What?! Do you have your number listed in the phone book?

This is the same info they can get out of the phone book, i.e., name, address, and phone number. This is not what they use to commit identify theft. They would use the general information from your resume to phish for more detailed information, such as SS# or bank account/cc account info. This is also what they would get out of your trash if for some reason you don't shred this info before you throw it out. Also, with past employers, they are only allowed to give basic info, such as length of employment and whether you're eligible for rehire. They can be held legally responsible if they give out detailed information about you!
I am very realistic that I'm not immune to identify theft, but also I know the law and know that I shouldn't be paranoid about someone stealing my identity. I take the appropriate steps to protect myself and monitor my credit report frequently.

There is no suite number listed. I did not see one.
945 E. Paces Ferry is a building full of offices. Where did you see the office suite number and what is it? I live in Atlanta and can go see for myself ---that is, if I have a suite number.
AND.. number they listed comes up as residential, isn't this a business??
Being nice but still smell a rat

Look in phone book or google for your area
Free legal aid or legal assistance. I know it exits in my area, southern California, I used it once.
This seems way out of line. Google attorney general for your state, here in California it is Jerry Brown and look for an email address and send in a question. I know I have read of scams in newspaper they have gone after, like the home loan modification scammer etc.
This is really really bad, so sorry it happened but don't give up, there must be a loop hole, how can that be OKAY??? Huh
Here is my advice.......RUN, do not walk to the nearest phone book. sm
Look up Legal Aid of whatever city or state you live in. They are a group of lawyers and paralegals that do work for free or sliding scale, etc. They will do all the leg work for you. You supply them with copies of your documentation and any other records you have kept regarding email, snail mail, or phone calls.
The most important thing... when you talk to and deal with these people, document, document, document. Document EVERYTHING
Then go to the Better Business Bureau and let them know what is going on.
Call your state Atty General's office and tell them what is going on and give them copies of any documentation you have.
Then I would quit. I know she probably can't afford to and it is experience she may not be able to get anywhere else, but as the post below said, they aren't going to give her a good reference anyway if they have not responded to her mail and phone calls.
Let us know how it goes. Keep us posted.
Have phone number for MDI-MD,
301-236-6770, have not been able to find web site. You can Google U.S. Medical Transcriptionists Directory. It lists transcription companies by state. You'll find MDI-MD there, but gives no web site. Hope this helps.
Do they have a new phone number?
The one in California is no longer valid, the one in Virginia just has a generic we are not available answering machine. What's up? Do you know what's going on?
Thanks for providing the phone number
I saw where you provided a phone number for OSi below. I just called them and ask them to check out your posts. I hope you've enjoyed working there. I also hope your mama knows someone at another MT company.
Transcend phone number
Sorry, I spelled it wrong and of course I meant TRANSCEND. It is Monday morning, after all.
Now you could use the phone number of an acting coach
so immature
Dept. of Labor phone number
For Labor Dept, your point of contact depends on where you live I believe. The number to start with is 866-444-3272. Good luck, and please post if you learn anything new. This has been going on for me for nearly a year and not resolved.
It says Navesys.com on the reply name by their phone number
I found them on the web, but not their company site. I found a write up they are combined 20 or more years of experience and they have MTs in the US and India. I am still a little afraid to apply, though, since I have never heard of them even on this board. Any input if anyone knows would be appreciated.
Provide it to the moderators along with TB's phone number to call. :)

That is a shame - maybe he/she will e-mail you again with the resume or phone number. nm

If they weren't Synthescribe, they wouldnt have the same phone number.
regardless of what they SAY.
I do not have access to her phone number. I can just assume she has already hired all the help
she needed, but thanks...
That is the legitimate toll-free phone number
for Transcend. The non-toll-free number is ******. Laurie
I agree, especially when they had to produce a phony number and gave someone's home phone with th
answering machine on. I also feel it's a fishing expedition. I guess we'll all soon find out...
Can anyone from the Ohio MQ office give me a contact person and a phone number to call so I can talk
to someone there without getting a lot of other people involved before I find out what kind of accounts they have to offer. I am interested in transferring from my current office but would like to speak with someone up there first. Even an email address of someone would help.
They changed buildings so maybe the phone number also changed...
They are still going strong...
Sted's Ortho Words, a lab words book, at least 1 drug book, and your AAMT BOS 2nd

