WHO ASKED YOU FOR SYMPATHY?

Get over yourself, gourdo.

You're not Norma Rae.

You have no credibility in this discussion because you don't have a dog in the fight.

But if we ever need someone to give us advice on living off of our husband's pension, you'll be the first one we call.

Not help but sympathy. sm
I used to work with a blind MT.  We were on IBM wheelwriters.  One day he worked all day, and took his work up to supervisor's desk for proofing.  It was all blank.  His ribbon had run out early that morning.  I felt terrible for him.  Does your friend work on a braile keyboard?
I do have sympathy.

But it is not the fault of MDI when people sat for months and waited for work.  You need to take some responsibility for yourself and find another job that does have work.

Furthermore, Transcend bought MDI, so it's not like these people are just plain out of a job.  They will have a job with Transcend.

This is all part of this industry.  Companies change names, they merge, they expand, they decrease their staff.  We need to be proactive.

I cannot feel sorry for people who sat around with no work FOR MONTHS and never did anything about it.  That's not fair to say that MDI chained you to your chair and said you cannot look for another job.  I mean really?  People sat for months?  I did see some posters who found second jobs and that's what you all should have been doing.

I know this sounds harsh, but it's so true.  We cannot expect others to do for us.  We need to do for ourselves.

I really do not need your sympathy, and furthermore

exactly what is it that you DO to help MTs?  A member of AAMT since 1978 perhaps? Big deal.  That's probably why we are where we are now.  I have been in this business a few decades myself.  You come on here stating MTs are doing this to themselves by not taking a stand, we need to see the writing on the wall (as if we are stupid), you wouldn't -sell your soul-, and basically calling us cowards because we need these jobs, as well as any other insults throughout the thread.  I don't see one piece of helpful information to anyone.  But YOU are working to help the MTs!!  These posts just sound like someone with too much time on their hands and quite frankly a little self-serving.  Yeah, you can stop.

I honestly believe the MT industry will evolve into what it is going to be and the small number of MTs who do make a stand will not make any difference to influence it one bit.  Some of us will get fed up and quit, take a stand and get fired, or evolve with the technology and changes in the industry.  Stop cutting us down and patting yourself on the back.

Lillybelle, my sympathy too. SM
What's that Chinese curse, May you live in interesting times or something like that? These are those, and unfortunately we are on the expense side of the ledger of a noble and economically embattled industry. For your own sake in making your decisions, although it's tough you need to accept, as so many others very foolishly refuse to, that there's no reason why offshore transcriptionists will not be learning to do this work as competently and securely as we. The downside of having English as the world's major language.

By all means you and your colleague should look seriously into going with another company. You are being used to their benefit as your position deteriorates in this transition. Having somewhere else to go will give you the strength to use whatever leverage you might actually still have to demand better benefits. Be aware, though, that the tides of change are going against you, and the wishes of your physicians, and it may well not make any difference at all. But even if you don't improve on their offer, you'll feel better for refusing to allow them to benefit from your victimization.

Last, at this time there is still money to be made in this industry on a production basis by those who work hard and smart. If you're not already doing it, plan on extensive use of a word Expander to maximize your words-per-minute production, plus extensive development of macros and templates for each account.

Best wishes.
To no sympathy, you just don't understand
Fed up, I totally understand.  You are not complaining about working a little OT here and there.  You are complaining about being treated as if you are a robot and can pump out endless work when necessary, and believe me when I tell you, Amphion will keep this up for months on end if they need to, and they will expect you to keep your QA perfect while being overworked too.  This is why I left Amphion a while back.  I couldn't handle the pressure anymore.  Amphion was way to stressful for me. After 3 months straight of mandatory OT everyday, I cracked like a nut!
Isn't that ridculous? U have my full sympathy.
Why R they doing this to us??? Sheesh.
When they called me and I asked them if they offshored, they asked me why that was my business!
xx
Sad but true. You're asked to work NOW, then asked to stop NOW, then go again and then stop
If you dont get off the minute the hospital asks, even if you have no idea that they have requested that your to be off, then the hospital MTs steal your work right out of your queue and I mean reports you have already done. I dont understand the concept of having a contract with a hospital and then having to fight for work with the hospital MTs. We should have guaranteed work during our shift and enough of the the hospital wants you to help right now and then a few hours later they want us to stop working as the work is too low. It is crazy and I couldnt work like that so I had to quit.
ok-you asked for it.........sm
Good points: Pay always on time and always correct.

