you ARE an employee. I have been seeing a lot of ads lately where companies want ICs for particular hours, and I can't believe people fall for that. The definition of IC versus employee is simple: Who has control? If you have control, you are IC. If the company has control, you are an employee.
If there is no work everyday almost all day, that means how does anybody?
how can you meet any kind of line count? I can't being on and off all day.
i love EHR!!! means I can work from anywhere
x
80% of work is VR/20% is straight which means...
probably 95% is VR or it is an overflow account...but you are right, just saw an IC for 8 cpl for 3rd shift!!!
outsourcing means the work is sent outside the office
so if they do not have an inhouse transcriptionist, they outsource the work to a service or IC.  Off shoring is work done somewhere outside U.S.  However, most people do not make a distinction between the two. Outsourcing CAN BE offshoring and often is used interchangeably.
She means asking MTs to work OT but not record hours
not her own
Which means you can get a lot of lines by doing shoddy work? nm
x
I think she means clinic work in general.
x
"Just me" means just me and no one else, that simple, go to work
nm
Poster means work any possible time you can to get in your lines.
x
that should of been "not sure about"....sorry....
xx
sorry, should be "not" only
x
to "not a sheep"
AMEN SISTER! You sure can tell who is the butt-kisser on this board.. because most of the posts are agreeable to each other's except hers, the MT that says she is NOT a QA person or the Manager. You are right, that newsletter was ridiculous, it sounded like a kid about 14 who went on he first trip alone! After all, when the present QA person didn't get the job, wasn't she so upset she was "going on strike"... LOL...and to that person who talked about MTs being sued, cite me a case and I will reasearch it! Actually, what about the docs that dictate the wrong medications on the wrong patient? Is that the MT's fault? I THINK NOT.
More like "NOT NOWING" how
:{
?? If she's a recruiter only, how can she "not pay?"
Also, I learned a few years ago that there are some individual recruiters who recruit for several different MT companies.

I just don't understand what this post is about. Are you saying All Type doesn't pay?? How can a recruiter not pay? Confusing.
What's "not fair" about PTO?
There is nothing that mandates how much or how little PTO you are given. Fair sounds like an entitlement mentality. (I am an IC/SE and have no PTO but so what? I think that is perfectly fair. I knew the terms of my employmentment when I signed the contract.) Too much what's in it for me, not enough what can I do for the company. Just saying, that's all.
Why didn't you just write down "Not enough." nm
:}
upstateMT, what do you mean, they are "not registered in NY" - sm
I don't understand your post. Do you mean that this particular company will not hire people living in NY state?
What part of upstate are you from? :)
"Not very good" is an understatement.
nm
Also, for "not my experience" poster.

You mentioned in your post, I've seen damned little willingness on the part of many MTs to be flexible about their shifts or workdays. Everyone wants to work 9-5, M-F. This, even while they complain about the line rate when most companies offer rather handsome differentials for working evenings and nights.

If you used to make 14 cpl working Monday through Friday, 9-5, how willing would YOU be to work until 11 p.m., the only time to spend with your kids when they get home from school, for a meager quarter or half cent increase in line pay?  Even with these handsome differentials (what a joke) MTSOs are still only paying 8.5, 9, or 10 cpl!  And you whine that the MTs aren't professional because they don't want to give up their lives for that...compared to the 14 cpl or more they used to get???  Sure the doctors still dictate over the weekends and nurses still handle care over the weekend, but they are paid quite a handsome salary.  If you want dedication, skill, and experience from domestic MTs, PAY FOR IT!!  Don't whine that American MTs aren't out there.

Delete extra "not", too early! nm
x
Meant to say "not the poster you were talking to" NM
xxx
So obvious "Not KS". Why would another MTSO post

in a thread about another MTSO?  So full of BS.  We're not stupid; just underpaid.

