Can you tell me how long you have to wait before you qualify for insurance?
Thanks, and can I ask how many lines you do weekly (average) on their accounts? I noticed it has varied for me among diffent companies.
Transtech....how long of a wait for insurance?
How long did you wait for training at Transcend?
Just wondering what the typical time frame is from install to training?
Re: Wait period for insurance
I just wanted to clarify this and ensure that everyone has the correct information. The wait period for our insurance is 120 days. We review your status at 90 days to ensure that you are producing at full-time capacity and then if you are, you are sent the benefits info to sign up for whatever you're interested in. The benefits will start 30 days after that so it equates to 120 days.

The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
I don't think I can wait that long!
I haven't talked to anyone from Amphion, but their web site info looks great, especially the make your own schedule and holidays being completely up to the MT.
How long to wait?
Recently I tested and passed with a national company that has had quite a few advertisements on this site recently. I immediately received an e-mail saying I had passed the test and when would be a good time for a telephone interview, which I answered...that was last Tuesday and I haven't heard anything. I'm sure their HR department is very busy, but how long should I wait to e-mail them again, or try to call? I really need this job and it's a good fit for my experience (PT). Don't want to be a pest, but don't want to fall through the cracks, either. Thanks!
Gone too. Finally, after long wait.
Too much BS. Either tons of emails, work, work, work for your incentive, not that you EVER see it in your paycheck. Send emails and get your ticket, automatic response, and never an answer from anyone who should answer. Pays promised one day and delivered 4 days later. Done with it and glad to be leaving. Poor management, poor communication, if any, and poor everything. RUN.
Who can afford to wait that long?
No way would I take such a job - what happens if they NEVER get paid? You work for free, that's what.
It's not common at all - you'd be better of getting your own accounts!
How long to wait to start new job?
I was offered a new job Monday and sent in the completed paperwork as required right away via fax. I got a welcome letter the same day. I have heard nothing since and did email once thanking them for the position and indicated I was ready to start immediately. Still, I have heard absolutely nothing since. How long should I wait to actually get started? I was told that they were growing and I could have as much work as I wanted. Any advice?
Pay is strange with a LONG wait...nm

You have to wait 90 days to quality for insurance and the other benefits. sm
There are 3 different plans for coverage -- basic, choice, and ultimate, I think -- and you choose which one is right for you. I do not have the paperwork handy, but it seems like good coverage at a reasonable price (single coverage, don't really remember about family), and you can also opt for dental and vision insurance. You are right, though, the premium is deducted every 2 weeks.
I couldn't wait to sign up for the insurance this year...
It was going to be cheaper than what we are paying now. Then I got the payment sheet and I was really disappointed. The rates are almost double as last year's rates.
The insurance I have now is cheaper even though their deductible is quite high and they don't pay for ER coverage. After finally talking my husband into going under TT's insurance (that alone took almost a year to convince him), now I have to tell him we're staying where we're at now....unless TT does find a better plan.
I will be waiting [im]patiently to see what they come up with.
I know Heartland makes you wait that long.
nm
I wouldn't wait that long. If I cannot be on a regular
What are they paying, once a month? So, for the whole month of May, you draw pay on June 13th?
Not for me.
Call now. A week is certainly long enough to wait. nm
s
WTH do they wait so long? is it a form of torture?
lazy?!?!?!
Wait...let me guess. Shapin right? Can go for long without mentioning them!
If they are making the $ it is either because of working round the clock or whizzing through with poor quality. I am thinking whizzing through because in past postings they are very busy with posting negative things here. I make 4 cpl and listen to everything as required. I do well, but to do it right and be thorough you would not make big $ at 1.5.
Anyone tested and heard back from DTS America. How long was your wait? nm
/
may be good now, wait until they Global your account, too. I left there long ago, happy I did. nm
.
New insurance, huh? How long have they
been dangling the new insurance carrot for? Two or three years now?
Long ago, an employer said we'd get insurance (sm)
and I started paying into it. But I never got any info, & was too young & dumb to follow up on it. About 7 or 8 months later I asked about it, and employer told me you have no insurance. When I said then I wanted the money back I'd been paying into it every month, she threatened to fire me over it. All I wanted was what was rightfully mine - either the money or the insurance. I later quit, but filed a claim with the state's LABOR BOARD, and not only won the suit & got my money back, but put her out of business as well.
How long does it take for Diskriter insurance to take
I'm talking about health insurance for Diskriter employees, not their hospital accounts.
As long as you don't need health insurance through them
The insurance is quite pricey.
Thanks..do you know what the deductibles are and how long before your eligible for insurance? Thanks
Does anyone know how long it takes before you qualify for insurance at Keystrokes? nm

Ha! There was a spoof on SNL a long time ago, something like Dave's insurance. sm
I've been burned by insurance companies before, so I understand.
Transcend insurance
Changing to Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Hope you have enough work from this company to be eligible for insurance. I can't get any work from them anymore.
Transcend insurance
You have to be employed 120 days and make at least $900 per pay to qualify.
Just found out I have to buy error/omission insurance to remain IC. So long MDI.

Transcend insurance cost ?
Can anyone working for Transcend tell me the employee's cost for insurance? For example, how much per paycheck is taken out if you want to cover just yourself (no husband or dependents) for medical, dental and, vision (I have been told they offer all 3). Thanks for your answers.
Transcend makes you buy the insurance to be IC?
That seems like quite a bit, do you have any idea how much those insurances together would cost? First if you are an independent worker you would not have use for worker's comp and the E&O insurance would protect the company, not the worker. The company should have their own insurance for that. Did the company also drop your line rate when you went to employee status? I have had a company tell me that before, independent 1 or 2 cents higher than employee.
Does Transcend offer health insurance?

