now it's suddenly 9 to 13 cpl? I tried to take their test and one of the questions they asked was what you were making.
Maybe I was dreaming. I copied the ads I applied to and that one seems to be missing.

I am currently head of QA for a company and do everything else as well, hiring, firing, etc., and I am looking for another job because I don't like how they treat the MTs. We are incredibly short staffed because we use outdated equipment and the company won't supply it. We only have 11 people covering every account we have and it's working the good people to death. The other day the office manager contacted one MT telling her she needs to work that day and I told her that was the MTs day off (this particular person had worked 19 days with only one day off) and her response was I don't care, she needs to work. I told them this is the quickest way to run people off. I'm working 7 days a week as well and sometimes I think it would be easier just to actually transcribe, but then there's the problem of finding a good company with a decent rate.

all of you KS pollyannas need to realize that there are people who have had very negative experiences with KS - whether it be the pay, the managers, the work, or with the 666 owner. It is true that there are differences even within companies, and I think at that point it is the owners obligation to streamline things all the way across the board if they want to continue a good reputation. Obviously, someone has done something very wrong at KS - and I think these complaints normally start at the top and then trickle down - we're not all looney-tunes -

24-hour time-frame in this day and age of not enough work with turn-arounds of a few hours...I wish 24-hour turn-around. Good luck in your search.

platform? I swear I was told this, but can't remember when or by whom.

I'm looking for part-time work, about 10 hours a week. I've got 13 years full-time acute care experience and just need a few hours, Mon-Fri, morning or night!

How long does it take usually for a company to get you into training and typing after just being hired? A week from your acceptance? Two weeks? I'm waiting for equipment to arrive now.

I was able to set up an appointment to start training after my software and equipment arrived also. It was approximately 2 weeks after being hired on. Don't get to worried. They still have to run business as usual and it takes time getting training schedules and software set up. I am so thankful that I switched from MQ . I have been with my new company for 6 months now and wondering why the heck I didn't leave earlier. Good luck.

I want to change from MQ to save my sanity, but every week when I check out the postings, there is another company that is being lynched. This is a tough crowd, isn't it? I don't know how to weed through and figure out what is hype good and bad versus what is real. I think I would be better off spinning a wheeling or flipping a coin than trying to balance out what is true here.
Does anyone else feel this way? Where can we go for real answers?
Busiest Days of the Week for Your Company?
I always thoughts Sunday nights were busy, getting preops ready, etc., Monday's are pretty busy and Friday is always busy, but the days in between seem to be really slow this year. Is anyone finding certain days of the week to be busier than others?

it just goes round and round. How about doing something about it rather than arguing back and forth. I think we all can agree that there are good companies and bad companies but that for the most part they are all pretty similar. Slipping through the cracks? It happens. Be the squeaky wheel and call the company. Obviously they need people if they hire. Perhaps your resume was stuck to another or your message not written down correctly. Perhaps you misunderstood something and need to clarify it. Perhaps they misunderstood something and need to clarify it. If you have chosen to work for a company and did your research, then you have to decide after a month or so if it is the right company for you or not. Transcription is a very small world and these service owners talk amongst themselves. They work on making transcription better not how to burn and tick off the next applicant.
Be realistic. These companies all have good and bad points. The really bad ones are obvious with the paychecks that do not arrive for months and those that continuously bounce checks and those that rip off their employees with fraudulent line counts. But the ones that are constantly attacked on here are the ones that have been around for awhile and will continue with or without you. MQ, Spheris, MDI, Transcend, Transolutions, Keystrokes, Heartland, TransHealth, OSI, Precyse and Cymed are going to continue to hire and fire and have happy MTs and MTs that do not like working for them. The truly bad ones like XXXX and SS, to name a few, the ones that only have horrible posts are the ones that will fade away.

you watch this board, you will see a pattern. One a week. Have to shred the reputations of good companies to bits just to feel good about being unhappy in general. I wonder sometimes if these people job hop constantly, even work at all, or work for the company they are bashing. Maybe it's just sick fun for those with no outside lives :)

Yes, we DO advertise for MT's!
Why do you thik it's so? It's because we are getting new accounts each and every week. How do you like them apples? It's because we have very high standards and have to replace those who can't cut it. Its because we LOVE giving people work when they are in need of work to earn a living for their families, and we have plenty for them to make a very good living. We have a huge recruiting team because we are always in search of the best, the brightest, the most ethical, the most honest, the hardest working and the most successful of all the MT's around. We are NOT interested in those who spend hours chating in various gripe boards when you should be typing. It clearly explains why either you are NO longer here, or why you couldn't get here in the first place.

They used to advertise they pay scale as -
9-11 cpl. PRN status is 7.5 cpl. From what I heard recently, they are trying to lower their MT pay expense (not investment), so if you ever were to get off 9 cpl it would surprise me.

I worked for one company once that had their pre-canned ads. I hated them because they told nothing. They did give their website, but it was way old.

Instead of only applying with companies that advertise heavily,
try Googling for transcription companies, perhaps in your home state, and go to their websites. They usually have a way to apply on their website, and they won't be receiving 300 resumes the same day yours arrives. Send your resume to several and you might hit the timing right with one or two, or perhaps they will keep your resume for when they do have an opening.

calls from housewives who know how to type *real good*. Or people who wanted to do this because they saw in a magazine that you can make a lot of money in your free time!
Why do companies advertise for jobs if they have no work?
I lost my job with a big offshoring company a couple of months ago. I knew it was coming so I started applying for jobs and sending my resume for posted jobs. The company that hired me responded to my resume submission within 2 HOURS and I was hired the next day. They had an immediate need, speciality I love, good pay. Now, a couple of months later I am getting calls and e mails from companies that I applied to months ago. One recruiter said, I don't know when we received your application, it was probably 90 days ago. During this same time period I have seen the Q advertise twice, claiming they have steady work (????) Of course, after reading posts here I would not even consider any offer from them. A lady from Spheris e mailed and ask that I let her know a time I could interview some time in the next several weeks.
I don't get it. If you do not have work, why are you posting jobs? I would consider this a big red flag.
Transcend does. If you look, they advertise on the Jobs board but they admit that
they send work overseas.
