Trying to decide between offers

Morning all - I have a dilema and would like some opinions on what you would do. I have been offered 2 positions. One is with a company that provides equipment pays higher, but I would be doing reports that I am not that great with and they are ESLs. The second offer I have to provide my own equipment and will have to spend about $80 to get what I need and they pay about 2 cents per line less, but they are easier work types and not as many ESLs. Which would you choose? I'm sure I'll get a lot of those nasty posts I have seen lately because you think it is simple , but I do know there are a few of you out there who will not be nasty and give me your honest opinion.

Please let me know what you decide sm
It never used to be this way. I used to love this office and recommended so many people in the past - but no more! What a train wreck. I can't get used to all the accents/formats with the constant flipping.
Please let me know what you decide and
please let me know what you choose and how it works out for you. When I worked for MS, I seriously considered getting a job at Micckey D's. The pay was just so low, came to about $7.00 an hour.
Let us know which one you decide to go with.
Good luck. Hope it works out for you.
You need to decide... (sm)
You need to decide if you have more faith in today's BL message from DRC management or if you trust an anonymous post on MTStars that KS compensation is being decreased. (It wasn't hard for me to think that one through, but YMMV.)
I would define in the near future and for now just as those phrases were defined in the meeting: 100 days. (I love the work I do, love the account I'm on, have always been treated more than fairly by DRC and I'm willing to give it 100 days, but again YMMV.)
Clandestine? Cloak and dagger? I don't think you and I received the same phone call! My supervisor was very direct in telling me the purpose of the meeting. I knew she had a long list of MTs to call and I didn't press her for any of the nitty-gritty. I appreciated the fact that she called me personally instead of management sending out a mass email.
You said I should listen to the MTs here who've been through this kind of thing before. Honey, I HAVE been through it before. Does the word *harmonization* ring any bells? I was with MQ for nine years, started there when it was TL, stayed through the MQ buy-out of TL, adjusted and thought I'd found a home, and then Philips Electronics came along. (I believe that would qualify as a buy-out of an American company by a foreign entity, but on a much much larger scale than DRC/Acusis and with many more Suits involved, and pay scales to tinker with and platforms to make less productive. So, yeah, BTDT.)
Do I have any suggestions about where you should apply for a new job? Nope. Do I have any suggestions for you in general? Yes. There are a lot of things in life I can't control, but I CAN control my attitude and I'm choosing to approach these changes as positively as I can. If I'm wrong and the wheels fall off, it's not because I didn't put my best effort into it, and I'll be okay with that. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');

Help Me Decide
Keystrokes or Trans Tech - please. Any pros and cons will be appreciated. TIA
Help me decide!
I am applying with Transform, UST (US Transcription), Keystrokes, and MDI (though they're IC and I'd prefer benefits). Who would you recommend? I have heard good things about all of these companies and will have trouble deciding.
Thanks :)
how to decide
I think it would be best for you to interview the companies. You have a list of questions and/or concerns, do a phone interview and jot down the answers. Ask them for 24 (or 48) hours to make a decision. Take a close look at your apples and oranges and then jump in and get your feet wet.
Please help me decide what to do..sm
Ever since I learned about this VR switch it is constantly on my mind and I honestly do not know what to do. I love MDI, have been there for 6 years and they have always been very fair and good to me. I transcribe about 325 lines per hour and make good money. My pay will be cut by 2/3 on VR. From all I have read it may be possible to do twice as much which is still a big pay cut. I know MDI is a good company and I hate to leave and if I must learn VR as it is the wave of the future I would prefer to do it with MDI. On the other hand,I have been an MT for over 25 years, all in acute care, and the thought of being paid 1/3 of my hard-earned line count to correct the mistakes that the machine who took my job is making is just a bit hard to accept. Unlike a poster below, I don't think that getting assigned another account at MDI is a viable option. There are just too many of us affected by this VR switch and not enough other accounts to go around. My decision is..should I stay with a known good company, learn VR and hope for the best on my line count..or should I simply be looking for another job. From the posts I read here it seems that great companies like MDI are few and far between. Please feel free to offer opinions/advice either here or email me privately. I just can't seem to make a decision! Thanks.
I still am trying to decide,
but am trying to follow my gut like you said Robin. I will decide for sure tomorrow. For now, I'm going to sleep on it, LOL.
Whatever you SE people decide
to switch to, 8 or 16 or 24 or 39 or what the hell, you cannot change it for a year. So take your time deciding. I don't know when you have to decide by. If you are FT and want to stay FT no paperwork necessary. Just get your ankle braclet (hahaha). I will be right there with ya...
You're asking if there is one? Yes...you decide (sm)
You decide what you're going to commit to daily and turn it in. You have 24 hours to get your line commitment in that day. Pretty cool, huh?
SUMMERTIME...did you decide on this yet??
I'm still looking and thought about Transcend...??
If you decide to quit...
put out a resume on the job boards and list what platforms you are familiar with, don't know what OSi uses. But, if someone is in the hiring mode and you're familiar with their platform, you could get up and running pretty quickly since you wouldn't need training on the platform.
what did u decide on Precyse
Saw the add too and sounds good but without any input from other people working for them (except really old replies) don't want to leave where I am.
If you decide to do this, I am still interested,
I have over 25 years experience in acute care, but mostly in radiology. I started in radiology in house, then went to a service and did acute care, then to Secrephone which eventually became MQ where I did acute care, then it was back to radiology. I am really very interested and offer whatever help I can.
How did you decide this was political?
We are online already with medical records. If we were not, we would not have jobs working from home in this industry!!
That may be unless they decide to phase
out the current MTs and send the work to India MTs, but who knows.
Trying to decide between MedWare and Webmedx. Help!!! anyone??
Who would you choose as far as platform, benefits, and pay goes.. and also stability of accounts. Bouncing around on accounts is a good way to lose productivity in a hurry..
Ok, there's 3 of us...trying to decide between TransHealth and Precyse
Anybody worked for both?
How long do you give a new job before you decide it isn't right for you? sm
My saga follows. Please go to the bottom of post for my question :)
I've been with my current company as a PT emp. for 2 1/2 months. Everything about them seems to be quite fair, not great, but very fair. I'm still on hourly pay of a whopping $8.50 till I get my production up. Therein lies the problem, I cannot EVER see getting my line count up with the inordinately excessive number of ESLs on my acct. It's just ridiculous. All I'm asking is to actually TRANSCRIBE for a living, instead of rewinding and relistening 1000 freakin' times a day.
I've never gotten the feeling that I'm being taken advantage of or given the crap work, I just believe I'm on a very high percentage ESL account. I don't mind doing ESLs, I really don't. I just want more understandable drs thrown into the mix.
This is my first job after graduating and I was lucky enough to be hired for acute care. I'd like to continue in acute care. I just want to be able to PRODUCE, improve and ENJOY my job. I want to be doing MT work for many years to come.
If you've made it this far, thank you. I'd just like some opinions from those of you with more experience about what you might do in my situation.
Also, how long do you give a job before you decide it's not a good fit for you? Am I giving up too quickly?
Thank you so much in advance for your input!
If you don't like things now, can you decide on your own about your future? nm
.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Go with your gut. If you're second guessing yourself, there's probably a good reason for it. There will always be another client, but a bad reputation will be a lot harder to overcome.
Medware of Alltype? Can't decide. nm

