Where do you get that Scribe does not give you a line count??
I have been with Transportal for over 6 months and NEVER have I not been able to see my line count instantly at anytime I wanted. The ONLY exception to this is if a file is pending in QA it does not show until QA has completed it. This is not new within the last few weeks. It has been this way since January at least since I was hired.
It sounds to me like possibly you did not stay long enough to learn your account nor how to use the software and give it the full dedication it takes to learn all aspects.
I can easily type 250-300 lph when I give it my full dedication and am having a good day. I can say I have major health issues and Transportal has been a WONDERFUL company to work for for me. I do wish the pay was a little higher but I am thankful not to have an account full of ESLs day in and out too so I feel that compensates somewhat. I am an IC and I have NEVER been questioned about my work hours EVER and I have worked under 2 account managers, both beginning with a J. They are exceptional. Some weeks I work days, some weeks I work nights. I work whenever I can with no questions asked. Just as your work schedule may not be the same as everyone else, account managers have their schedules that work for them as well. Who cares when they upload the work, you have work don't you? If the files are already late on TAT, it doesn't mean you HAVE to stay up all night doing them. It means the entire acct is most likely out of TAT and working the oldest first. No, I am not in management. I am merely a team player, IC MT as stated, and I realize what it takes to keep the work flowing and the account happy. I hate seeing someone come on here and bash a wonderful place to work just because it may not have worked for them or because they didn't stick around to figure it out. If you had software issues, why didn't you ask how it worked? They should do more info regarding the use of the software but most experienced MTs can figure it out as it is that simple to use.

Out of 15 years experience, I have never been more satisfied with an account, company, or team lead with the exception of the good ole days and basic Word without platforms. With any platform, you have to do at least some demographic work and that is the wave of the future so you might as well get used to it and thank Obama for pushing electronic medical records. At least we are still typing rather than going to full EMR or VR or editing work from you know where. I am glad you left though, leaves more work for me, YEAH!! Also, I have NEVER received a rude email EVER from anyone within this company.
Control i does not give us the exact line count where
we work. We do not get paid for everything that control i would show. It has recently been fixed so that we can use control i, but the line shown there is not what we will get paid for. We have to go to ichart to get our *true* line count. Ichart often is very slow and/or down ! There is a big difference in the control i line count and what we get paid for. We also have no way to see the reports that we have done with the exact line count for that report, nor any report that shows us the job numbers we transcribed EVER! We are even blocked from the function that shows the prior report that we did. Control i does absolutely no good if it is not a correct line count (paycheck-wise). The only thing that I see good out of it with Transtech is that it does show the number of reports that I have transcribed so that I can compare it with my handwritten tablet of jobs, but it does not show each and every report number or line count for each report. The only way we could that is to look at Ichart at the end of each job which is very time consuming since it is so very SLOW ! But still no job numbers.
Would you mind to give instructions on doing that?

for MONTHS. I know the work load has been low and I have some accounts of my own that I can do, so I have done my own accounts and not even touched MDI. Kinda hoping I won't get yelled at for not meeting my quota but I figure I'll just hang in the background and work when the work is there, and when it is light let the other MTs who don't have anything else to fall back on have it.
Now if my own accounts slow down I will be in trouble...

The only time I don't make my line count
it is my own fault for wasting time, surfing the net, etc. It's always my fault. Even when we had a dry spell with work trickling in I still hopped on when most people weren't working and I still made my required count for the pay period.
EASY to make line count!
My experience was the opposite. I routinely did 1600-2000 lines a day, WAY over minimum of about 1200 lines a day. I can't make that now in my current job, but at Spheris it was easy. It does depend on the accounts you're assigned, though, so I don't doubt that it COULD be hard to make line count at Spheris. Just depends.

I see multiple negative posts, but have to believe nothing is totally bad. Please confirm there ARE people there making line count and semi-enjoying the company.

It could endager their job. If they need just 45 minutes extra a day to meet their count, what does it hurt? No one said you have to work more hours. You could always opt out of working longer than 8 hours.

Spheris Canada...Applied on line per instructions but problems with template...
After completing page 1 it flips to page 2 and asks you for to choose a State...obviously I'm in Canada (for which page 1 had that option). I am hoping this did not screw up my application.
I am very experienced so I am sure they would contact me...Checked out their web site and there is only a general inq # to call.
Is anyone working with the Canada (Ontario) Division...is it all through US head office....any insight ?

