Do you have to maintain X number of lines per hour to qualify or just X number of lines per payperiod? Is the family coverage affordable and decent insurance?

Medquist insurance in GA.
I am thinking about applying at MQ; are their any other GA residents out there that know what the health insurance situation is at MQ? I don' care how much it costs, I want reliable health coverage. I am still healthy but I am no spring chicken and this is important to me. I am not interested in MQ bashing, I just want the truth. If you are a top-level MQ MT and know about insurance in GA, because I think it varies from state to state, account to account, I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Is there a waiting period of 1 year before you can use it? If not, is there a waiting period of 1 year before you can use it for orthodontics or dentures? Some policies you have to wait a year to use it and others you can use it for fillings and such, but have to wait a year for anything really major.

Precyse vs Webmedx
Hi All! I started with Precyse the beginning of the month due to my last job losing account and laying off. My first day of training, there was no work to train on, and subsequent days no work. The past week, work has somewhat increased. The QA department stayed backed up, and I was told if when the pay period ends and my work have not been QA'd, I would get paid for those lines the next pay day. Then the account I'm on, one of the QA people told me all the work goes overseas but the Op notes because the people in India were so bad, the hospital decided to let the Americans do Ops. Anyways, I am definitely not happy here, so I have an intervewiew with Webmedx. The recruiter at Webmedx has already warned me that the accounts at Webmedx are over 70% ESL. I would just like a comparison on Precyse and Webmedx. I would hate to jump from the frying pan into the furnace! The training pay is only 10.00 an hour at Precyse.

Yes, Webmedx is wonderful to work for, I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure there. I retired but would go back at the snap of fingers if I need to ! The admin staff is wonderful - especially the HR Director VC!

I absolutely agree! They have the BEST coverage overall for self and/or family!!! They are definately worth checking out. They also have great incentives all the way around!

I believe the approx. costs for single coverage/month are:
Dental = $16
Vision = $3.72
Medical = $114.76 or $87.96
depending on plan

You have to work at least 35 hours a week and type at least 5000 lines a week to keep your full-time status and your benefits. You have to wait 90 days before you are eligible for benefits. The premiums for coverage are very reasonable (I am paying about $400 per month for family health insurance, vision, and dental). The coverage isn't that wonderful though. There is a either a $1000 or $2000 deductible depending on which plan you choose. I have had much better coverage in the past and wish that there was better coverage out there for MTs.

I pay 145 a pay period for myself and husband for the gold type insurance (which is the best we can get).

Webmedx insurance question - coverage for self and spouse? (sm)
I saw posts regarding 1,000 and 2,000 deductible. Is this the difference between BCBS gold and silver plan? Also do they have a category for just yourself and spouse or is it just family. Since family could include umpteen children, I would think there would be a cheaper class for just you and spouse?
Not eligible for quite a while and haven't receive info yet from company. Just trying to make sure this will work for us or if I need to seek different employment. We will be needing me to cover us as hubby is retiring soon.

401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.

The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars. I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.

MTSO, which MTSO it is and whether the coverage is decent? I currently pay $92.00 a pay period for decent coverage but am trying to figure out if I am getting a good deal or if I could do better elsewhere.

Medquist is getting really bad
Been there for a long time (years and years) - am looking for another job now. They don't care about their employees, only their accounts. The pay is horrible and you almost never get a raise. Management only cares about management - not us lowly peons.

I did not like MedQuist's platform at all. All of the info required to be filled in was ridiculous (wouldn't have been so bad if they paid for the keystrokes). Also, I was switched between 4 different accounts during the first week. I was told during the interview that I would have one main account and a backup account.
Another complaint I have is that whenever I called the office, my calls were not returned. I had to just keep calling until the manager was available. I just did not have a very good first impression of them. Luckily, my previous employer took me back.
I would recommend anyone switching companies to try the new company out before turning in your notice. Sometimes you don't know how good you have it until you almost lose it.
I think it's only fair to say, though, that if I would have had a stable account and had a chance to get used to the doctor names, local cities, clinics, etc., I may have had an entirely different impression of MedQuist. Don't put too much weight into one transcriptionist's impression of a company. They may have 'easy' accounts.
I also have noticed that sometimes, the less qualified you are, the easier work you get, the more money you make.

I work for the Ohio MedQuist and have had exactly ONE radiology account in the entire eight years I've been with 'em - I've never even HAD a secondary account. Needless to say I feel like these docs are old, old friends (and a few hated enemies) and the work is always there, easy docs, cutting edge technology and they leave me alone and don't bug me. Give 'em a try, I say.

I work for MedQuist and make $25/hr. doing radiology - I've done exactly one account the entire 8 years I've been with MedQuist and have never run out of work. The doctors are great, they don't bother you and allow you to do your work and pay on time. Seems kewl to me. Radiology pays quite well there.

Despite all the negative press and opinions, they are still probably the best - since they are the biggest they can afford to pay more, work always plentiful (at least in radiology) and they don't bug U to death (U don't have to clock out to go to the John). At least that's how it is at the Ohio Medquist - don't know about other branches but assume they are similar. There ARE perks to being with the biggest, I must say.
