OSi pays on time every time exactly what was quoted on job offer.
Someone is getting really confused here. OSi does pay on time. Pay has always been in accordance to my time sheet that I fill out. If OSi pays only if their accounts pay them, then I must be on one good account that always pays. This is not in any fine print of any papers I have received.
Nitpicking?
You must remember QA staff also works by a set of rules and we get dinged or in trouble if we miss something.  Most accounts now go strictly by the BOS and heaven forbid we miss a semicolon.  Remember we are NOT in charge, our job is to do what they tell us to do and find anything that is now incorrect and let you know so you don't repeat the error on a report sent directly to the client.  If you haven't been on the phone with an irate client, it's not pleasant.  It all rolls downhill, we are only trying to help.  Sure you get bad apples in any job who let it go to their head, but by far we all work very hard and try to be very fair and correct.
Nothing but nitpicking - very rarely anything useful
nm
Does SPI really offer benefits? The last time I checked they did not.
Thanks for any information.
Are there any companies that offer part-time
employee status?  I am looking to work certain days of the week, but I'd like part-time employee status?  Is there anyone that is currently in that type of situation that could steer me in the right direction?  I have a lot experience and am very reliable.  Thanks in advance for any help in this regard.  I appreciate my fellow MTs and their opinions count in my book.
they offer 401K for part time
nm
Talk about nitpicking audits?!?!?!
I have 14 years' experience as an MT, plus I'm an EMT and wrote two books on first aid, so I know how to construct a sentence and spell.

I never ONCE got a 100% audit at OSi, whereas at another highly-respected MT company I got nothing but 100% audits. The QA folks are definitely too big for their britches! It was so ridiculous that I could just not continue to accept these ridiculous audits.
Yeah, and do any companies offer PTO for part time?
TIA
QA per-line pay? Guess that accounts for all the nitpicking...sm

If they have to make their lines, they'll nitpick you to death with their corrections du jour.  And back and forth amongst them, if there's nothing there they'll find something there.

Can anyone recommend companies that offer IC status, part time?

Any good ones out there for IC's?  Part time?

Does Spheris offer IC status?

Any help appreciated!

Any companies offer health insurance for part time?

The only time I work OT, they offer 1-1/2 times my line rate which is OT pay IMO. sm
I rarely, rarely work OT though as I have kids in sports and a husband who works strange hours.
Maybe, or maybe they realize this is an informal board. QUIT THE NITPICKING! nm

Are there any companies who offer health benefits to part time employees?
Need insurance.
mediocre tying skill, that means 60-70 wpm is more
than sufficient to be a good MT. Knowledge is much more important than superfast typing. The high line count one achieves through Expanders and templates.
When will employers 'get' this?
not to me, same skill req. look at the paycut.& increased lines
Need to get out your calculator. Ask what is their production minimum and time to accomplish before being let go.

2000 lines a day, 250 lines an hour --listening/editing/fixing

at 4.5/ln
$90 a day
divide 8 hours is= $11.25hr.

10,000 lines a week=$450.
Experience does not equal skill. As an ex-recruiter for a large sm
national, I found that the length of time that someone has been a Transcriptionist does not always indicate their ability to transcribe well. I also found that some, not all, transcriptionists with a lot of experience had egos that were inflated to the point that they thought they were perfect. They would fail our test and call screaming at me, when the truth was that they just weren't that good.

Perhaps you should look into brushing up on your skills prior to taking tests or find out exactly what a company is looking for. Maybe your experience is not in the area that they need.

I don't want to start a war here but it is time for transcriptionists to realize that they are not always going to get every job they apply for. It is time for companies to crack down on quality. Quality is the only thing that we have over offshore.
1 month's training sounds like no real skill
involved to me. Sure, at that wage, I might consider it still, but I do take pride in the fact you cannot bring someone off the street and train them to do what I do in one month's time. A high wage at low skill doesn't sound realistic. I'd sure be skeptical of same.
Which companies offer PTO for part time employee status, along with contributing 401K, shift....sm
differentials, and incentive based pay plan?  I think I covered it all.  Mostly looking for PTO as a part time employee.  Thanks for your replies.
Let's see...lousy sound quality, dictators with no skill, unavailable QA, running out of work.nm
s
Not necessarily true. That is not a true test of skill.
Do you know how many people get others to take tests for them? It happens and it happens more often than you might think. The only skill that shows anyway is that you can do it.

We are actually more than a transcriptionist. We are specialists in our field and we are supposed to know some things regarding anatomy and physiology as a working base. That's how we can judge if a physician dictates something in accurately and many do because they can't pronounce or just are not thinking. That's why our skills of basic knowledge come into play and that means basic knowledge of body parts. If our job was just to sit there and type without thinking about what we are transcribing, then all patients are in trouble and this is just based on what I see as a QA person.

It's more than just knowing how to transcribe and some of the companies have discovered how to know what your basic knowledge is based on what you have picked up with your experience by utilizing your references etc. Hopefully that utilization of your references has taught you something that does stick in your head.

Beliefs like yours are just so far off base. You have to know what you are doing. It's not just about being able to listen and type. Base knowledge is a very important thing and the services have to find a way to know that knowledge base that is there in your head.

I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time?  I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to.  If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info.  Thanks!
MDI-Maryland is an excellent company, pay on time all the time, great line rate.
I left also because I went out and got my own client(s).
They are very nice people.

