My experience was UGLY. Very ugly.
Just keep your other job until you're sure....good luck.
Some are overwhelmed
Some companies may simply be overwhelmed with applications. I know our company has been with each ad we place. It takes a while to go through hundreds of applications. When you have only a few people going through all the applications, plus doing the usual operation duties, plus training new hires, plus being heavily involved with bringing on new clinics, it does take time to get back to every applicant.

I'm not saying that is the case with all companies, but sometimes one person can only do so much in a day, hence the reason to hire more and delegate some those duties. In our case, growth has been rapid enough it can be a struggle to get it all done in a day--and mighty long days at that!

Just trying to give some explanation for the other side :) Good luck to you.
They have probably been overwhelmed with resumes since

they have been discussed so much lately.  I sent a resume and was offered a position without testing within just a few days of submitting it.  I accepted the position and they said it would take  1 to 2 weeks to get all the paperwork done, equipment, and get clearance from the account to access their system.  I ended up not accepting the position so not sure how long it would really take to get going.

From your statement it seems like you are overwhelmed with ASR
I have been working on the same system now for about 5 years and no outsourcing on our job because of it. I still have corrections to make, numbering seems to be an issue some as I have been told the dictators when numbering should all say next and then the machine knows to go to the next number but the dictators do not always do that. I am saying I was told that, do not quote on that point. My pay was never cut 50%, I make over $20+ an hour on voice now and right from the start (again has to do with system and training) our system just seemed to be an exceptional one. Some people do not like, others like me love it. No I am not MTSO, never have been, no I have no stock in the company, no I am not a newbie (30+ years here) and no I am not a slow transcriptionist. Just thought I would answer all the come backs before they appear. The same ones appear over and over as to why a person could possibly like voice. If most at your company entered almost exactly alike, the machine would train itself. If everyone works differently, say 1 person indents for numbering, another does not, then there is the issue. Sorry you have had such unhappy time with your program.
I think this site is overwhelmed...
I don't think it has anything to do with your experience. Now granted I am a newbie and just landed my first job after months, and months of looking, but I only got 1, yes ONE response from anyone of of the job boards on here, and that was to tell me thanks, but we picked one of the other 250 applicants!! (And trust me I applied to EVERYTHING that didn't specify experience requirements for the past 4-5 months.) So I think this website has just become overwhelmed with people trying to find jobs, and the only way you have a shot is to be one of the first few that applies. The job I got was from just searching for local MT companies in my area, going on their website and sending them an email to see if they were hiring.....the place that hired me wasn't at the time, but two months later they emailed back and boom I was hired! I think it says more too if you seek them out and ask for a chance instead of just applying to a list of jobs on a board! Anyways, hope this helps! Good luck with your search!
I have had a similar experience - must be overwhelmed.nm
nm
I imagine they are totally overwhelmed with applications right now.
I would give them a little bit of time to get back with you. I just can't phanthom the amount of applications they've probably received from those wanting to maintain a SE status. That's where I'm headed & actually looking forward to it. I wish you the best & hope you hear from them !!
Comment from December says they're understaffed and overwhelmed, no time for their MTs.nm
.
Comments on this board from 12/2005 said staff was overwhelmed and had no time to help their MTs.

paperwork
Hi, Not with this company, but if they are overwhelemed it will take time -- also, Fed Ex and UPS are recovering from the holidays and may have subsitutes on the routes -- ie -- I live in rural FL and my roommate FREAKED today because she thought someone was in the mailbox -- sub carrier -- they a lot of times are NOT familiar with the route and the BEST thing that I can suggest to ANYONE is to call the company and get the tracking # -- I did it and most are very accommodating and that way you can see if it is in transit -- if it says delivered and a time and its not under a doormat, in the yard, in a mailbox, etc THEN worry
paperwork
Did you get yours via email? How long did it take to receive it? I was half expecting to get it today because everything else went to quickly.........
Paperwork
Yes, I got an e-mail with attachments to print out all the paperwork required. Then, I filled it all out and faxed it back.
I have already gotten a call from their IS to check my computer system, which they did, and now just waiting for the ID #'s from hosp and then IS will call me back to load software into my comp. Heard from them today, said I should be good to go by end of this week.
Paperwork
My God....that was pretty quick...wished I owned my on computer....would apply....
Paperwork?
When did you receive that paperwork?  I've received nothing in the mail at all from Transcend.  From the communications I've gotten, it's just going to transfer over, which I would hope means all of our information as well.  I know they are supposed to be sending us the policy and procedures manual.  Is that what you are talking about?
I bet you 1 million $$ you won't find one on mine. Mine is
2 years old and it does not have a 9-pin serial port, nor does it have a game port.   I have used both ports on other computers so I know what both ports look like.  I also have a company provided computer and it does have the ports on it.
Can you check you paperwork again
it was Sten-Tel in MA. To my knowledge, they email all paperwork as attachments. That is how I received mine. Most companies don't go through the expense of mailing this. They refer you to their website if you are just inquiring. If you have been hired, they email the info to you.