Worked on C-phone for 10 years with 1 phone line
nn
C-phone - I purchased a c-phone from someone in Oklahoma but never got it. *sm*
First she told me her grandmother died. Then she told me she mailed it. Then she told me her daughter was having chemotherapy. Call me naive, but I thought she was sincere and cannot imagine anyone using their daughter as an excuse. If this is the same person from Oklahoma, I sure would like to know about it because now I want my money back.
What law? There's no law. There was a book (sm)
by a conservative that came out, which is what started this whole heightened nonsense over Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays. That book has effected a nice smokescreen to get away from the real issues plaguing the party, such as illegal wiretapping.
maybe in your book but not for an MT who is a
.
They are in my book.

What are you writing, a book
x
About the book/tests - have you not ever sm
done any in-depth research into the field you are working in? Had you done that, you would have probably ended up at the AHDI site at some point (creator of the BOS) or MTChat or here - references to BOS and tests come up daily. How could you have been working and not know there was a BOS?
Re The Book of Style
Just a short note to say, you really need to learn the BOS, even if you don't think you need to, and no matter what anyone else tells you, for your own knowledge, you need to know the basics--the style basics. We all had/have to do it, you are not alone. It's all a part of the game. :)
I agree 100% with you. The book is sm
correct 99.9% of the time. Once in awhile you will find something wrong, but then you just write it in and change it. You never know on the internet. I don't think there is any substitute for sitting down with a book and doing research. I do understand that in this day and age it is not cost effective to do that. That is why I still believe that it is a disservice to MTs not to be able to work in-house for several years before going home!
with a book you wouldn't need sm
suggestions now would you. There would be an entry and it would be correct. Also there are still some places that don't do voice files through the internet so it wouldn't matter if the internet was down or not.
Obviously there IS A place for the internet but to say you can't or won't use books anymore is crazy!
I don't have a second phone line ... cable modem for the internet, regular line for my C-phone.
If anyone wanst to get through to me while I'm working, they have my cell phone number.
And, as I said, some accounts are using wav files -- no doubt soon all of the accounts will convert. Hope so ... would make it easier (less expensive) to work when traveling. :-)
Lots of good companies out there -- hope you find one that fits :)
Compensation not listed
Has anyone else ever emailed a company when they do not list their rate of compensation only to be ignored? This really irks me. Why can't they just list what they are offering so we don't have to waste our time? This really annoys me.
Do they have an ad up currently? They were listed on the other Job board, but I don't see them
s
There are several companies you listed
that are not Indian companies. Several of them offshore, but they are U.S. companies.
There are a lot more than 3 jobs listed on
x
The two listed on ad post are former
They were there when I was working with YOG until Medquist ruined it all. They left because of all the garbage going on. I was hoping they could get things going strong with FutureNet.
You listed the basic ones
Let's not forget about burping, yawning, coughing, sneezing, chewing/eating....... the list goes on.
a 1-hr window is NOT flexibility in my book.

Those of you that have the book, can you figure out what she is asking. I'm very curious too. B

That's fast in my book. I can't do that. Great job! :) nm
s
Correct - I don't want to write a book.
If you want more information, please email me. I can only say what I experienced.
All those are Negative points in my book! Keep looking, please! nm

So? BOS is just book by ladies with too much free
x
I seen a book on ebay or amazon once...sm
and it tells you how to start your own MT business. I was looking for reference books and it popped up. I had typed in medical transcription books or something like that.
Go to the library and check out the book
do you a lot of good to read that.
Book of Style 2nd Edition
This says without the apostrophe is preferred but that the apostrophe is acceptable if that is what's dictated and/or the client wants it that way.
This book was written well before Vista came out. sm
So to say no may not be correct. I would email Cheryl and just ask her. HTH!
Hot darn it is in the Ahdi book.
The only time QA makes me pound my head is when they are correct and it can be seen in print.
Also, the new Nuance 7.5 VR is so smart. . .it remembers corrections you make. The whole page(s). Start planning. . .this one is top notch. . .better than the first. No more overtime. No more parttimers.
source, please? In my hard book
Webster's there is only an e, no y. Need to know if this has changed and I don't trust Google on everything.
Saw them listed as places to do internship (sm)
for MT training from Penn Valley.
just mainly wanting to know if the location was north of the river.
