We are trying to live, right? and if it is Toth Transcription, from what I hear, it'd be next to impossible to get paid PERIOD..

It's really easy to tell outright lies or half-truths and get away with it, until someone says "prove it" and posters can't. If everyone would post as accurately and objectively as possible there'd be a lot less turmoil on this board. Maybe that's why people do sling mud without facts, though, this board wouldn't be half as interesting if people were objective, would it?


However, we're in America, where too many people feel it's really, truly, all about themselves with little care about anyone around them or how their behavior affects others. All the rights and none of the responsibiltities. Our great-grandparents would be ashamed.

Does anyone have any info about a company called America's Pride? (sm)
I can't find anything on the web and know only that they type VA records.  Has anyone ever worked for them?  How are they to work for?  Do they hire IC/FT/PT/statutory?  How are the line counts, platform, etc?  Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

TT is a great company, but you can't live on fresh air and sunshine. sm

I have no work on either account this morning.  Especially with the holidays coming on, if your income is the sole support of the family, I would highly recommend that you get another job (or 2) to make sure you will have enough to keep you going, no matter where you choose to work.  I am starting 2 new part-time jobs today.  I don't really want to work myself to death, but then again, I do not want to be out on the street because I cannot pay my bills.

Most of us who have complained or exhibited negativity toward this company have had experience in editing and producing quality work when MT'ing. Those of us who do have the experience in the work world, who do take pride in quality work, and who have enough sense to know what we are worth would never dream of taking a job paying 1.5 cpl in editing.  It's a joke to be offered a cpl rate in editing to begin with, but this rate is more than a joke, it's an insult.


I did apply at one time to Shapin.  They offered me 1.5 cpl in editing.  It was an insult, and the woman who replied to my refusal was very unprofessional.  She insisted that she made $4000/month.  Well, if she was doing it at that rate, I imagine that she was churning out trash.  The mathematical proof of a $4000/month paycheck at 1.5 cpl is just horrible. 


So don't trash the ones who come onto boards and tell the truth about this company.  You sound like you are either management with this company or else too new and inexperienced to know better.  I would bet you're management though.  They have embarrassed themselves multiple times in the past with antics like this. 


These rates are shameful, and the attitudes of the Shapin employees/management are even worse.  I pity them.  The impression they are making on the professional world is definitely not impressive or enviable.

I am the daughter you are referring to. KS losing or getting rid of an account had nothing to do with me or my mother - to say the least. What a very vague and below-the-belt post. Be careful to make sure your facts are accurate, lest the truth be revealed. I left KS less than a year ago - quietly. It very unprofessional to post lies on a public board about obvious employees who have left. Anyone working at KS knows who you are referring to and many know the truth about why we left. I would love to know who the poster is. I think I know :)

That last rant was particularly insane.  Please forgive me.  I had no idea one of my multiple personalities had posted that.  I really thought I was gaining control of things here, thanks to a new, experimental study medication I have been on.  It does have a few side effects such as projectile diarrhea, whooping cough/country music syndrome and foul-smelling, cottonoid nasal discharge.  However, if this medication works, it will all be worth it!  And I shall never, ever, and I do promise this for ALL OF MY PERSONALITIES, EVER urinate on your activities of daily living again.

If... just if.... it is, then you're not sharing the full story.

The full story is that the hospital had to supply a security fob to access their system. Each MT had to pass a security check from the hospital and then were issued this fob. There were a limited number of MTs given these.

One of the MTs received a fob and was set up for the account and then worked one day and then didn't work any more. Didn't return phone calls, didn't return e-mails, and then finally DID return a phone call when the company became concerned for the MTs safety and began checking hospitals and newspapers. She also did not return the security fob to the hospital, and the hospital began to threaten legal action against the company.

The MT then begged for her job back but was placed on a separate account and platform but was given a second chance, and did it again. Worked one day and then no word.

This same MT also refused to fill out the paperwork when the company changed payroll companies in order to receive either a check or direct deposit but demanded to be paid, and yet had not returned the first hospital's secuirty fob. In fact, refused to return it for months.

I only know this because I was in the awkward position of having been friends with this person and being the one who referred them (I use the term friend loosely, now; I learned a hard lesson) and was supposed to step in and take the account this person was on because the hospital was screaming bloody murder. Their work wasn't getting done, and yet no other MT could do it because the hospital's security system was compromised because of the refusal to return the security fob. As a matter of fact, that stunt nearly cost all the MTs to lose their jobs because the hospital was going to pull the account they were so angry about the breach in security. The only way to get the fob back was to not give the final paycheck until it had been returned, which is clearly stated in any MTs contract.

Now, maybe you're not that MT, and maybe you are. If you are, there is much, MUCH more to this story than the way it has been presented.

about not receiving anything from them. I talked to EDITED on Friday when I got my card and she said she felt bad that the cards weren't out on time and that she had been busy with working and both of her children had been very sick. I think it is very thoughful of them to send something. Most of the companies out there don't think of us at all and EDITED  makes sure we get something for holidays and throughout the year. Plus she signs all the cards herself and writes the checks herself.
OH I can't believe I typed "I was do." I'm so ashamed!!!

