Transcend stinks...They used to be awesome but it has gone from bad to worse.

My line count has gone down so I have no doubt they are manipulating line counts and communication is the worse. Everything falls on deaf ears unless they have a problem with you, then they email you very quickly, but forget getting help on anything else. The more TL and QA people they have added the worse it has gotten. Maybe the problem is that they are not sure what their job descriptions are so no one answers emails. I'm done with them.

It seems no one pays much anymore and if they don't post their pay and ask you to state what your requirements are and you tell them, you never hear from them again. Or worse, they have idiotic platforms that are not MT friendly, no matter what they say. I swear there are no decent-paying jobs out there anymore for the MTs who have been doing this for over 20 years.
I knew Transcend stinks,
and they try to hide behind a femce with everything including training pay, which you do not get.
Transcend Is Awesome
Before working at Transcend I had never worked for a home based transcription company. I had always heard horror stories about being an independent contractor, no benefits, and fighting for work. I had a friend tell me about this company that she had heard of called Transcend. She said that you could become a full-time employee and get benefits at a cost that was actually very reasonable. As a divorced mother, who had commuted 30-40 miles to work every day, I was intrigued and decided to check it out. No, I am not an inexperienced newbie, I have been doing medical transcription since 1982. I decided to take a chance with Transcend after working in multiple various hospitals and clinics. It was the best decision I ever made. I have been with the company for a little over two years now and have never been happier with a job.
Yes, I have worked myself up to the role of Team Lead, a position that I love. I am allowed to mentor while I work alongside the wonderful MLS on my team. I consider all my coworkers my friends, which is an amazing statement to make about people I have never met face-to-face. This includes everyone from MLS, to TLs, QA, to higher management. Everyone has a close relationship and is only an IM, Email, or phone call away.
Several of my accounts do utilize outsourcing, but we monitor everything they do. If we don’t like their work or we get customer complaints, corrective action is taken immediately. Several accounts have been removed from outsourcing not at the request of the customer but at our own discretion because we do care about quality and want to give only the best to our clients. Outsourcing is not the great evil that everyone thinks that it is. They too have talented people that are capable of great work, and they do help us provide 24/7 coverage on some of our busiest accounts.
As far as flexibility, I would like to add at this time, that I am also a college student pursuing my four year degree. Transcend is not a monster. This company has allowed me to work from home where I am finally available to my family. They have offered me the tools and the chance to succeed. This company wants everyone to be successful and HAPPY at a job that we all love. I think that many MDI employees are jumping the gun and making snap judgments about a company that they don’t really know anything about. Give Transcend a chance…..look to the future with a positive attitude. I believe that you will be very pleasantly surprised by what you find.

I'm so glad you were able to dump SPI and hope you are happier with your new job(can't be worse)! I need to leave SPI too, but I don't want to take the first thing that comes along just to get out of here and get suckered again by another crap co.!
I came from a horrible company (Transcend). I went totally broke while working there. We were completely out of work for days on end. What little work we did get was being switched to VR (at a much lower cpl rate) which was just horrific since it was new. We were treatd as lab rats and were supposed to work just a few bugs out while our pay and line counts plummeted! The only time they communicated with us was to tell us we were doing something wrong, and when we had concerns about the VR, our pay, lack of work, etc., we were told to basically keep it to ourselves and not talk with other employees about it. They hated people that had a mind of their own and people who stood up for themselves at all.
I was desperate to get out of there and searched this board. I read great things about Cymed on this board, asked questions here, and it sounded good. I talked with the recruiter and asked some more questions. Again, sounded pretty good, but I never really looked into or compared other companies which was a HUGE mistake! As soon as Cymed offered me a job, I went for it without applying anywhere else.
Cymed wasn't great to begin with. Right away, probably within the first month, they started breaking promises, switched my account, and had poor communication, but it was still better than Transcend. Then came the SPI buyout, and good things about Cymed are disappearing.
Basically, I don't want to just research/test/interview with 1 co. like I did when I made this move. Even though I hate it here, I want to make sure I take more time, do more research, etc., so I don't end up going through all the hassles of switching companies only to get burned again by another crap co.
Sorry for the extremely long rant. I started off just wanting to wish you luck and saying good for you, but I'm so frustrated about my current situation that I guess I had to get it off my chest. Again, best of luck to you and thanks for listening to the rambling of a lunatic, LOL. =)
UPDATE: CARD AND GIFT CARD ARRIVED TODAY FROM TRANSCEND. USPS STINKS...
It tooks what looks like over 2 weeks to get there. It could have been shipped to a third world country is that much time. Shame on USPS. I guess you get what you pay for..even at 41 cents.Yikes. Sorry to my employer.

NOBODY, except the MT's who are making less and less money and losing whatever comfortable lifestyle they had previously had the pleasure to live. Unless you have more than 1 member in the household to bring in the money, or you have received an inheritance from family member, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO MAKE A LIVING AT Transtech anymore. They absolutely DON'T CARE either. TransTech mgmt will not talk about it; only promises of new accounts coming on . . . ha ! Possibly an overflow account to replace the LOST account.
I so wish mgmt's paychecks would be affected by this NO WORK situation that has been going on for more than a year now and they would get out of that Houston high-dollar office and FIND US MT's some WORK !

