Well, I was happy for that overflow account coming on board

It is helping out some. No, I don't work on that account, but I did put in a full shift today.
In fact, the work is picking up on the account I work on as I had a total of 3 full shifts this week. Sure feels funny to work a full shift lately.

sometimes you'll hear that there's a new account coming on board ...
sometimes that happens, sometimes it falls through ...
I'm not saying that they absolutely don't care ... but particularly if you are an independent contractor, it genuinely is not their problem.
Either way, the people who are willing to sit and wait for work will stay ... I've been one of them ... not ready to switch companies, need the lines to pay the bills.
I remember when, first of all, work was often backed up (and ALWAYS out of TAT -- the first 7 or so years I did MT) these were hospital accounts being done done by local companies who had history with each other ... The national bought out and underbid the smaller companies and one of their big selling points was TURNAROUND and they agreed to penalties into their contracts ... IMHO, many turnaround times I've heard of are silly -- ER reports and STAT H&Ps/Consults do affect patient care and could justify a 2-4 hour TAT -- most other work types could easily fit a 12-24 hour TAT with the option to flag as STAT.
It was great to be able to work any hour of any day -- now it's much more iffy and harder to make up lines if you have an unexpected down time. JMHO.
My main account must have been an overflow account. We would
go several many days of the month where we could not pull work, so we all had to go to secondary accounts and there are very few accounts that could absorb the extra people.
I currently use VXP for my overflow account. Is this the same thing as VPN?
I use a Netgear router with no issues at all.
Doubt that overflow account is enough to
We need an entire facility to keep all the MTs who are out of work -- not just a couple of work types that are overflow.
question about the overflow account. sm
Is it in Missouri? No names necessary, just curious. I work for a hospital in Missouri that is sending some work out because we are backed up 10 days. I suggested Transtech and just curious if they actually listened to little ole me!
No TT overhired for the overflow account
they are putting those MTs on the other accounts.
I am on that account and it is not overflow. It is a set volume with sm
a set 2 sites. You really should ask the lead instead of posting on an anonymous site which makes it look bad. Especially when you know as well as I do that this account is one of the best out there. I make great money and great lines.
I think that once it was caught up, which was a backlog created by the in-house staff, that they needed to make sure that everyone has the work they need but that the account is kept in TAT. Obviously there will not be as much work as it was unlimited while behind, but my understanding is that it will still be very busy as we are 100% responsible for the 2 sites.
Yes. Last entry on community board. ALL Web work is overflow.
I am fairly sure all their accounts still have in-house transcription departments. All mine do. The Atlanta account you mentioned started the same time as my main and always has more work than my hospital, which is an account that has almost completely dried up over the last year. STM states they are saving work for their in-house MTs.
your company takes overflow or has a primary account
I really have no idea if this applies to your current situation, but when I worked at a hospital and a large MTSO took our overflow, some of the girls I worked with had no qualms about leaving (or perhaps assigning, can't really remember now) the horrible doctors to the MTSO. We had a monitor that showed all the jobs waiting in queue, and they would (or could, anyway) go down the list assigning themselves the good ones, thereby leaving the bad ones to the MTSO. I worked radiology and everything was in-house for that, but I would watch the acute care ladies do this.
Con: Overflow work is cherry-picked from the git-go by the account's inhouse MTs. nm