If you do decide to go with Vonage, WARNING: (sm)
Make sure the person who is taking your order understands and speaks coherent English. I called on 2 separate occasions to open an account, and both times the customer service representative repeated my credit card number INCORRECTLY to me. This made me very uncomfortable as far as their competency.
Additionally, after these occurrences, I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor or manager and was told that he is in a meeting now and that there was no one else of higher authority that I could speak with. The call ended by the customer service rep asking me to call back later. What a hoot! Yea right buddy. NOT!!!!
Medware or Diskriter, trying to decide...sm
Any comments on either good or bad? Thanks.
Have to decide between Keystrokes and Axoltol.
Pay is about the same though benefits are better at Axoltol. Both have a fairly high percentage of ESLs.
Both have lots of good comments.
I don't have to decide today but in the next couple of days. I thought about trying both for a couple of weeks, but I'm already exhausted and don't know how I could do that. Also Axolotol provides computer so I'd hate to get it and a week later send it back.
I got offered hourly. Trying to decide. nm
....
All this info is helping me decide nm
thanks
Webmedx and TransTech, Can't decide
I have been offered jobs with both companies, and would love to hear the good and bad of each if anyone has anything to offer.
Offered a new local job and trying to decide. sm
The new job is MT but it is not straight typing. It is basically putting reports together from a check list with occasional regular transcription. Will also be building reports from handwritten documentation. The doctors are all available and do not mind you asking if you cannot read something. I met all 11 of them today. There is 1 week vacation time the first year, 2 years after that. Med insurace is $30 per pay check is very good. Family is around 120 per check. They have retirement as well. It is also 8-5 M-F. All holidays off and paid. Now, here is the drawback. They only start at 13.50 per hour. They do give annual raises of a minimum of 5%. Travel is not a big issue as it is only 10 minutes or less from my house. The low pay I am a bit worried about. What is your opinions? All are appreciated. Also one last thing, this is a specialty clinic and I have always done acute care but know the specialty well.
Review of Transcend for Those Trying to Decide...
First, sympathies to all of you at MDI. Been there, experienced it, it's pretty hellish to be involved in a merger on the best of days.
I've been with Transcend for some time now, and these are the points to consider:
The people are nice for the most part. I know that sounds like damning with faint praise, but I do have to say the TLs and upper management aren't asses about taking time off, helping with QA, etc.. when you can find someone to answer your e-mail.
The dictators aren't terrible. The worst ESLs dictate very rarely, so you only have to deal with them every now and then.
The platform is okay. Could be worse, could be better. I don't like it one bit personally, but to each her own.
Now for the other side of things...
There's no work. The jobs come in VERY slowly; it's the norm for me to log in to find maybe ten jobs waiting for an entire shift. I've spent many a shift checking every hour (as per company direction) to find myself wasting hours sitting at my computer surfing the internet. Yes, you can request secondary accounts... only to find yourself staring at another screen with no work on it. If you're willing to work on five to six accounts, you may be able to make the minimum line count, but I watch the numbers on ALL accounts and they're ALL very low on a consistent basis, so this is doubtful.
It's extremely unlikely you'll make the minimum to qualify for insurance or the sign-on bonus (if MDI-ers are being offered this).
Communication is very poor. It's the norm to send multiple e-mails about an issue to get no reply. The TLs and TMs change constantly and you're not informed.
If you don't make the minimum FT line requirements, you'll be sent letters of commitment which are basically written warnings about lack of production. If you inform them that you'd LIKE to make production but there's NO WORK with which to do so, even on your SECONDARY account, the answer is Try to get on another secondary, but for now we need you to sign this letter and return it. Basically, that translates as You're not making minimum because there's no work, but we're still giving you a warning. After this letter of commitment, they will give you one pay period to achieve the 900$ FT rate, then drop you to PT.
I'm making roughly 500$ PPP right now - started out making around 700$ PPP and watched it steadily decline (instead of increase) as the workload shrank.
I'm sticking it out for another couple of months and then I'm off to other pastures.
Hope this helps someone trying to decide about Transcend. Best of luck to you all, wherever you end up.
You didn't exactly answer the question. Let her decide for herself. nm

