to tourists ... has to beat this. I passed burnout a long time ago. I am not sure what the next stage is supposed to be. However, in the meantime, I have to make a living. Maybe I could open a margarita stand and compete with the little kiddies and their lemonade stands .. hmmm ....LOL
I am having a hard time making any money at Spheris. I am on an account with a large number of ESL docs. I love doing OP notes, but rarely get them. I make 9 cpl, about the going rate. I am looking for a new job simply because I hate the account I am on. The company is about the same as MQ, which is where I worked before coming to Spheris.
To the poster below who left Spheris and is making 3 cpl more, could you tell us where you work now?
Thanks.
I was wondering about Spheris recently.
They were an awful company to work for but I have noticed they have not posted here in quite a while. Maybe all their work is being sent offshore now. If you think you'll make money at Spheris, forget about it. Go to Wal-Mart and get a job, you'll probably make more money with them.
Advice from an MTSO. You will not be ready until you think you are ready and it takes more than MT
One of the most important things a service owner can have is confidence. You have to have confidence in yourself before anyone else can.
Transcription is only about 50% of what you need to know. Set yourself up right from the beginning. Pick a name, incorporate, open a checking account.
Then put the basics in place down to the littlest detail. Pick your colors, your logo, your motto.
Put together a business plan. A formal one. It will help define where you want to go and will add to the professional image you want to portray. Register with the state and your city or county.
Take a small business class at a community college - that is a HUGE help.
The other 50% is accounting, business management, HR, marketing, sales and legalities.
It sounds like a lot but it will pay off.
And be prepared ... as you succeed, there will be a lot of people that will try to talk you out of it but you need to be strong and realize that they did not do it so they have no idea. Get some thick skin.
I used to post a lot on here, and learned the hard way not to. This is the first time in a long time that I have come over here, but your post caught my eye. I do not post anymore, but my company has a lot of posts about it and you have to learn to put blinders on it and ignore the bashers. Hard to do but trust me, very necessary.
and the only difference between our group and yours is the platform. We are working under Webmedx policies and management is all from WMX. I was happier when we were TransHealth. The company is very money-driven now and we are treated like nameless and faceless people.
MDI merge
*Mergers are a natural part of the business world. Some companies win and some companies lose. There are only so many resources they can exploit and as these become more limited in the global market there is a higher chance that mergers and takeovers will happen. There are signs that an
impending merger will happen and many reasons why these mergers are enacted.*
yet another merge
a friend of mine went from Acusis to MDI. Like I told her, at least she knows what to expect this go round. Bottom line for you MDIers.. Don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths going forward. IMHO.
in the post below, why did no one tell the MT in the hiring process that they could not use ATT but had to have a digital phone service? Not trying to bash them, but have heard so many wonderful things, was just curious - has this happened before, or did this MT just fall through the cracks....Thank you.
MTs running out of work. I wouldnt think many are happy if there is not enough work. I know I am not.
I dont work for this company, but I do want to say...
I read all of the replies to your question so far, and it is nice to see all the support from your coworkers. All had very thoughtful and well thought out replies. Must be a nice company to work for, and I think you are fortunate to work there.
I would like to go wireless too.
Just curious, where do you work if you dont mind my asking. nm

Well, seems to me if you work you dont get paid eithr - sm
I do understand the dilemma, but honestly, start looking for a job that does pay during this period. I know of many companies that unfortunately play games with your pay and I've been watching one do this for five years now and remarkably he is still in business because while he does eventually make good on his promise to pay, he wreaks havoc on those who work for him constantly. People like this should be shut down, but as long as his contractors keep playing along with him, he will continue.
I dont think you will make more than that for clinic work.
I make 10 cpl at the Q, but have been there 12 years and was at that rate when my prior company was bought out.
There are people who make that, but not for clinic work and probably not for just starting at a company. I have been applying like crazy and the best I came up with was 8 cpl for Basic 4 and 9 cpl for straight OPs.