Well then happy new Monday coming at you tomorrow, then! :)
s
They have a big account coming on and SM
are storing people away until it comes on board. Supposedly many people are out of work. I suppose things will improve when that account comes on board.
When they have a new account coming they
overhire. They want to have the expected number of MTs needed trained and ready to go on day 1. What really sucks is that if there is a delay for some reason in the account going live then they stick them on an existing account, which if that happens to be your account you are SOL. Not only does the newbie not have enough lines, but you don't either, which hardly seems fair. This was the case when I worked there and I complained and was told that they had to allow for people quitting/being fired, not working their schedules, etc. I only worked about 5 months before saying screw it and only 1 pay period did I get all my lines in, despite flexing my schedule to work my weekends and getting up at 3 a.m. to try to get some lines. I tried to make the most of the down time and clean out closets, catch up on my personal paperwork, but when I was having to take money out of savings every month to cover my mortgage payment something had to change and WMX wasn't going to.
The "powers" that be watch this board so you will have a ton of TT MTs coming on here to say t
plenty of work, which will only make you feel worse like your being singled out, but I suspect this happy TT'ers are management. How else can you explain someone saying no work and then others saying how swamped they are. It happens all the time. Makes you wonder...
New onco account coming on soon
nm
There is a new, larger account coming on in Dec. (sm)
I would imagine they are hiring in anticipation of that. Work flows vary anywhere, but these people go out of their way to try and keep us all in work on a steady basis. Benefits good, you are treated well by management, pay on time, accounts pretty good, platform is such that you can actually make money.
Ups and downs are the name of the game, but I would highly suggest you at least talk to them. Hiring on with them was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I will ride the waves of feast and famine gladly with this company.
When they have a new account coming on-line
they way overhire and they hire too soon so that the new hires they stick on various accounts until their account comes on-line, so then there is less work for the people who have the account as a primary. I left a year ago, after 4 months with only 1 paycheck where I got in 40 hours. Even with 3 accounts and sitting in front of the computer for hours in case a job came through, and working my days off, I still couldn't get in 40 hours. They had so overhired that even when the account came on-line there wasn't enough work for everyone. I think 6 of us quit within a month and there still wasn't enough work for everyone, although some of the more challenging accounts had OT most every week, but despite asking to work on one of those accounts I was told no. For me quitting was the best thing I did. Now at least on the rare occasion there isn't enough work we get paid downtime.
if the account is just coming onto the VR platform
then it needs time to get smarter, which means you leave AS out of the picture. It needs to learn to type correctly what is being dictated. It also makes the dictators more responsible for their dictation (I know, a whole new argument in that statement). Anyway, that is why. The engine needs to learn, the dictators need to learn. You just tweak nuances like weather/whether while it learns. From QA's POV, they need to stay on top of which reports come through as straight versuses VR, but they are in their own learning curve.
You, MTSO, should just stop coming to OUR board if you're (NM)

I'm coming on board wtih MDI/MD, have to have unlimited long distance, BUT...
my local telephone service offers that for $24.95/month. Since I'm coming from Medquist, I figured I'll be making that up almost entirely in one DAY!!!! and I had to pay my Internet for me anyway, I'm an addict with four domains of my own, LOL!
Uumm, fellow MTs. Why would a hospital director be coming to our lil ole board??? nm

Don't know about turnover but new clients coming on board - GREAT company
Deb Garrison, I hope you're reading this board, because I'm coming at you with one hell of a l
I know that there are a lot of you out there who are owed money. Some of you are owed LOTS of money and Deb just spends it on herself. You'll likely NEVER get paid, but together you can all make sure she never runs an MTSO again. But, what needs to happen is ALL MTs screwed out of their paychecks must come together for this to actually happen. You all can email me at flagfootballcoach@gmail.com and we will pull together and bring down the hammer on this woman. She has had too many different businesses, taken people for their hard earned money, and needs to be shut down for good.
Just a minute here chickie. There is work at Webmedx and plenty more coming on board. SM
Maybe if you had more than one account to transcribe, you, too, would have work. Don't spread lies on this board please. It is not nice.
Is anyone on this board HAPPY with their job?
I know every job has its pros and cons, but there is so much negativity here that I do not think I will visit anymore. Many posters are griping about this company and that company. This one doesn't pay enough, that one offshores, this one has too many ESL accounts, that one does not have flexible scheduling. This one has a bad platform, that one docks my pay when I have a low QA score.
Many MTs seem to be too concerned about making that line count rather than producing quality work. It seems to me that if quality was most important from the get-go, then the line count and the income would go up. If you are willing to do some of the tougher work when starting out, it will not be so difficult for you later. If you are an experienced MT, then it should not bother you to have ESLs and so forth. You are experienced, you should be used to it by now.
And why are there so many FORMER MTs on this board?
Vent over for now. Fire away.
Not happy? You are free to start your own board, to

Boy, I'd be happy to take over that private account if you want to get rid of it!
I'm sure that is not the one you'd want to get rid of though!!
Happy, I also have a high ESL account
at MDI and I love it. I like the challenge of learning the accents. I remember one doc (probably Indian or Pakistani) that I had the hardest time with when I started. Now I love to get his work, as I can breeze right through it. I'm with you, I'll take the ESLs over some of the American mushmouths and speed demons any day!
An account/company you are happy with, and the $$
I also live in a remote area. Can't make as much or have the flexibility elsewhere.
Congrats! I'm so very happy for you. Maybe we'll be on the same account. :-) nm
I agree..I have been very busy on my account and have not even been on this board (sm)
for 3 days in a row. I am still with KS and very happy. A couple weeks ago I posted my true feelings about working there because they were true and after the horrors I experienced at Medquist the last year I was there, KS is a refreshing change of pace. If someone doesn't like the fact that people who work for KS are genuinely happy, don't read the posts about them. I am not a member of management or someone who was coerced to write how I feel about my job. I have worked for 4 MT companies in the past 15 years and Keystrokes is far and away the best. I do not like switching companies either so I plan on staying with Keystrokes for the duration of my career.
On the Job Seeker's board, there is a cardiology account
for a company TOS. Does anyone know what TOS stands for and who they are?? Thanks
may be good now, wait until they Global your account, too. I left there long ago, happy I did. nm