Guess "not funny" is management! nm
nm
"not their problem" -- you signed the contract ....

seriously, they know that a significant number of new hires (particularly when the experience required is low) are not going to work out ... they need a constant supply of warm bodies to ensure the work get done ... Welcome to labor relations USA-style. There is no good-faith social contract. More and more companies see their primary purpose in existence as maximizing profits. Keeping their clients, if not happy, mollified, so they don't leave is job #2.  We may not even be in the top #5 concerns

Oops...meant to say "not acceptable"
:}
Can you say, "not an authorized representative", boys and girls?
NM
George says what he means or is it he means what he
but he sure does apologize in a way I've never heard a person whose company is valued at $8m a year apologize before and I've worked for companies who played who is the president of the week game! All I can say is that his personal interview about his high school reunion has a distinctly different style than his late January postings in which he degrenates the poster he tries to engage. Just remember George's quote we are misinformed.
I dont know what that means. I am an SE. I dont sit and wait for work I come back in when it is
there so I never had to deal with Amherst when there was no work because I just stopped working and did other things. My feeling is if this doesnt work there are other jobs out there.
What it means to me?
As an employee of Heartland, what my understanding is of what that means to me....I am still an employee, and more than likely the purchasing company will need me just like Heartland needs me now. Waiting for the conference calls to hear more information.
It means
That SoftScript screws everyone who has a brain between their ears.  The "newbies", and no offense intended, run the company because that is all they have because anyone with any experience has LEFT and rightly so.  They take your lines, make you think you are insane, have you work 24-7 to get a decent pay, and god bless if it is on time, which it actually has been x2 since they have been bashed on this board.  THAT IS WHAT ALL THIS MEANS.  The management is the worst, QA the worst, and lies beyond belief.  That is what all this means.  DUH.
It means they need it right now!
What stat. means to you as a Transcriptionist is that the turnaround needs to be fast! It would be identified in your accounts specs or your contract or whatever what the turnaround is.  Maybe it is an hour, maybe 2 hours, maybe 4 hours after it is dictated.  Whatever it is, it means that they need it back quickly. It has priority over anything else.
what does this means?

Im a newbie MT and trying to find a job.  I would like to ask what does this means as for compensation?  Is this good?

Compensation Information: Subcontract, 9 cents for 65 keystrokes

what does this MEANS....
xx
Yes, I think that is what it means. Not sure why they don't just say so LOL.
x
It means there is no more. nm
x
So that means
You can thank the politicians in DC (both parties) for passing NAFTA and giving us the SHAFTA...
What do you think this means?
I'm wondering what this new COO means for us down here typing away in the trenches.  Does anybody know anything about him?
for now usually means

until we get all our people making half what you do trained, then  . .  . .

SE means
statutory employee. Like an IC (independent contractor) you pay your own taxes, set your own schedule, etc, but as an SE, the employer pays part of the SS taxes. No benefits come with either IC or SE positions, other than freedom.
Thank you all, that means a lot to me
:)
exactly, which means
if you are going to claim yourself 100%, you need to present it also. Talk is so cheap.
OT for some means OOW for others

I normally work 3-11 pm.  I come on and look at my email.  The boss approved OT early this AM because we were out of TAT; by the time I punch in we're within an hour of dictation, BUT SHE LEAVES APPROVED OT UP THERE, and by 8 pm I'm OOW because all the day people got the OT (and are still on there wanting more) and I'm lucky if I get my 8 hours working secondaries putting in a 10 hour day.

How so? If they are IC, and know what that means,
x
OK, that means no. I'm sure if the SM

money was in your account right now, you'd be posting it all over the boards about how you were right.

My pay was in the bank on the day it was supposed to be-I wish yours had been also.

I'm not sure exactly what this all means
but I'll see what happens if i still decide to send my resume. Thanks for the information.
By all means, when you having nothing
proclaim yourself in charge of mtstars QA, fondle that typing police baton for a moment or two, then launch into full-blown attack mode and WHUP UP. FOP.
I would like to know what it means
NM
Know what IM means, but what do they