Bad points: Work flow is not consistent (some days plenty of work, some days no work at all on the system).

Their QA for eScription Accounts are very inconsistent and do not follow account specifics. Change correct things and terms to incorrect terms (very very frustrating).

Indian based and Indian run company.

They subcontract out most of their eScription work to other MTSO companies.

Don't know about the other side of it using their NetCare system. I work on their eScription side of things, which is all run by the India based company.

Since they are eating up all of the eScription accounts, I thought I'd try them - needless to say it is not very profitable.

Don't count on making good money there. Many days without work.

To each their own. It may be a good fit for some.
I asked for more

and that's what I was told the line rate I could get.

And to top it all, I have a friend who has TWO YEARS experience and was offered 8 c/line for a PT position.  PART TIME!!!  And I'm getting 8.5/line for FT with all that experience in acute care?  Something stinks here.

Wouldn't you be upset????

Sorry...I asked this before
but can't find the post!  Does anyone know a good website that lists most MT companies (besides MT Daily).  Thank you.
Know what FTP is. That's why I asked who uses it. nm
nm
I asked that down below...
and no one seemed to know about the platform except to watch your line count? Not sure what that means.
since you asked, yes, 1 do nm

nm

Not what I asked about but thanks anyway. SM
The drug testing doesn't bother me.   I would just like to know the answers to my questions before I apply.
Same here. Have never been asked if CMT or not. I'm not. nm
s
yes they do...have you asked for one?
nm
Yes I asked -
x
I asked that below...
but didn't get any reply.  Not sure that's a bad thing or a good thing!
Well, have you ever asked?
to be able to fluctuate your working hours?  Guess that would make a difference.
Have you ever asked
Unfair, yes and no. I do know they have called others who were not working when they were scheduled to be. It probably depends on what account you are on, and so may not actually change anything except that you will have to clock in and out each time you quit and start during the day.
I tried to tell you below when you asked, but
you don't seem to want to heed the advice given, not only by me but the numerous others who posted.  In this day and age no company can guarantee you work.
Not what I asked.
Then, how many MTs does TT have? Big company? Little company? I would like a number cause I'm curious.
I know that this has been asked before BUT (sm)

Can anyone give me information on TTD, Inc?  It is also known as TTD and The Transcription Doctors.  I have searched the archives with all 3 names and cannot find anything.  However, when I googled them I found 2 older posts on MTstars for them but was hoping for more current information.  TIA

Since you asked...I believe it's
We've gone from typewriters and using White-out to desktops and using Word shortcuts. That changed the way we transcribe. Because of the internet and home computers, a lot more of us are able to work from home.

Now, the same is happening with EMRs. How it all plays out is anybody's guess. My guess is there will be *growing pains* but, in the end, transcriptionists will never be without some sort of job. Someone mentioned data mining below, and there's also data tagging, which will probably become an *official* title here pretty soon.

There's also the opinion in
http://www.medical-transcription-and-you.com/healthcare-emr.html (you'll have to copy and paste) that there are still hundreds of millions of records being dictated the old-fashioned way, which will need transcriptionists to type them.
I believe that someone asked about this same

company a few days ago and someone else posted on the company but it would be wayyyyyyyyyyy on down the page by now or a couple of pages over.  People are answering posts on various companies, it is just with so many posts by MDIers and Transcenders they are getting shifted down very fast.

Hope you are able to find the post!!

Have you asked them about it yet?
That may just mean that if you drop your signal or something you're on your own. I would think that it would severely limit their employee pool if they only hired people who had one and only one person hard-wired into the modem at any given time.
Have you asked them about it yet?
After reading the 2nd agreement that says I can't have a wireless router, but I can have a regular router with Ethernet cord, I called help desk on the chance that someone would answer at 3 AM. A guy did and said that lots of people have routers, but you can't use the wireless kind and to call back when the office is open.
Yes, they asked for volunteers to help out.