NC OVERFLOW
Very experienced RAD, ER MT, can train on site in the Raleigh area but prefer to work at home if possible. Pay by report or exam only. Can cover odd hours, holidays and weekends for the right situation.
I did overflow for them and there were
horrible. At our local Kindred doctors that can't get a job anywhere else go to Kindred. I would get dictation that was 6+ months old. I was a subcontractor so don't know about insurance.
Does DSG do a lot of MQ overflow?
I worked at MQ and accepted a position with DSG. After finishing the paperwork, I began to receive account specifics for DSG and noticed that some of those accounts were accounts I had worked on for MQ. At the time, I just assumed that the accounts had been lost to DSG. Are you saying that MQ contracts with DSG to outsource their overflow? How long have they been doing this?
I don't know about MQ overflow but I have not

They may be doing overflow. SM
I don't think they are lying, since JMH in Miami sends all their work to India. It looks like they have every hospital account in Miami, Fl.
One thing, though, as far as I know, Diskriter has Broward General Medical Center, but this company may be doing overflow work.
Why haven't we heard of this company before? They sound huge.
NOT overflow
I have worked there for almost a year and it is definitely not overflow work. I don't know what account you worked on but there is plenty of work on the accounts I work on except maybe the last day of the pay period. Don't listen to these negative people...
yes, it is overflow
I worked there for a few years sometime ago. They actually told me that most of the accounts they have are overflow accounts. That is what they go after. They had possibly 1 account that was not overflow, but they lost it.
All are overflow. nm

overflow work
I work 20 hr/wk for SPi/CyMed on radiology. They need radiology MTs for Tue-Sat schedule right now. I work Sun-Thur. I have no benefits but I'm on social security and this works gret for me as a supplement to my SS check. I've been with them 1 year this week. I'll be out for hand surgery in a few weeks and I know for sure they'll need somebody then! I also know my supervisor will work with you on scheduling. I work for the Ohio office but I live in South, hurricane alley. Yes, Katrina got me but I have bounced back! I don't know if it's OK to give out my super's phone number, but if OK with admin of site, e-mail me for info. Best regards!
It is also only p.r.n./overflow work
I left a lot of blanks as well. I'm not so sure I could strain that much. Being overflow work is tough nookies to find a rhythm as well and I wonder how spaced apart the time would be before receiving the dictation. Glad I'm not alone as even volume control and slowing down/speeding up was not really helping at all. Oh well.... only lost about 1/2 an hour all in all.
-Overflow help needed-
Posted By: JMT on 2007-08-31
I am a small MTSO and I need overflow help with neurology and orthopedics clinic notes. Work would be available once or twice per week, for now. I will pay by PayPal per job completed or weekly by snail mail, your choice. Testing is required. Please send resume and pay requirements if interested.
Not all companies are overflow. nm

Yes, it is all overflow - and there is not enough work for everyone! no msg

Plus, they do overflow accounts...sm
Their work is on overflow accounts where they're a partner with a very dishonest and disreputable larger company who has been outed on this board many times for the horrible treatment of their MTs, etc. I would have nothing to do with them. On the account they're hiring for you may work one day and then be pulled off for the next several days, all without pay. It's a push-pull situation and not fair to any hard working MT. All these companies that do the overflow work should be ashamed for not telling prospective employees about this upfront, but they don't. They wait until you've taken the tests, filled out mountains of paperwork, and just Really want to get to work, and then you find out....it's just wrong on so many levels.
Whether or not they only do overflow is irrelevant. Don't you think?? nm
x
Plus all my accounts are overflow which I
was not told when I was hired. My STM says they are not, but they all maintain in-house transcription departments and make sure that their MTs have work before sending work our way. How can you NOT call that overflow?
Aren't they ALL overflow?
I haven't seen one real account that WMX has - only overflow, which gets yanked away from us everytime the hospitals get slow so that their own MTs have work.
That is the biggest drawback to working for an overflow company.