What you have said does not sound like Sten-Tel in Springfield, MA - AT ALL.
In all the paperwork they sent you there is probably a schedule (sm)
showing payperiods for the year. Welcome aboard.
New hire paperwork
Did you mail or fax back all the new hire paperwork? I had to pay Kinko's $1.50 per page to fax back 15 pages as I don't have a fax machine and don't know anyone who does. It would be nice if they would mail the paperwork and allow MTs to mail it back as opposed to them emailing it and placing the responsibility on the MT to print out several pages and then find a way to fax it all in....expensive if you don't have a fax machine.
In all paperwork sent before hire, probably are
x
The current paperwork
they gave me mentions that very thing and how if the doctor changes Dear Dr X to Dear Bob, if it is not changed MTs don't get paid. This must be a big issue with the docs so they are sticklers on this I guess. So I guess I have no excuse and should not have that problem.
Sorry, meant 'your paperwork'

that does sound like a lot of paperwork...just curious though
I applied for the orthopedic position and was sent an email with 4 pages to download. After reading the info, my computer met only 1 requirement. Did your computer meet all the requirements needed to work for them? CONGRATS!
Ditto here just sent back all my new paperwork!
Good riddance to OSi.
You get paid for the shuffling paperwork.
Maybe it makes up for the motormouths who dictated a full page in 1 minute. Actually if you are a fast (and accurate) Transcriptionist you can probably make $25 to $30 an hour.
I don't remember filling out all that paperwork.

I remember how peeved everyone was about having to do it and I think it was resolved without the background checks, etc. I could be wrong, 'cause that was about 2 years ago and my memory fails me after 1-1/2 days. LOL

I surely would like some truth for a change and not inuendos or plain old hate towards the company from posters. They never really answer the questions posted on where they get their facts, so I question if their posts are truthful or if they just want to cause trouble, or rile everyone up like they have been doing.

I was hired, called by Becky, sent the paperwork, sent it in sm
and waited two weeks for an ID. I have been working for three weeks now and it is great. Obviously, your situation was unique as I came to KS on the recommendation of two of my ex-co-workers and they had no problems either, both with KS for a few years. Get over it. If you want to work for them, call and talk to them. If you don't, move on. Why are you rehashing the same thing over and over. What do you want the outcome to be?
How long does it usually take to get started once you fill out paperwork for MDI-FL? sm.
I filled out my paperwork about a week ago and have not heard from anyone.  Does anyone know how long it usually takes to start with MDI-FL?  Or has anyone had any problems hearing back from there once they said You are hired?
I filled out the paperwork and late the same day they called
to setup an interview the next day and I was immediately offered a position.   They have a large account coming on-line very soon and are trying to train several people too, so there may be a backlog.  I was hired 2 weeks ago and start training later this week.
I think the new hires really need to read thier paperwork. They get a ton of it.
sdf
Didn't you get paperwork, offer letter, etc? sm
If they offered you a position and are already so far as setting you up with your account I would have thought you would have already filled out the required paperwork and sent in copies of your Social Security card, etc. (so you would know which company hired you).  That said, there is only one Keystrokes of which I am aware.  I would call them.
Just filled out my new hire paperwork today-sm
I'm glad to hear encouraging things. I'm really excited! I'm just P/T so all the OT stuff and what not does not apply to me anyway.
You'll get employment paperwork via email. sm
The HR person is out emergently today and yesterday, so there may be a delay. Storm on its way to Illinois today too!
read again; not only does the paperwork say Hard Wire ....

Archives say low pay, overwhelming paperwork to wade thru, need a second line & get

Anyone currently with Oracle? Do they still drown you with paperwork and endless acct.

Let me check my paperwork and I'll shoot you an email. NM

I applied, tested, returned my paperwork and NOTHING.. no followup ...NOTHING

Disorganization is my number 1 pet peeve and reason for NOT going any further with a company. I used my time to apply and test and fax paperwork back so you'd think they could have done their part and at least followed up. I could even assume that maybe they didn't get my paperwork, that does happen with fax machines, but you would have thought someone would have emailed, called, something to ask where it was. I would not accept a position with a company like that. My thoughts are this....if they are so unorganized that they cannot receive the paperwork and get you going, then am I sure that I will get my checks on time and that they will not get ignored or put aside. So, for me, I'd give them a thumbs down.

