They may for 3rd shift - give em a call (sm)

May depend on the account; perhaps for clinic, but don't know for sure.   Call them - they're the nicest folks I've ever worked with in any setting, not just MT.

they call you if you don't work your schedule shift

Give me one too! Imagine the nerve of them expecting you to work your shift.
LOL
Thanks. will give them a call nm

Why don't you look her up on Anywho.com, give her a call
and ask her straight out.
No, sorry, no idea. Why not give them a call? nm

I agree, give MDI another call, bug them.
it will be worth a little bit of hassle in the long run.  They are one of the good companies.
There must have been something wrong ... please give either Becky or Lee a call as soon as you sm
see this.  Becky is at 630-739-5520 and Lee at 630-553-3680.  I know they are both in today as I had a payroll question (overpaid) and just talked to Lee.
Well, give a call to the person who hired you and
negotiate a higher line rate. You should have not problem since you already started and they know what kind of work you can do.
Give them a call; they are hiring a lot lately for new accounts
and are probably a little behind.
I call 5 years a chance. Give me the
old MDI where I was not a number, I was a human. I am now a disposable piece of equipment, a robot that they flip the switch to on or off as they want. I do not have all those FABULOUS days, and wonderful weekends that I hear about. I used to call the office but after 5 years I do not think anyone there even remembers my name. This is big business at its worst. Money gets to some people and makes them feel they are better than us peons who make them that money. I deal with people that I have never heard of before and some that are not that nice.

My price of gas tripled and my pay checks have been cut in half.
Debbie Hood is the HR person -- give her a call. nm

If you want to know the real scoop, always better to just ask.  Someone might pay me $20 a report (okay, in my dreams) and someone else something else.   I understand when people come here and want to know things a recruiter or HR person cannot or will not tell you, such as quality and quantity of dictation and dictators, reliability of being paid on time and such.  But if you want to know specifics of how much per report/line, what kind of bennies, direct deposit or no, etc ... why not just write an email or pick up the phone and ASK?

This is not meant to be rude or anything.  I just am curious.  When I signed on with a company, I saw posts saying 10 cpl was the ceiling and a bunch of other user-specific information that had nothing to do with what I was offered.  I made 11-1/2 cpl AND they paid my long distance.  A lot has to do with bargaining skills and what you have to offer.

JMO.

Metro in Georgia is one. Give them a call. Great people. nm

Give them a call. So many people switching companies all the HR depts must be really busy. nm

Can anyone from the Ohio MQ office give me a contact person and a phone number to call so I can talk
to someone there without getting a lot of other people involved before I find out what kind of accounts they have to offer. I am interested in transferring from my current office but would like to speak with someone up there first. Even an email address of someone would help.

3rd shift radiology can be like that. Feast or famine. Same with 3rd shift sm
ER work. Sometimes the doctors are too busy to dictate, so they do it at the end. Why don't you talk to them and ask about a different shift?
Ya know, even if I spend time during my shift or after that shift

it is still MY time, expected by the company, and I am not getting paid for it regardless.  I don't answer my phone while I am working, never did, never will.  What other profession, while probably punching a clock, do folks work for free?  If I worked in an office doing this, that time would be paid - say 15 minutes a day x 5 days a week at even $10/hour =   $50 a month - and it is more time spent than that to deal with the email thing and the reminders and the changes in specifics and logging in and out of 3 different accounts when primary is out of work.  GRRR.

I don't change jobs easily either, glad you are happy where you are - but producing 1400 lines of ACCURATE text will end my career soon (and probably yours also) and then what are we all to do?  My goal is not to work more, work harder and longer hours to produce a salary I can live on.

They pay well 10 cpl days, 11 cpl 2nd shift, 12 for 3rd shift
1300 lines a day required, 65 character line. They have benefits. Don't know much else.
I have worked both 3rd shift and day shift (SM)
including what you call banker's hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). I ran out of work more often on 3rd than I do now on the day shift.
Yes, call waiting works. I also have call forwarding from my home line

