VTS' policies on IC vs employee status: You start out as IC for the first 90-day trial period. Then, after that time, if you are happy with them and they are happy with you, you are offered employee status, either part-time or full-time. PT requires 5000 lines per pay period, FT requires 9000. Direct deposit is then offered after the 90-day period, as well as health insurance.
As far as experience/testing, I only had a phone interview and was hired, but I have over 25 years' experience. Once again, they feel that during the 90-day period it is decided whether or not you are qualified to do the job. The accounts are mostly based in Michigan, which have basically no ESL. I'm not quite sure how many years' experience they require out of new hires.
I left FutureNet for the same reason as you are contemplating leaving your current employer. I felt I deserved employee status rather than IC, which they would never offer. And yes, there are other companies out there that treat us with dignity and respect, and where we can be valued for our knowledge and expertise.
Good luck to ya ---
