Two years ago, a friend of mine signed on with them.

Her big complaint was that there were so many ESLs that it was hard to make any money. Another friend signed on with them as well part-time and he had no complaints. There is plenty of work. They are very flexible. I think they use a Dictaphone platform. I did talk to the owner a couple of years ago and they offered me 8 cpl with a bonus weekend every month where I make 10 cpl, more depending on how much I produce. Again, this was 2 years ago.

A friend of mine worked there over 9 years
She loved it, but lost her benefits for some reason and is moving on to a different profession completely. She wants to get out of the house, after 17 years of transcribing. She did go to NJ to train, but that was way back then. They treated her like royalty while she was there though.
It has been a couple of years but I tried to work there and lasted 1 day and so did a friend of mine
The ESL were AWFUL.. It was all I got and I could not understand anything they said. They were out of California so had a real mixed bag of ESL but none of it was doable. Things could have changed, who knows.
Signed mine in January
so, how convenient is that?
I am asking actually for a friend of mine
who has also received responses, tested, and the sound file was horrible. I certainly remember testing myself personally and the sound file was horrible, but she's asking my friend to spend money on different programs, which I think is wrong. I only saw one old post from 2007 where she did not pay after a few weeks of this MT performing services. I personally felt she was sending me too many different e-mails to respond to as she is doing to my friend right now. I just don't want people to be taken advantage of, as her last company name she was going under was called Digital Transcription Services, so why would she change her name, if not to hide from the ones she has not paid. Just be very careful!
According to a friend of mine in management - sm
A potential employer can ask questions, such as - Would you hire this person back?
K
This happened to a friend of mine -
She still does not know the reason 3 years later. I think it is way too easy to dismiss someone these days with an e-mail and not return their calls because you have caller ID and see they are calling rather than just tell them the real reason. If it is because they do poor quality work or whatever I think at least being told that is better than nothing at all. Just plain rude to leave someone hanging if you ask me!
A friend of mine works there...(sm)
the pay rate sounded a little on the low side to me (I'm thinking around 7 cents, 65 cpl), but she really didn't have a whole lot of experience when she started, either. (We had worked together for about a year and I trained her as a new graduate before we both quit the company we were with.) She really likes working for them; it seems like their trainers/QA people are really decent folks who give pretty good and fair feedback, which is something she really likes.
I do know they have benefits for both FT and PT people, which is pretty rare these days.
A good friend of mine
who has been an MT for 30+ years had to quit Trans Tech because she was not making enough to pay her mortgage.
A friend of mine worked there
One of the accounts they have came from a hospital I worked for here in Ohio. A good friend of mine went to work there when they outsourced the radiology side. She got an e-mail out of blue with them stating they no longer needed her services. They did this to ALL of the 2nd and 3rd shift MTs. The reason she wants YOUR line rates is so she can the very least she has to pay. If she has this information up front, then she will not contact the MTs with higher line rates. They used to only pay 9 cents per line radiology and 8 cents per line acute care. They have also changed the way they post jobs as they used to post the amount of line rates for each specialty. Horrible Company!!
A friend of mine works for them
She's on a radiology account and the last I heard she loves it. Always plenty of work, pay always on time and accurate, and nice people.
Hope that helps.
Thanks ... I was thinking of a friend of mine who is unhappy sm
with her current job, doing radiology transcription at a local hospital. I was going to suggest she send her resumes to some of the national companies, but did not know which companies out there had radiology accounts. If Keystrokes is the best, then I'll suggest that to her. Thanks for the tip. :-)
As for me, I've been doing acute care since Moses was a baby, but doubt I could pass any kind of radiology test.
Friend of mine applied and she has not heard yet either - sm
It is legit as far as i know. It is an SBC global job, and they are known for hiring at-home people.
I work there, and a friend of mine just started. It took RO
about a week for her to hear back. Good luck! :-)
A friend of mine worked for Spheris
and she said they really sc***ed her.
Friend of mine cleared out pool for incentive - never got it
and now theyve bounced her fourth or fifth check. She's been gone for months and they're STILL messing with her
friend of mine worked in their office in Annapolis - sm
Two of her checks bounced. Owner flies off to India every other week to check on offices in India. His sales force is US, but 90% of work goes to India. Apparently the owner takes care of the India people and sales force first and foremost before he takes care of the US MTs and editors. This was a year ago - I don't know if things have changed/
A friend of mine has satellite and went to Precyse recently
nm
Same happened to friend of mine. Carol had pets.