I'm not kicking anything. Someone asked
shared my experience. I really don't think a $110 loss on my taxes is going to make or break me. I'm just giving people the heads-up on this company and how nasty they can be.
I asked this same question the
other day and got no responses.  I saw an ad for them on another site and was curious.  I also called directory assistance - no listing.
Who was venting? I asked
you to come nosing in with your helpless and rude comments.  I wasn't complaining.  I know my superiors are very busy and I just thought maybe a current Medware MT could help me out while I wait for a response.  Instead, you have made it a big huge long drawn out one-sided conversation from my simple questions.  Guess we all know that must mean you are a very boring person with nothing better to do with your life.  You don't know the circumstances of my hire.  I was offered a job and turned it down.  A few months later I returned and they got me set up right away and neglected to send me all the new hire information.  Not that it was any of your business anyway.....
No. It is employee. I just asked and have been
with them for over a year now. No SE work. Not sure why she posted their name because it is strictly employee status, not SE.
I hope not too. I asked about the
account they put me on, and they said they are training me on the account they specifically hired me for.  I answered their ad for a high percentage of ESL hospital dictation.  So far, every single report has been an ESL, some worse than others.  Like I said, I will see how it goes.  So far not easy, but doable.  I am giving it a chance, and will not quit MQ.  If I don't like it, I will quit.  I have a family to support.
I asked this before and don't think it was answered (sm)
Have you ever heard of or worked for Orion (OMT)?  Been offered a job and am considering it.
no one asked you to work for them, did they? lol
some companies offer ZILCH

go point your shame somewhere else

at least they are offering what they can and are open about it

You asked the question.

You got the answer.  What part don't you understand?

If you want to be used as a tool to tweak the BeyondTXT VR platform so it will work smoothly for the Indians who will replace you, or if you are only looking for a temporary job with no future, then go work for Transcend.

But don't come back here whining and saying you weren't warned.

It sounds as though they asked for
the client name from the way the post was written, not just the national's name.  If that is what happened, that would be unethical.  If all that was asked was who is your employer that, of course, would be needed information in the hiring process.
Yes, I was asked to take the test for
I have questions:

Do you have to use a c-phone? What are the two phone lines about?

Are the medical benefits decent? How much for a single person?

Do they require weekend work and holidays such as memorial day and Christmas?

Anything else you can offer would be appreciated.
Don't do it. She asked all MTs to wait for their
checks in January and told us that it would happen again in July. I had bounced checks, late checks and the owner is a snake. Not the same as Keystrokes. LeePerfect's owner's first name is not Lee.
I'm glad you just asked that
I just applied, got an email back to go take the test in the employment area. I went to the employment area and I can't find anything at all regarding a test so I emailed them back. I also went back in the archives and found some from a while ago and they're weren't good with respect to pay. I'd like to hear if there are people who have more recent experience.
Have you asked their recruiters? -nm
xx
No, I asked to be changed.
x
Obviously I could not find anything or I would not have asked. Why is everyone
on here so rude?
Glad you asked this, because I'm going through the same.
I fluctuate-some days I can hit 185 lph without seeming to try, other days I am going at it fast and furious and barely get over 100. I also think it's DQS, and I think it's platform-wide. Seems that my worst days correlate with renewed complaints over on the MQ board here.

I think there is something very twisted about this platform.
Yes they do. I asked them when I was interviewed and they
relunctantly told me they did only if the client asks  to.  Now I'm sure they are going to the client and saying we'll offshore you're work if you want us to - NOT.
I know this has been asked before but anyone currenting with DSG and how is it going there by now.nm
:
Not me - have you asked for a backup? (sm)
but I do think the holiday and bad weather has something to do with it.  Don't worry.  It's a great company. I've been there for a year and have no intentions of going anywhere else.
Somebody asked who got fired
You know we can't give names on this forum but a person in tech support and her both got fired because she did not report him for something. I wish I could say more but can't.  I don't know if you know her or not, she was not my AC and I know her only by name, all I know is what I heard through the grape vine.
Exactly my point when I asked about it below...thank you (nm)
mmmmmm
She asked for an opinion and got one. Who are
you to discount my opinion and those of others who have posted that they DON'T like either of these companies?

Evidently you've appointed yourself as the opinion police and spelling police. Have a dose of maturity and go off-duty, soldier. This isn't a medical report. Typos happen. Opinions happen. Deal with both.
