What I look for....

I found your survey interesting and it seems to have conjured up some serious thoughts and discussion from some and, of course, the usual unprofessional immaturity from so many. I did have to chuckle at the one response who considered herself an old timer after being in this profession for 10 years!
After 30 years in this field, I have to say the following are what's important to me, in order of importance.
1. Respect. I know what I'm doing but I don't know it all. I'm willing and eager to learn new things and to push myself to exceed your expectations because, well, that's just the way I was brought up.
2. CPL. While I don't expect this to be off the charts, I have a minimum in my mind. If they can't or won't meet my minimum, it does not really matter what else they have to offer. The minimum I have in mind is what I need to pay my bills when completing the minimum line count. I do get the impression that companies feel if we want to make more money, we should just transcribe more lines. I'd like to see someone resurrect raises based on performance....or perhaps they are still out there and I'm just not getting them!<G>
2. Flexibility. Although I am an at-home employee, my blessed team leaders allow me the flexibility to complete my lines in the 8 hours of my choosing. In return, they always get more than the minimum required lines each day. I am so grateful to be able to work from home! My youngest son never went to day care and now I am always here when he comes home from school. For me, that's priceless!
3. Ongoing education. I love feedback from QA, weekly self-assessment stuff, etc.
4. Appreciation. I am told several times a day by various company people I interact with that they appreciate what I do.
5. Health insurance/vacation/sick pay. After working as an IC for several years and doing without these, I love having access to them now! Just about the time I've figured out all the perks available to me, they add something new!
I get all of the above from the company I work for and then some. We are a good fit. I have learned though that what one person wants from a company may be totally different from another.
My husband (a teacher of 25+ years who shingles homes in the summer) and I have made a general observation of late and it is this: We see more and more people who just plain don't want to work that hard! There is far too much whining, complaining, blaming, and excuse-making!! We grew up in a generation where you shut up, did the work, and basically, the rest took care of itself---the pay, the respect, etc.
Now, before you start flaming.....did I say I was talking about you specifically?