A friend of mine very recently started working for them
I'll try to get ahold of her and see how it's going so far. She just started about a week or so ago.
If I hear anything, I'll let you know :-)
A friend of mine is a male and owns a transcription company. sm
He has no problem getting accounts and is quite wealthy from it. So, do not let your gender deter you!
His company is RX Transcription in Newtown Square, PA. Give him a call and maybe he can help you.
Okay, here is how a recruiter who is a friend of mine explained verbal tests to me.
Verbal tests are to give the recruiter a feel of what that MT knows off the top of their head. Not all people get nervous at verbal tests but a good recruiter has the insight to know if a wrong answer or lack of an answer is from not knowing or is from just being nervous. A verbal test is done just to get a feel for the the off the top knowledge of an MT plus you know that MT is taking it. This recruiter is also an MT and having gone through so many tests the long hard way decided this was the lesser of the evils. She did tell me though if she felt that MT knew their stuff and just could not respond because of nervousness that she noted that and just by a general conversation based on experience would not flunk someone like that. Lenghty tests prove very little except that an MT has been working for companies that all have different ways of style and that she felt that was not right to an MT; as well having to take tests that are hours long after an MT has been working long hours is also not fair to the MT. And my friend told me that in many cases there are MTs that literally have other MTs take their testing for them and you would not know it until that person starts the job. It depends on the recruiter and their knowledge of the industry. Each recruiter or company has their own way and usually they find the way that works best for them. I personally find that many recruiters just have no knowledge of the industry (inside knowledge) and it annoys me that someone like that is allowed to even have the opportunity to interview and test me. I can remember one with a company up north and their idea of punctuation was way too much. It should not have been an issue unless it changed the meaning of the report but had they gone by the Book of Style they would not have added those 20 or so commas throughout the 4 reports that they had me transcribe. I passed but when you have been in this industry for over 15 years and are being judged by someone that has not and who has not been in your MT dancing shoes then something about that just does not seem right. Anyway I doubt there really is a best way to do anything, but if I had my choice, I would prefer the way that is the shortest. Time is precious and for the rates they pay nowadays those tests are just too lengthy to go through that for a whopping 7 cents a line. No thank you. I'll chance my nerves over all that.
A friend of mine works for a hospital that has hired a director from one of the hospitals in
Pittsburgh and she wondered if he outsourced a lot of work or what he did when he goes into a new hospital. They have all at home employees now. I believe it was Allegheny Hospital.
Friend getting 7.5 cpl for a few years' experience. Not sure if they pay over 8.5 cpl for lots of

Friend has been there for years, only makes 7 cpl, work load very uneven. Looking to leave,

