To Bummed MT

In Reply to: Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT - Bummed MT

I was feeling pretty bummed, too, about a psychiatry test I bombed, and I have over 17 years' experience; so it happens to all of us at some time. I do have to say, though, that I can't see how anyone could pass the test I took -- no use of foot pedals, no rewind except to move your hand from the keyboard to the mouse, stop the playback (which took about 30 seconds for it to respond) and manually move the location indicator back! I just chalk it up to experience, and that there must be a reason. Keep your head up, something will notice your experience and hire you!

Bummed myself about this (sm)
I have had little to no work on multiple accounts at MDI.  Something is going on.  We were told to hang in there, that a big account was coming, lack of work will be a thing of the past, when the work runs out, more will be in its place.  Well folks, guess what, many of us are suffering due to lack of work on multiple accounts.  I'm disappointed with MDI.  I am in a financial bind now because I stayed with a company who lied to us.  I should have moved on months ago when I had the chance with another company.  I feel for all MDI people in this situation.  Reading the post about outsourcing our work explains why we have no work now.

I am also bummed out, mostly because MDI let us hang for several months with almost no work with no explanation as to where the work was. Come on. For me, it now becomes of a matter of working for a company that offshores, and I simply will not do it because I think it is wrong. There is not much that I can do, as an MT, to take a stand in support of the American worker, but not working for companies who offshore is one of them. It is a matter of personal principle.

There is only one thing I hate more than driving the LA freeways in traffic and that is rah-rah conference calls. I had such a headache after ours I could hardly see straight.

Cheer-cheer-cheer
For MDI High
You bring the whiskey
I'll bring the rye
Let those freshies in on the din
But don't let the sober sophomores in!

It sounds kind of like something we used to sing on the way to basketball games in high school.

Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, it WAS just a booty call. I have always thought I was kind of sophisticated in the ways of the world (and business). Looks like I have egg on my face. BTW, like ExMDIer, I quit immediately, too.

Waaay back in the sixties I took a class on George Orwell in college. Yeppers, that conference call would have done Mr. Orwell proud. Why can't people just say what they mean and mean what they say? The issue of offshoring notwithstanding, I would not have stayed based on the fluffy communication style alone. That sent big warnings off in my head and made my BS detector go off!
Bummed!!! Apparently the MDI-FL side doesnt get incentives. It seems like the benefits/incentives
would apply to everyone. Oh well, wouldnt be the first time.