And the reports look worse and worse
Any VR program and system into which it is imported is fraught with problems. At my local hospital, they have editors editing the editors. The reports are still full of mistakes and bad formatting. At my local radiology group, they have 5 different programs ranging from a combination of EMR point and click to front end SR. The MTs spend their whole day patching together the various parts of the patient record to make one cohesive record. The IT department has ballooned from 2 to 7. They only got rid of 3 MTs but exchanged them for 5 ITs. A local doctor uses point and click EMR and spends the whole patient visit with his snoot glued to the computer. The patient sits there crying and he isn't paying attention. It takes him 20 minutes to complete the record and then charges the patient for the extra time inside the room because of his bad choices or the practice manager in record keeping. I know all this first hand. I wonder when they will realize the boondoggle they have bought into.

I'm really sorry it has happened to you, but like one poster said below, I rather think the ACLU would be interested in this.
I had an employer who threatened to sue me once when I left the company if I influenced any MTs to go with me (as though I had that much influence). I never heard another peep out of him, and hopefully you won't out of this either. I'd cross my fingers for you, but that makes it kinda hard to type. ;o)
I'd take the other job offer. MQ stinks!

If you are considering working for this company, they pay 7 cpl for employee status, they do NOT pay for spaces and the lady that does the training is so rude it ain't funny....either she is overworked or she is just a wicked cow!
PLUS, they do outsource and some of the offices lie to you and say they pay for spaces, they don't.
I wouldn't say DSG stinks.....
I previously worked at DSG, but didn't stay because of the sound quality. I now work at GIMT, and their sound quality doesn't even compare! It's so much better than DSG. Other than the sound quality, DSG was okay.

I don't think you are getting it! You do realize that before you get a job to edit that it first goes past an Editor in India, don't you?
Crazy stuff, an offshore MT types it, it is then edited by an offshore editor (who is not much better than the MT)and then it comes to us to be edited again with a 100% listen.
I think we have all accepted the fact that offshoring is a reality and we all knew when we accepted the position with MW that we would be editing offshore work, but I did not sign up to work for slave wages ($8) an hour.
I have no clue what your situation is, but I am way too good to work for that. I also have more pride in myself then to be insulted by the people of MW.
I understand, but that stinks for us who need help...

United Stinks!
I tried to work for United for a few days. I specified MULTIPLE times I am NOT a morning person. They disrespected me and called ALL DAY, started phoning before 7 a.m. to ensure I don't sleep at all since I went to bed after 6 a.m.!!!! They sent an email telling me to phone them when I feel like speaking to them. Great...I won't break any nails dialing the phone - TWO MORE STAFF PEOPLE CALLED ME TO HARASS FURTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why were they calling? To ask why I was not typing right then!!! Well duh!!! Second shift begins at 3 p.m. my time and all this drama was going on at 1 p.m. my time!!!!!!!!!! HELLO!!!!!!!!! GET AN EDUCATION!!!!!!!! LEARN THE TIME ZONES JERKS!!!!!!!!! So, for the money and the harassment and the sweat shop atmosphere, I recommend any other company. This one is not worth the hassle, the time, or the energy since the staff is disrespectful, hateful, inflexible, inconsiderate, unprofessional and unacceptable. Is the money even worth it? No, for my 15 years' experience, they offered 0.08 a line. Oh..another thing...I told them I would work this weekend - they don't have an auto job feed so it took over 3-4 hours for someone to 'send me work since their system is antiquated. Yes, you have to rely on someone to send you work in order to have anything to type and then they send you 2 jobs, you type, you request more work, and you get more work after having downtime of 2 hours. So...in 8 hours, you are lucky to have typed 5-8 jobs. So, to get up to 15 jobs, count on 12-16 hours a day!!!!

well first of all, I work part-time 4 hours a day, and make up to $100 a day, so that is $25 an hour, so don't email me and tell me I don't make squat. you don't know anything about my situation, and at least I don't make 4 cents a line for VR, so I consider myself fortunate. Why did you ask such a weird question, then I answer, then you rip. Just another one of the bitter, unprofessional people on this board.
The company stinks and if you look back through
the archives you'll be hard pressed to find a good post about them, and then they have to be from someone in management. Even people that didn't listen to our experience and went to work for them are living and regretting they didn't listen. Absolute worst company there is.

They overhire. Their program stinks.
The training is worse. They outsource work so there is nothing left. The transcription program is horrible and you do 3 times as much work to do a document as you would anyplace else. You cannot use automatic numbering, you cannot do this, you cannot do that, and new rules every day. You spend all day clicking and changing everything.

They play good game of being KGB, screw up more than anyone else in the company, but never get in trouble, just keep compounding their mistakes. The wondeful programs to keep track of us never work right, but they are so nasty to us that no one wants to work for them. Why is management so blind?

I think emails get lost in the abyss. Sadly, your sending email to like eight people and still no answer. No thanks. I'm glad I am out of there. The only thing I did like was payment on time and DD. That's it. Very stressful job

Been here 7 years, back before it was bought out. There is endless work and that's NO joke. Small management staff, pay on time. Only drawback for some is using the C-phone. No hassles, nobody looking over your shoulder. You just work and get paid.
TRS is awesome!
I have worked for TRS for just over 2 years and couldn't be happier. TRS truly cares about its employees and it shows. I can't imagine working anywhere else.