I was hired for Radiology, but by the time they fixed the bugs in the platform (about a week) the client decided to do their own VR. Guess what? I got transferred to work I had less experience with and left to the mercy of merciless QAs...
Gradually the patience and extra effort I made to make this relationship work waned as did the we really appreciate your patience and effort rah rah's from management.
YOU may love your job and have no problems, but please don't lecture those of us who had a much different experience despite OUR best efforts.

why not enjoy the day off? You are constantly complaining about TT so please leave already! I for one always look forward to a little extra time off when work is slow..no big deal if you are prepared for it. Work always tends to be slow at this time of the year anyway. signed off the report I was typing. Those lines didn't add immediately, but sometimes they do that. What concerns me is that when I signed that job off and the next one came up, not only were the other lines not added in but they were LESS than they were before I signed off previous job.
I thought I noticed this happening the other day, but figured I just wasn't paying attention. Today I definitely noticed it. For some reason it changed it's mind and took 8 lines off my line count. What the heck?
Am not really ecstatic with the way things are going anyway and then this confuses me.
Please, someone have a realistic explanation so I don't feel paranoid and cheated here.

You have been harping about the same points over and over again. I used to work for TT, and I thought it was a good company. You obviously do not feel that way, so do yourself (and them) a favor and find a place that meets your needs. Life is too short to work at some place that makes you as miserable as you seem to be.

Line counts - the lower the line count requirements
the harder the account and problems with trying to get production off the platform the company uses.
Any system will give you a low count
if that is how it is configured by the MTSO, hospital, etc. It is set up by technical staff to count per their standard, so my suggestion to you would be to talk with your supervisor and get specific information about how you are paid. Keep in mind that if you are paid by character, most especially visual black character only, your line count will be significantly reduced. If you are not paid for headers and footers your line count will be significantly lower. Everyone needs to discuss these issues before starting any position and make sure you take good notes and dates and note who it was who told you any information you may have.

I left MQ for TT. The base line rate was less at TT, but overall I make more per line with the
shift differential (I work second shift) and the incentive plan (I have never once failed to make at least an extra half cent per line on incentives - most of the time a penny). I was scared to death to make that move, as I had been with MQ since back in the Transcriptions Limited days. I have to say, though, that it was the best career move I have ever made and I have never, not once, regretted it.

I have had the same accounts for up to 15 years. On my surgeons with even charging 12 cents a line I can often make $50 to $60 an hour with their consults. I think it is fair. They pay within 48 hours, never a bounced check, got $500 Christmas bonus. I can do them in my sleep. They never question my line counts. It is 60 characters to a line and gross lines, not character count. On a consult for breast cancer, that is 3 to 4 pages, probably type 50 lines as the physical is so standard. If I charged more I would feel like I was ripping them off. I make a decent living and so pass it onto them. I gross over 11,000 lines per month with them and work 5 to 6 hours per week. They like the smaller amount per line. My other is a clinic that I have a lot of auto corrects set up and still make $35 an hour and so why charge them an arm and leg when I am making decent money. My sub's make close to $25 an hour as they aren't quite as fast as I am and don't use as many quick corrects but at 8 to 9 cents they average 250 to 350 (psych reports) per hour. So we are all happy. Half way through the year I myself have made $26,500. And that is with a slow June.
line count
I have always understood that gross line pay is better than character counted. This could be false, however, depending on font used and size of font, as well as the format of the report. Sorry, don't know info specific to Meditech's system, but have read "To convert Gross Lines to Net Lines multiply Gross Lines by .70." This obviously reduces gross lines by 30% to a net line count, but it does not make sense that this formula would be accurate all the time considering all the variables involved (those mentioned above as well as the fact that character counted net lines are not a standard 65, and could be whatever number the client has agreed to pay on).

How can you get an exact count by Word? Even the different Word programs vary.
My line count
Some say that if you are not a high producer, you may actually do well with VR? How true is that? Due to the summer, my line count is only in the 6 or 7000 range per pay period. However, in the beginning of Sept, the kids will go back to school and I will start working full time. Given that there is full time work available to me, could I stand to actually make more money doing VR?
MQ line count
I've been on DQS for way over a year. My line count has never improved and I am one the same account every day. Join the class action and hopefully we will get our money eventually.

When I started there it was 198 lph...they have lowered it since I left. And why are they allowed to post jobs here? They outsource overseas!!! What happened to MTSTARS policy of not posting jobs from outsourcing companies?

Sharon, I've been with TT for over a year and have never had a line count problem (and know it is correct because I know what I can transcribe per hour/day, and have been doing it consistently for years before coming to TT and since being with TT). Are you new at TT? If you are having a problem you should email Debbie about it, as she will be able to answer any questions you may have.
