Well, first you have to have the work to do in the first place, SM

but there is also the burn out factor and motivation. Guess that's true wherever you work.

Is it a nice place to work and did you have work all the time. nm
:
Great place to work. LOTs of work and (sm)
as the other poster noted, somewhat flexible. Make your lines and they pretty much leave you be. Communication is great, QA is great. The platform is extremely easy. There's plenty of work to go around and then some.
BAD PLACE TO WORK
I have hands on experience with this company and every negative post that you read about them is 100% truthful. There were and appears still are many many times when we didn't get paid on time, and the funny thing is it was ALWAYS somebody elses fault. She even went as far as having the bank call us one time and tell us it was their screw up.
I used to be able to make okay money when I first started, but then some things happened and we all got screwed out of work for some time and then things have gone down hill for her ever since.
The other thing that bothered me is the fact that we invoice her on one day for a two week time frame and don't get paid for that invoice for like four weeks. That is not right! Linda is using that money of yours to take care of Linda first.
She is a business run out of her basement, which shouldn't matter because I currently work as an IC and it is totally a different set of circumstances. Totally honest.
My best advice........unless you like to work for free stay away! Things will not change with her and I suggest not even giving her the benefit because you will regret it in the end.
It is still the place to work sm
I would rather have different accounts to type than no work. Medquist is just way ahead of most other companies technically. I don't care if they offshore anymore as most companies do these days. I learn something new every day and it is never boring. Just my opinion :)
No way would I work at a place that
it is possible I would not get paid even during the training period. Unless J&J is a company owned by Webmedx, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. Never heard of anyone who would fire you if you did not meet QA on a daily basis.
Great place to work!
I came to Phoenix after having worked at the 2 large nationals over the past 4 years. I'm SO glad! The do not pay for spaces but the headers/footers more than make up for that. The work is steady, same account (or accounts) and never runs out. The staff are great to work with, helpful and very thoughtful. Great place to work!
QT is not a good place to work IMO
nm
It's a better place to work, IMO. The support is better too.
They are separate companies.
It's an awesome place to work...
I don't know about Transcend, but I know that MDI has the MT's best interests at heart.
Have you worked at both MDI and Transcend? My account at MDI has about 40% ESL, but once you get used to them, it's not bad
FUTURENET is the BEST place to work!
For real, FutureNet Technologies is the best place out there to work! I have tried two other places over the internet, and BY FAR, FutureNet is the best! They have a lot of work. Their pay is ALWAYS on time, EVERY TIME. They have production bonuses, easy format (VERY EASY) and they do not ask for IM, so that means they are not bugging you all day. They email you, or every now and then call you, when something is needed...and they send counts all throughout the day to let you know how much work is in the system. The people are GREAT, easy to get along with and very nice. They may be doing some hiring. If so, RUN to them! They are the absolute BEST!
Great place to work
Wonderful people, great software, sound quality excellent, benefits affordable, don't really noticed the ESLs, maybe because I'm used to them, or maybe depends on the account. Pay average.
Terrible place to work.
I agree with the poster about the platform being terrible. Tech support is almost nonexistent, and after training, expect to be out on your own. They will tell you exactly what you want to hear and then do exactly what they want, never to your advantage. I was there for 3 months, quit and it took them 2 months to process my paperwork. During that time, I would still get emails asking me to work extra or emails about account specific updates, etc.... I'd work at Dairy Queen before I'd go back there... but hey, that's must my 2 cents.
I work for KS. Its a wonderful place
to work. You are treated well, they listen to your concerns, pay is on time. If for whatever reason, you don't like your account, just ask for another one. If your good, they want to please you so you will stay with them. It's in the top two on my list. Spheris, oh no. You have to get used to taking tests for these companies, that's just the way it is. Test and wait, test and wait. Good luck.
TRS is a horrible place to work
Extremely bad management, constant changes in management, constant do more, do more, do more, benefits always changing and not to the benefit of the MT but always to save them money. If you want to be a number and constantly being looked at for what you DO NOT do rather than what you do accomplish, then TRS is the place for you. If you want to make money and be happy, I think flipping burgers at McDonald's is a few steps up from TRS.
I watched way too many good people get walked all over at that company and finally leave. I lost my faith in the idea they could come back to a good company and after several years, decided to take myself to another company.
I hope you find what you are looking for, but please run away fast from TRS as I would hate to see another MT treated the way they are treating their people.