It is just now that I am beginning to read between the lines with what is said by this government agency and another. Why would you be checking through the years for how our country was being sold off until you found yourself at the end of the sword. It is scary to think the government sold us out to corporations knowing it was all about money. Why does the the US government think they need to give tax breaks to corporation to send jobs overseas? They are already making beaucoup bucks saving on transcription services and many, many more services with jobs from the US. You can only spend so much and then it is obscene. I have written congressmen a lot in the last couple of years with no response back, sent emails and even letters to journalists with no response back. It just must not be something that they feel is important enough to expose.
Not ashamed to be part of this industry, but
definitely embarrassed to think of medical industry people checking out this forum and finding what it has sunk to.

That so many people are in trouble these days is heart-rending. The problem is when it comes out as anger expressed in irrational, libelous, and abusive attacks on others, including employers.

And especially in these remarkable days of the Information Age, there is simply no excuse for the astonishing degree of ignorance and lack of respect for truth displayed by many of us, who all come here via the World Wide Web.

Nothing is easier than self deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes to be true.

I worried about my employer for part of the winter as my accounts grew sparse. I had plan to switch to being an employee with benefits but dared not make the switch in this economy (this was last year this time, got it?)
I figured keeping my seniority was worth whatever security it afforded.

My accounts have rebounded some and I can pay my bills.

By economizing seriously, I have paid off my credit card and put some money aside, just in case. I'm breathing easier, thanks.

So, all in all, I'm not complaining. This last winter was brutal, but I had a job and I paid my bills. When employment rebounds and/or national health goes into effect, people will go to the doctor again and we will be busy.

My part of the world is like a ghost town -- everyone who could left to find work in the city -- many apparently leaving their homes to the banks. Several houses in my vicinity have been on the market more than 4 years.

Forgive me my loyalty ... it pays the bills.

What does yelling at the rest of us do for you?
It depends on where you live. If you live in their
service area it would be cheaper than outside their service area.   I only have rates for out of service area and medical is  139.13 for family or 168.42 depending on what plan you choose.  Dental is 20.85 for family, vision is 5.13.  These are per pay period. 

Individual coverage would be 44.79/54.21 medical, 7.99 dental, and 1.71 vision.  

I opted out of insurance as we have through my husband's job.  I believe  the cheaper insurance is a 70/30 plan and the more expensive an 80/20, not sure about co-pays.  Deductibles are $2000 for family, not sure about individual.

I worked for them years ago. I only stayed 30 days because they had no work. They insisted on training in-house with them for a week, and then when I got home I ran out of work every day. They only had one hospital account - the rest were doctors' offices. This was about 6-7 yrs ago. Ask lots of questions You know how productive you are and how much work you need. Trust your instincts. One hospital account is not enough for a good MT. I can't imagine anyone is insisting on in-house training in this day and age, but any good MT should be able to connect herself and learn the technical aspects of an account remotely in, like...an hour.

When I first started, they were great. When mgnt changed, it became the almighty $$.  I and several of my MT friends lost our jobs b/c they outsourced the work to India, lied about it, said there was no work, when there was work. One account they still have, that I worked on was Vanderbilt University Hospital, which is a HUGE teaching hospital and is the trauma center. How can Vandy be out of work? It is a  a joke that they're named DTS OF AMERICA when work is outsourced overseas.  You can e-mail me privately if you wish.

I worked for DTS America for about a year. They changed the way they count lines, which caused the pay to drop about 20%. We were no longer able to keep track of our own lines, as they did not provide the software for that. I worked on trauma with quality of 98.5 or better. Eventually, I was making less than $6 per hour. They were constantly running out of work (read giving it to India). They required us to check the queue for work every 15 minutes, sometimes all day long! My state government lodged a complaint, and I was fired.

Offers medical effective first of the month following hire, which in my case was three days, as i started on the 28th of the month.

I am not sure if they are hiring currently, but so far I love the company, and the accounts are not too difficult to learn at all

I currently work for DTS America and for the most part they are a good company to work for.  The only gripe I have is we still receive our checks by snail mail (which for me means another 3-4 days wait for my check) and the work volume is currently lower than normal, but that happens with any company at times.

I am trying to sort out if they actually have a tie with or outsource to India or the Phillipines.  I see in previous posts that they are 100% American owned, but I do not see anywhere that actually states where their work is done.  Would appreciate any info on this company from MTs currently working there.  Thanks in advance.

I work there too. There is no work left anymore. They totally over hired. You have to be on your computer almost 24 hours a day to make any kind of living at all now. By the way, that different lady is gone now.

Can anyone tell me anything about Med Trans of America?  Have they always had payroll problems?

Is the former QMT, which has always had payroll problems.  I used to work for them until they stop paying.  Before that paychecks were always late (different excuse every time).  I found out later that the owner closes up business and opens up under another name when things get too out of hand I guess.  MedTrans of America is her third company at least.