I can't find the exact paperwork now, but thought there was a choice sm
between $500 deductible and $1500 deductible, with about a $20 difference in the premiums each pay period.  Otherwise, both plans are identical with a $20 or $30 copay for doctor visits.  However, I could be wrong about both -- wouldn't swear to it.
Not just MT, any computer skills, paperwork, etc. could be difficult. I am just guessing. (nm)

We were not ugly

We were not ugly.  Stacy came on and stated that her two  most important factors in chosing a company was to have a computer provided and to have paid maternity leave and that was in CAPS.  She did not state that she was wanting to earn more PTO time and to use that, she wanted to be PAID after having a child.  At 4 hours per pay period that is 12 days a year and that is pretty norm for this profession.  Like I told Stacy, would you pay a babysitter or a nanny when they wanted six weeks off and you had to pull in someone to do their job so you were paying double and earning the same income.  It is really hard to provide benefits and a decent pay in this field.  Yell at me all you want, but the balancing act is very hard to do.   And like the prior poster also said, the companies change so often between merges, buy-outs, and out sourcing that what you sign on for in 2006 probably won't be the same in 2007 or 2008 for sure.  So if stability is what Stacy wants, I think that she needs to look elsewhere like a union job or a state/city or county position where it is spelled out in black and white what she will receive for the next three years.  We did not mean to make you feel bad but again, you posted several times about maternity leave and we are not mind readers you should have posted need to accrue PTO at a faster rate.   But we were not nasty or ugly and just stated the facts in this field.

bad and ugly.
x
Not sure why you have to be ugly
What was the purpose of the very nasty responses to this question?  I happen to agree w/ the original poster on this and see no reason for why you had to be so hatefuly in replying.  Did it make you feel better?  Do you talk to your employers, friends, families, etc., this way?    If so, I must say I feel sorry for you AND them.
Why do you have to be so ugly about it?!?!
I did not take it as this person ripping apart any company at all.  They were just stating what so many on this board have stated many, MANY times and in a sense they are correct.  It does not take much to set up an automated reply, trust me if I can do it, anyone can.  I just don't understand why people have to attack others on this board when they are simply just stating THEIR opinion, if you don't like it then stop reading and move on to another post, it's that simple.
If you read your paperwork, you'll see that is an option they have. Also, the state of Illinois
does not have right to work law, any employer can fire you at any time without cause.
Recent contact who was there said they were unorganized, paid low, & flooded you with paperwork.
s
anyone have trouble with focus infomatics sending hire paperwork
or trouble getting paid?  I am not off to a good start with them in that regard ... they won't/haven't sent me any paperwork and i refuse to work for free.  thanks.
Company emails and paperwork with lots of typos and misspellings
I recently started working with a small MTSO. In just about every email from the owner, I see typos, misspelled and misused words. Also, the same goes for all paperwork I have received. Even the QA manager does the same thing.

Would you bring such things to their attention?
Here is the good, the bad and the ugly. sm
I left KS a few months ago after having a near nervous breakdown. I had too much going on in my life and thought that it would be better to go work in a hospital.

The Good: They are growing, have very stable accounts and keep all their customers. Pay is on time and there is direct deposit. The rules have become clear in what is expected of you. They are very personal.

The Bad: The insurance is terrible and expensive but I heard they are getting BC/BS in the fall for sure. The pay used to be late here and there for a few days. It is fixed now and has been for a very long time. The growth caused some changes that did not work and more changes were made to correct the problems caused, which seemed like chaos from the outside looking in.

The Ugly: They went through some terrible growing pains a few years ago and have been dodging bullets from former employees. There were late checks and no direct deposit. There was not a lot of work because they overhired.

The diagnosis: Once they got over the hump several months ago, things evened out and have been for a while. I want to go back but I'm afraid they won't take me.

How do I know all this? My best friend still works there and is very, very happy. I made a mistake leaving but now my life is on an even keel. I made a lot of money there.
Ugly. Dont even consider it.
They profess to be a good fine Christian organization but they are FAR from it.
DRC good, bad, ugly?
Any info i.e. are they good to work for or anything would be appreciated.
99% good, No Bad, No Ugly ... sm
Except for a short period of time when work ran low on one account only my experience has been 99% good. No place is perfect, but I have absolutely no complaints. The people treat me like a human being, I love the platform, the sound quality is great, they pay the long distance bill, the benefits are superior. Best move I ever made.