Great place to work
This is Documed in New Jersey that I am talking about. I have said this before on MT Stars, but I absolutely love this company. Been with them for almost 2 years and I can't say enough good things about them. The management is fantastic. The office staff is wonderful. They are very helpful with any problems you may have. Pay has never been late. Hope this helps.
They are a great place to work..sm
I have been there nearly 4 years now. The staff is very professional and accommodating. My schedule is flexible though there is a 24-hour TAT, but you can work the hours you want for the most part, at least on my account. Pay is always on time, the platform easy, and I rarely hear from QA. So all things considered, I would certainly encourage you to give them a try!
Not a good place to work. sm
They screw you over and don't pay very well. I would stay clear of them!!!!
Great place to work
I have been there for about 4 months. I love it there. Everybody there is great. I have an awesome account as well as a backup account. I plan on staying there for a long time. I don't know if they are currently hiring or not. Good luck!
No thanks TTS is the last place on earth I would work
.
GREAT place to work
I have worked for MANY companies, and this is the best one I have come across, HANDS DOWN!!!! You are actually treated like a PERSON. The communication there is GREAT! It might not be the biggest, but I believe it's the BEST! : - )
I do...It's a great place to work...SM
Everyone is very nice and helpful and there is never a shortage of work!
Look, I think TT is probably a very good place to work. But
There was a legit question about line-counter software at TT, and they are not addressing it. Of course it makes for paranoia. As someone pointed out elsewhere, it's a business, not a social club. Nice is, well, nice, but my lines have been cut to death over the last few years, and, yes at this point I'd want an accounting, too. I don't even think TT is truly trying to rip anyone off, but it does seem like a bad PR and business practice. If the lines are calculated correctly, why not fix it so it's transparent and it's a win/win for everyone?
It IS bringing back some bad memories from the Q, when things were really exploding with some very serious, valid issues and posters were belittled when they tried to point them out. It is an awful thing to be invalidated by your peers.
There are some at TT who seem like they ARE being very petty and need a reality check, and there are some who seem that they have been so wounded elsewhere that they would forgive any MTSO anything just so someone will be nice to them. Like any service (and any forum), there will be nay-sayers and there will be cheerleaders, and the truth will be somewhere in the middle.
I think KS is still a good place to work. They
have 4 different platforms that I know of. I think how much you like an account depends on what you worked on before coming to KS, how bad the company was you came from, what your expectations are of the company/account, etc. If you came from SPI, MQ, or OSi (where things seem to be horrendous based on posts) then KS is probably the best place in the world.
While it isn't the place I think I'll end my career, I would still recommend them.
There's no work at this place! Move on! nm
xx
good place to work
I am an IC and have worked for them for about 4 years. It was much better when it was MDI. They were much nicer and easy to work for. Now it seems money is the main objective (theirs). They always pay on time and live up to their part of the bargain as far as I know. The IC's are treated like step-children or worse now. We used to at least get a Christmas card, but no more. Nada. Hope this helps someone make up his/her mind. There are probably none much better.
The place where you work now, did you do straight
transcription for them before and if so were they that strict with the straight. I just do not see letting quality work slip because of trying to get through a report as soon as you can. Do you work for a big place and also what platform are you using?
Sounds like we work for the same place...sm
Same thing is happening to me. I have worked 50 hours a week for the past 2 months just to get my lines in. When I turn in my time sheet, I put down that I worked 100 hours in 2 weeks. I got an e-mail from my company stating to please only put 80 hours down. Now, this seems totally illegal to me!!! They should not get away with this but what can I do? I need to pay my bills.
Ohhh we work the same place and sm
I submitted four documents with the same procedure dictated, same doctor, etc. and left blanks in the same place in all of them. I knew what the procedure was supposed to be, I simply could not hear what I knew it was, so I blanked it in four documents and waited for QA to help me out. Right. I GOT BACK FOUR DIFFERENT ANSWERS. I took it up with QA supervisor and my supervisor. I was told *next time* to provide the job numbers. Okay.
I have had them give a critical error for spelling out HCTZ when it was dictated spelled out, and then been given a critical error for leaving H-C-T-Z which is what the doctor said and not spelling out. Can't win for losing.
Got told to use ProTime. Okay, whatever...looked that up because it is pro time some places and protime and should really be prothrombin time, etc. ProTime is a home INR test and DOES exist, but whatever. I got corrected to Pro time which sure isn't right.
I feel that the QA gals there are very poor. I am not sure how they got to be QA but it would seem most of them should not be doing it. I know you can't take your best MTs and make them QA because you are shooting yourself in the foot, but you can't break in newbies by letting them do it either. It has me so upset I am looking for another job and I JUST started there.