The only negative I can think of were the e-mails from the owner say work, work, work, we are out of TAT.

Other than that, which is very minor, it was a good experience.
Not what I was told; 3500/wk part-time & 6000 wk/full-time. nm
nm
Precyse Solutions is hiring part-time and full-time right now.
Saw this on their website.
i work 3 part-time jobs now. it can be confusing if you are learning both at the same time, but sm
other than that not a problem for me. best to get one down before starting to other or you might become overwhelmed.
MDI-MD: What are daily line requirements for full-time/part-time? Thanks! nm
nm
I have one full-time job and 2 part-time jobs. It can be tricky at times, sm
but at least I now have plenty of work always. I have some big financial goals, and right now that seems to be the only way to accomplish it.  I can't see any reason why it would not be legal -- why would you say that?  I am cheating no one, except myself (out of sleep and a social life).  Fortunately, I am single with no children or anything.  I cannot imagine doing this if I had a family.  At least my dogige understands.
I've been there quite a while, pay on time, growth spurt right now, so good time to get on board,
new accounts and lots of work, and before someone says it, I'm not management, just an employee.
per his request I told him Time To Call, he called Not That Time, emailed me
nm
Full time/part time based on # hours or
# lines per pay period, nothing to do with quality. The lower the quality the higher the pay it seems.
Solution: Find another job, part time or full time.
Post your resume, hope for the best.
Depends on how flexible you need to be and if full-time or part-time
They are a little more flexible if you are part-time.  Not so much full-time, where you can be a little flexible within the day (not a strict 8-5), but if you are scheduled for Monday, you have to work Monday unless you request off, and if you are scheduled for a Holiday, you have to work the holiday, unless you request off.  They encourage you to clock out every time you are not typing to keep your lph rate up, which means an 8 hour day can turn into 12 hours at the computer.  If they run out of work (which they do quite often), you have to make the time up.  They are also leaning more towards Voice Recognition, so MTs are getting trained on that, but not sure what percent will go that way.  It does affect how much work you may get though in the other accounts.
They are advertising for full time HIM now, do they still hire part time? nm

It will get better, I hope. Too much time on my hands means too much time on ebay! lol nm

DVHP gives vacation time to part-time people. nm

Any companies out there where you do not have to fill in a time sheet or on a time clock?
I would like to do my lines and be done, and still get my benefits.  Any companies out there that go by line production rather than hours to qualify for bennies?
OSi with part time health insurance and paid time off
OSi does offer health insurance and paid time off for part time.  Yes, there have been changes.  Yes, there will probably be more changes.  I don't see anywhere that hasn't had changes.  If they don't change they will be out of business the way the economy is these days, just like some other companies.  If they don't make money, then I don't make money.  So, what is so different with OSi compared to other companies?  I see complaints constantly about all companies.  I don't think it is the fault of the company that they outsource or use voice recognition.  It just is life on life's terms these days.  There is still enough work for us, at least for me.
My thoughts exactly, why waste my time when you know you are only hiring full time? nm
nm
From time to time those paper checks aren't good!
nm
Well at least you got an offer. How many
years of experience do you have?
offer
21 years, and most of that in radiology in-house. With a national for 5 years. How the time flies!
They offer more than just PTO (sm)

First of all, I have worked on VA as a primary before, and one should easily be able to get 1200 lines in an 8-hour period.  I've gotten 1500-1700 a day working VA if I work steadily for 8 hours.  We do get paid time off and that amount has just been increased (10 days per year the first year).  We get holiday pay (6 days) as well as celebratory day (4 days) pay, an extra amount per line for every line that we do on those days.  There are also incentives offered all the time.  I just started a 401K and OSi matches 100% of my contribution (up to 4% a pay period, fully vested), which is very generous. We also get a raise every year on our anniversary date. Sure...maybe that amount could be a little more...but some places you can go for years and get nada.

The months of October and November, we're getting a bonus just for meeting our minimal lines for the month, and if we exceed those, the bonus is even higher.

It seems there are people out there, specifically on the QA of things, who aren't happy with how things went for them.  I don't know anything about that, but I do know that I am very happy with OSi and you get more than a little paid time off for you 12,000 lines a pay period.

I am considering a job offer from FN (sm)
I was wondering if they take social security taxes out? Also, approximately what percentage of your income do you put aside for taxes? I want to make sure I do everything right!

Why??? I'm considering an offer from them. nm
nm
What was the offer?
If that is confidential information, could you please e-mail me?

Thanks!

job offer
I said I would pay high rate of pay. I don't think they believed me. I don't need to hire people very often but this account has switched to electronic records and now one particular doctor who is an outside contractor who is paid to dictate for other doctors has swamped me with work. We always billed gross lines until last month. This was a real hit for all of us. I had no idea the profession had gone so downhill. I don't hire often and don't participate in the MT local meetings. I never had an interest since I have been so secure with this account since 1978. I thought I would get lots of replies - but did not. Thanks anyway. I will post the ad again. I have a backlog of almost 500 reports right now.
How much cpl did they offer you? nm
nm
I have a job offer but .......
I have been offered a job, but I am a little scared at taking at 7 cpl being IC. How long have you been with Allegiant?
Got an offer the next day
I only emailed them my resume and did not even have to test. I got a call from them the very next day with an offer.
Just got a job offer from them
They do pharmaceutical presentation dictations and such. Only need folks once in a while on a p.r.n. basis, part-time. That's all I know.