Cymed or Medscribe in Florida? pls help me decide
So far these are the two companies that have offered me a job and I have been reading not so nice feedbacks. Since I have no choice right now and I need a job immediately, I would like to ask anyone if I have to choose between the two? Which one do you think I should choose? Your inputs will be greatly appreciated
OK. That's enough info. to make me decide not to pursue it for now. Thanks again. NM

Passing through--update when you decide on a company please. sm
I'm not too thrilled with Wx myself and would like to see what a fellow ex-Qer finds a good company. Thanks.
Good luck with the testing if you decide...sm
to take the test. I have heard of MTs having 20+ years exp and failing. I also failed. I don't know what on Earth I could have done differently. I thought I did good on it. It was the transcription part of the test I failed and don't know how I faied.
If you take it, good luck.
Can't decide if she's rude or psychotic, to be honest
Just a guess, but sounds like you're in dire need of a benzodiazpine...
SOAP Transcription and Transcend Services? Need to decide.
Got job offers from both. Pay and benefits look to be about the same. Anyone work(ed) for either or have worked for both? Good, bad, or any other comments regarding either company?
How is the family health plan with each? Cost? Coverage?
Thanks.
Funny, but the lady I talked to on the phone about a job there made me decide right then for some
gut feeling that this wasnt for me. Not sure exactly what it was but sort of turned me off.

Two offers
I jumped at the first offer because I was on a long dry spell. The next day I got another offer. Same pay but excellent samples, directions, you name it. Better than the first company. First company is like typing in an old DOS program, second company uses Word. First company requires a different type pedal, second company (I USE MY OWN). Can I do them both?
I got many offers off of here
and two other places I can't mention or my posts get deleted.
MDI -MD offers 24 hrs, I think. nm

HELP, 2 offers
on the table.
One offer is Med-Scribe, FL. I did get offered the split shift that I prefer also.
Other offer is Medquist for more cpl. I was offered a split shift that I am not too fond of but need split shift.
I am weighing pros and cons of each and am stuck. Any info to help me weigh these two companies would be great......like what flexibility each has, anybody working for either, anybody happy with either?
low offers
I agree that there will always be someone willing to accept a low offer just to gain some experience. But, you get what you pay for. If a company expects quality work, we can expect quality pay for said work! The turnover rates would be a lot lower and the MTs (and MTSOs) would be a lot happier. It's a win-win situation.
Two job offers - very undecided -
One offer from Diskriter, part time (30 hours) PTO. They pay $12/hour for down time, including when no work is available. The other is Landmark, a fairly new business, but the owners seem really wonderful. Has anyone had any personal experience with either of these companies? Both are paying in the range of what I wanted.
TIA!!
K
IC, SE or employee? I have 3 job offers and
am not sure which way to go. I have little if any write-offs, so I'm thinking employee. The per line amount is the same. The SE offer counts spaces but no headers & footers and the employee offer does not count spaces but does count headers and footers and offers W/E and night differentials. The only real advantage I'm seeing is the greater flexibility with IC. Any advice? Thank you.
MDI-MD offers what you're looking for
They're awesome to work for. I'm on a super easy account, that I don't mind sharing the info on - it's for a hospital in eastern Maryland. The docs are easy, the platform is easy. I've even typed radiology for the account and couldn't believe how easy that was as well!! I have a 12 hour window, but I like getting up early and knocking out my lines in less than 6 hours! $$