That is why I am looking now for a second job. The place I work for constantly
runs us out of work and of course it is because things are slow but the fact is they overhired so they dont have to worry about TAT and be bothered with it. We dont count I guess.
good place to work?
pay, benes, etc?
Honestly, MQ is a great place to work!
I did work for Spheris before they were called EDIX, and I've worked for a couple of other nationals and MQ is by far the best! The grass isn't greener on the other side, believe me. MQ is the most advanced technilogically. If you don't want to feel like you are going backwards with technology, go give MQ a try. I work out of the Dallas office and the communication with my supervisor, other supervisors, upper management, other co-workers...is EXCELLENT. I love it. I would say at least give it a try before listening and taking the advice of anyone reporting a bad experience. All offices are not the same.
I agree, no Indians work for this place.
TT is a great place to work for. It is not that hard to
reach and maintain a decent line count. Incentives are fair and not to hard to reach. ExText is the best platform, at least in my 18 year experience. Great people, tons of work and the ESL percentage is about 20-25%.
Deventure is not a good place to work
QED pays weekly. Not a great place to work though; neither is Deventure.
TransTech is a wonderful place to work
x
We must work for the same place.. I'll email you (nm)

I have to agree -- truly a great place to work. sm
There is always a learning curve anywhere, of course, but wiithin just a short time, my production was the same with TT as anywhere else. The benefits are pretty good, insurance affordable, and as an added bonus, the people there truly care about their employees. After 30+ years of transcribing, I feel like I finally found my home.
Definitely great place to work, 2 year
anniversary coming up and I still love my job.
Work is trickling in here at a totally different place.
I think the holiday and back-to-school stuff has slowed stuff down here as well. I know the bulk of the tourists headed home this weekend as well and they generate a lot of revenue not only for what I do, but for just about every other thing in this state. I just had to scrounge for work at my company (Not TT) as we speak. It actually is a nice break though, as I'm totally burned out and appreciate the slow down.
Amphion just seemed like a good place to work
I don't like to job hop and between the 2 Amphion seemed better but I have misgivings now and afraid I will be let go. Do they let people go if they don't meet the line requirements?
DTS is not a good place to work. Very unorganized. sm
They have offices in Nashville and Carlsbad, I know. I was all hyped to work for them but it was such a disappointment. They kept losing my paperwork and were adamant about your hours worked. The recruiter was horrible, but now they have the former SPI recruiter, so who knows? The manager was ridiculous. Not far, very nasty tempered.
Whenever you find a place to work in MT'ing that (sm)
doesn't have slow times, let us all know.
Very good place to work. When I worked there
I was paid $0.10 Canadian per line with spaces. That was before the US dollar went below the Canadian dollar. I think they hire mostly US MT's as there aren't enough in Canada. I think you can also get employee status there. Great bunch of people. I would highly recommend them.
Ditto...It's a great place to work (nm)
Wow...sounds like a good place to work.
Sounds like they made it worthwhile.
Is Proveros a good place to work?
Does anybody think this is a good company to work for? Are they worth putting in a long term investment of time? Do they pay fair and on time? Good/bad accounts, run out of work? I was just wondering if anyone had any information and//or thoughts to share.
Seems a pretty good place to work. SM
I do sometimes run out of work. So far, I only have 2 accts, but it seems when my primary is out, so is my secondary, so I'll be trying to pick up more accts. Compared to my past work, I do not find that they have high ESL, pretty normal. I am a level 4. I think they may have 5 levels. Pay seems okay, even better than most. Good luck.
Any suggestions for a good place to work?
Does anyone have any suggestions concerning a good place to work for a Transcriptionist with 13 years of experience? This is my 4th day out of work this week - my company is now outsourcing to India, and USA-based transcriptionists are apparently being forced out by attrition. Any suggestions appreciated - thanks in advance.
Try Webmedx. They run low on work, too, sometimes, but overall a more reliable place. NM.
Good luck.
Depending on the account your placed, this is not bad place to work.
If your on the Escription account, run and do not look back. Work often runs low and the stuff you get is horrid (ESLs) etc. and it is almost impossible to make any money. These are VR accounts. So, if your not on a VR account, you will most likely like it as far as pay on time and decent benefits. I had to quit because I either had no work or crappy accounts where I made no money. Obviously, it was more beneficial to find another job for me. Communication leaves a lot to be desired.
no change, still an awful place to work...nm