VR, Transcend, MT profession, etc. Long msg
Difficult as it will be, it's time we, as a profession, unite and put our collective foot down on this crap. We are quickly running out of time to be able to do anything about this stuff, and this may, in fact, be our last shot at making a difference. Therefore, my suggestion for those being replaced by a technology that still can't even do the work without our help is to immediately look for work with other companies that are not yet going to strictly editing positions through VR, and do it quickly and as a mass exit. Any company experiencing a mass exit like that I don't think can survive it. There are a lot of companies looking for good, experienced transcriptionists, so the time is right for making an immediate move. Such a move will send the message that giving our work away is synonymous with losing accounts. By watching the aftershock of such a response from the MTs, other companies will hopefully think twice about following the same path.
The point is, if we don't strike a plan and do something, and quick, we are all going to be looking for another line of work anyway. My position is, if the doctors want to use VR, then get it right. If I am going to have to hang back in the wings and fix it for them for less pay and longer hours, then my answer to that is, no thanks; do it yourself. The point is, of course, at least for right now, they can't do it themselves and don't have the time to do it even if they could. This is the best opportunity any of us will have to make a stand (and a statement) while keeping the pain we individually experience as a result at a minimum. Test for another company and move on as quickly as you can. If a company engaging in this cut-throat activity gives no notice (as the posts suggest happened in the case with Transcend concerning wage and work cuts), then don't feel obligated to give any notice that you are leaving. If you are working for a company that is considering such a move in the future and has stated as much, then make plans to move on right now, and when you have secured another position, let them know you are leaving and why.
You can't wait on this. Don't give them time to figure anything out. Just leave them high and dry the way they eventually intend to do you (us). They're doing what they are doing because they want to be richer. You'll be doing what you do because you need to survive and put food on the table. BIG DIFFERENCE!!
The results will be that the other companies that are looking for good help will get all that they need, which will make their accounts happier because TAT is being met like never before. In turn, the companies that experience such a mass exit will have their accounts looking around for a new home because of the backlog that develops, and that in turn will cost them money rather than such a move having made them money as originally thought. And, where do you suppose those fleeing accounts will have to go? To companies that are well staffed because they don't take their MTs for granted. This will give such companies a big boost economically, which will be yet further incentive to maintain a happy work force and not be willing to cut the throats of their work force when it comes to work availability.
This will not prevent VR from continuing to progress and develop, but it will stop the tide that is beginning to take shape and perhaps even shift it once the doctors and the companies realize that, if they are going to use it, they are on their own because we will not help them put us out of work. The technology is still not to the point where it can stand on its own yet, so those that would see MTs out of work will have to rethink their position for the time being, and that in turn will give our profession more time to find a way to organize and make a permanent stand for the benefit of our own self-preservation as an industry. They're slowly pulling the rug out from under us, and we are just standing here letting them do it because we don't see how there is anything we can do about it. But there is something we can do. We just have to buck up and do it.
Don't tell me this is idealistic either. That's all I have heard from fellow MTs when it comes to making any kind of a stand. It's only idealistic because you aren't willing to do what it takes to change it. If we stand together and refuse to go along with this, these companies will have to rethink their position. If we wait until they are in a position to survive without us, then they will do just that. Either way, we're all going to be out of a profession anyway, so why not make a stand right now while there's a chance it could make a difference, especially when there is still work to be had in this field with other companies that have not yet sold us out.
Long time Transcend MT
I have been on BT since day 1...I was one of the first MTs on it. It is no longer my main job as I have experience in another platform and they needed help. There is not a lot of clicking on BT. You type plain and it puts it in the format the hospital wants on the back end. If there are normals for each doctor they are put in the system and you can use them and get paid for them. You can use an Expander program, I use Shorthand. If your acct is just going to BT it will be quite awhile before you will be doing a lot of editing...it will be straight typing for quite awhile. Its just like typing in word. No need to be nervous about it.
How is Transcend/MDI's medical insurance plan for employees?
Thanks
Anyone know whether Transcend is keeping the same insurance this year or changing?
thanks
Is there anyone else struggling to get the lines needed at Transcend for medical insurance? sm
Or is it just me?? TIA
I don't think CB has been at Transcend long enough for a promotion, still in the honeymoon period
But with her skills she might be promoted in no time!
401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
No problem :) No matter how long, it is too long for me - I am broke the day after payday. Kids wi
do that to you!
I know that they have worked very hard to make sure that checks are never late and I can say that in the past two years, I have had one problem (2 days late) and in the past 18 months, they have all been on payday and perfect.
I know that there are a lot of hard feelings in MT in general. I also know firsthand (and I am not mgmt) how hard KS has worked to get things going good.
I would not want to walk in an MTSO's shoes for any amount of money, but that's just me. I like to finish my work for the day, forget about work when not working and get paid on payday. I never want the other things that go with mgmt or owning a company of any kind :)
They definitely rip you off with your line count. Figured this out long ago and quit long ago

Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars. I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
What really sucks is that I looked for a LONG, long time -sm
before joining DRC - wanted a highly reputable, not-too-big co. that was LOCAL, and that treated its MTs humanely. I'm very happy with DRC & had planned to stay with them permanently.
Long, long history of not paying...and
similar posts have been made here in the past few months. Everyone thinks they will be different, and then they end up coming back here to warn others that they don't pay.
Transcend bought MDI, so if Transcend sends work offshore, so does MDI. nm
nm
We heard Transcend is buying Keystrokes next. I'm not working for Transcend. No Way !
nm
If MDI-FL is owned by Transcend and Transcend admittingly offshores, sm
then doesn't that make MDI a company that offshores? That's like saying that one branch of a company offshores but another does not, so they are excluded from the offshore label. If MDI-FL is part of Transcend and Transcend offshores, that means that they do.