I got mine 2 years ago for myself-sm
and also because I wanted to distinguish myself from the pack of people who do this to make a little extra money or supplement the main income in the house. I agree that this initiative will probably fail unless the people who truly believe they are professionals will invest in themselves and get the CMT.
I wish everyone who is protesting this move could see that the letters after the name DO set you apart from the rest. We are paid less and less every year because we have too many people doing this as a sideline, too many people typing garbage and not enough people who take pride in their work and treat it as a career. If more people will get the credential, we can weed out the people who can't pass and start regaining the ground we've been losing for years.
I too have asked for a different account as mine of 3 years..sm
has now consistently been out of work...as well as my secondary! Up until recently I never even had time to do my secondary as my primary had tons of work but suddenly neither have. I have emailed Dorothy and indicated I needed more only to be told things will pick up. This is not a holiday thing as it has been happening for months now. I am looking for at least another part-time job which may turn into full time. I think we are getting the run-around and they have over hired and want to keep it that way so the reports are running a few minutes behind the dictators. Also, now that they have over hired they probably don't care too much if some of us have to leave! Bad situation for what was a great company.
Exactly. Gave mine up years ago. Waste of time & money.
x
Oh, no. Think I may have just signed on
Can you give a general idea of the misrepresented positions? Frankly, I'm going into the thing expecting the worst.
I signed on for that
and I've yet to see any work. I check daily. They don't care either if you don't have any work.
Well when I first signed on
they had work comming out of their ears, when I left there was hardly anything. I have heard they picked up again. I had 2 different supes. One on the training team, one on my team after traninng. They were both great.
They have 2 platforms, ex-text and Merit. I worked on Merit (sp). It had some good features and then some features EX text had that I wished it had. It ran great on my 6 yo cheapo computer I got from Wal-Mart.
The hospital that I am working at say they are going to ASR. They have not said, but I bet that means we will be getting a pay cut. They have already quit paying us for headers, footers. I don't know but if things get too bad I will probably look back into Medware FT if that tells you anything. HTH.
Tell them you signed up as an IC and will
work when you are able and/or want to. As an IC, let them know that they cannot hold you to specific hours as was agreed upon when you started with them.
Co-Signed!!!
I've even worked with *seasoned/experienced* MTs who refuse to change one single word of what a physician dictates, even when it is BLATANTLY an error and the correct word is obvious (calm down, I'm not talking medical lingo here, I'm talking basic English words). I've also worked with MTs who, if the dictator says *Discharge diagnoses, Same,* types precisely THAT, *Same*, rather than copying and pasting the admission diagnoses, even though she knows this is what she is supposed to do. *That's not what he/she said, he/she said 'SAME'.* I've seen those same careless your/you're, they're/their errors more times than I care to count as well.
I understand the faster we go, the more money we make but at the end of the day, I'm willing to make a little less in exchange for turning out an accurate, quality report.
Those are my initials at the bottom of that patient record. I couldn't sleep at night or look myself in the mirror if I knew I was shipping through a lesser quality report just to make a few more cents.
And if it was your mother/father/sister/brother/child lying in that hospital bed or terminally ill attending a clinic, would you want an MT rushing through their report at breakneck speed, accuracy thrown to the wayside?
Errors like this don't make the work of US MTs any better than that of the Indian MTs, I'm sad to say.
Yep she is the one who signed up
Ummm - we care about our interests too. That's why we DIDN'T sign up. Sorry you were fooled. Did you already run out of work or something? The ads say they have tons of work?
I bet you 1 million $$ you won't find one on mine. Mine is
2 years old and it does not have a 9-pin serial port, nor does it have a game port. I have used both ports on other computers so I know what both ports look like. I also have a company provided computer and it does have the ports on it.
Have you signed a contract with them yet? sm
I haven't even set up a time to train yet but I just faxed my contract in this morning and I am supposed to get my lanier sometime next week. I guess I probably pestered her; I would rather say I was persistent : ). I had another company with an offer standing and I didn't have time to wait around and let the other one slip by in case things didn't work out. Luckily, they did and I am very happy with my choice.
Not much, but I'm all signed up to start there!
I think it's going to be great. :o>
Many have signed noncompete re:
You cant just make contact with a client of a company - if you have signed a noncompete / no contact - if they are money hungry / desperate they will sue for any contact with a client - however, if they go out of business - no competition there.
Even if you did not sign, I am sure they would find a way to tie up your life and be an annoyance.
When I signed on a year ago
I got an hourly rate for 3 weeks. The pay depends on your cpl offered x125 (lph) x 8.
I just signed on with Transcend
a week ago and am getting their stats now although I have not officially started working. The workload does look low. I had also tested with another company one day last week called Precyse. I received an e-mail today saying that I passed their test and will be contacting me so I will see what they have to offer. I thought I was in luck because this local hospital ran an ad in our local newspaper saying they want a Medical Records Clerk, FT with excellent benefits. That is all the ad read. I went and applied this morning. Fully steady pay with benefits sounds so good. The hospital is a block away and I can leave my work there and not have it staring me in the face 24/7. I am just afraid that the word clerk in the ad means minimum wage.
You signed on with the company sm
based on what you saw on the board? Didn't you ask all of this during your interview? Just curious.
already signed up. its about time nm

just signed on with weekly company
I just signed on with a company that pays weekly. Great people!! Very friendly. Paychecks mailed every Monday. No platform as of yet so a little slow in building up line count. But I'll stick around until they obtain a platform.
I signed the Acusis papers
I don't know what I'm legally allowed to say anymore. Is it a company secret to say I'm suddenly out of work or doing scraps by mid-morning or noon? (Treading carefully, since this is not clear.) It is a new time to be out of work, in June. What's an overly motivated MT? They push and push for you to produce more and when you do they slow you down?
I was told a completely different reason why we were out of work.
There goes pay and PTO (again).
You signed nothing? Not even a HIPAA agreement? I would think she sm
would be in hot water over that. Generally, you sign the HIPAA agreement and the contract at the same time. DId you talk about pay at all and make a verbal contract?
I agree with everyone else. Until some sort of pay is establishied, I wouldn't work anymore, PLUS, not sure I would want to work there anyway with all of the phone calls and drama that you described. It sounds like you would be signing up for a duty in Hell.
I'm sorry you have gone through all of this. Good luck to you.
Thanks for the info - I signed the petition sm.
and I was the 54th person from Florida - kind of sad that there have only been 54 people in my whole state to have signed this - sigh, but thanks for the info - will pass along to everyone I know!
The post on the other site is by the owner. It is there signed
by her for anyone to read which shows that much of what that poster said is true and she has also posted before about the time they had to cut pay. I believe she genuinely wants things to change and is trying but she did post this on a public board about the pay problems, the plans, as well as whatever else was on her mind and it is there to be read by all so when you say what you just said, the owner posted all of the information that shows that poster was right on with what they said.
Well the stuff from the other site signed by the owner is
the owner. It's there to read.
Obviously you aren't there anymore since you signed as an ex-JLGr!
x
I thought about doing that - but then signed up for nursing school instead
for basically the same reasons - cannot be taken out of the country! Enjoy a change of pace. You will be a great bus driver, I'm sure.
Sorry to blither, but if they run a report on hours per day signed in (sm)
you would have to justify some way why it wasn't OT wouldn't you?
Not signed in currently, but have you e-mailed Tech Support? NM
xx