I am back in the 80s with the money I am pulling in. SS, retirement check and my paycheck, cha-ching. Not planning on taking it with me, never. Love to travel and have 4 places planned for this year. High maintenance lady here. Ta-Ta.
I get what you are all saying about them not having to give give you work, but...
I guess I just figure that as an IC, I am basically my own business and it is my responsibility to make sure that the work is done when it should be. I just think that if the standard of the company is 24 hour TAT then that is what I am agreeing to do when they hire me. There are advantages for both of us to the IC senerio, they do not have to pay benefits, or take care of collecting and reporting the taxes, and I have to adhear to the 24 hour TAT (or what every thier standards are) but can do that during hours that are convenient to me. Of course it is better for the company if they know exactly when I am going to be sitting at my desk and typing that is why they have the option of hiring employees. Just my opinion and wanting things to be like they used to be.. I guess I have to get out of my time warp or look a little harder for a company who really knows what IC status means.
Low pay, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. EST shift.
Been doing this a long time, only wanted to give me 7.5 cents a line.   Guess so many people are looking, they feel they can offer such low pay.
Only 2nd and 3rd shift, though. :( nm

shift
Which shift will you be working?  First shift has to flex a LOT because of low work/no work first thing in the morning, which of course will change your schedule for the rest of the day.  I didn't run out too much on 2nd shift, but if you work Sunday evening, you might not be able to finish out the week because of low work/no work.  (They don't have the best grip on when to turn off overtime on Friday/Saturday to keep enough work around for Sunday workers. Sunday is the end of the pay week.)  Very, very nice people.  My account was very good quality dictation, normal number of ESLs.  I left just last week because I wasn't making as much as I felt I should be making with my experience.  I liked the platform, but somehow I think it interfered with real productivity. I also didn't like working full-time on 2nd shift, but knew if I asked to move to first shift I would be forever flexing.  Just wasn't a good fit for me.  Hope you are happy there & good luck!
2nd Shift

I will be on 2nd shift 4-12.  That is my regular schedule I enjoy, and I am working Tuesday-Saturday, Sun/Mon off.  So, that should work GOOD for me.  I did read on some posts a while back that it was hard to get production .... I have 10 years experience and I applied for millions of companies.  They seemed to have the most to offer ...  Do you know how easy it is to move up to QA Editor ?  That is what I'm currently doing at Spheris.  I hate having to go back to transcription, but I only have 1 year QA experience. . .

Thanks for your info ! ! !

TT 2nd shift
Gee, thanks, for getting back on tonight and sharing in my work! Last I heard, we're supposed to work our assigned hours. Hope everyone soon has enough work.
Shift
They very CLEARLY stated in the interview that we must work the FULL 8-hour shift even if line requirements are met. It doesn't matter, with all the issues of server, their internet, and lack of work, you can't get that in less than 8 hours anyway.
That's 5 cpl for 3rd shift. nm

3rd shift
i was just offered a 3rd shift position with them as well. this is my first time on acute care, and they were willing to give this clinic MT a shot :) coffee will be my best friend!
If she needs someone for a certain shift,
then she needs to hire an employee, not an IC. I don't know how these companies keep getting away with this. Why are they not reported?
shift differential
i have been asking about a shift differential for over 2 years now as i mainly work in the evenings. it's like everything else with them they are in no hurry when it's something that benefits the MT.
No shift diff??
I've ALWAYS gotten a 2nd shift differential in Ohio...wow, that's not fair to U.
I'm just finishing my shift a second job so I
could get a decent paycheck.  MDI has been out of work for months.  Of course, if there are 3 reports on the account not typed, they have someone else come onto the account and type it so they are caught up.
JLG shift/production
Not sure what you mean by work by the shift versus production. JLG has several different software platforms and some c-phone accounts as well and pay scale and other account requirements vary. As for the accts I have, we are paid by production, 65-character line NO SPACES. I noticed that recently they posted an ad where they were offering to pay spaces for whatever account they were trying to staff, so even that is not uniform.

They say they pay a shift differential. I can tell you that when I hired I had to negotiate that with them specifically...otherwise they were not voluntarily forthcoming in specifying exactly what the shift differential is. Also, about four months later, they adjusted my pay rate DOWN, claiming that everyone in the company was taking the same hit...no way to know for sure. I still make a decent line rate, but it seems to me that my shift differential dried up when the reduction was made and the reduction has never been restored.

With regard to shift, when I hired, there was no universal requirement to work weekends (I hired as an IC). I was told I could work as much or as little as I wanted to. However, later on they did REQUIRE that we all work at least one weekend day (including ICs). Of course, again, I have no way of knowing if that has been enforced across the board.

Beyond that, at least in my case, they have been very flexible with my hours and days, just as long as I put in eight hours on the weekend. That eight hours does not necessarily have to be on the same day...can be split between Saturday and Sunday if you like. I don't work 5 days straight (Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday). I like 2 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, 1 day off...and that has been no problem. From time to time, I switch my day off and that has also never been a problem.

I am not sure how this works for fulltime employees and keep in mind, this may not apply to other accounts.
Ad from July said ICs for 2nd and 3rd shift only. Don't know anything else. nm

Is your shift key not working???
What's with the 'all lowercase' posts?
Shift differentials
Do companies have to pay shift differentials?
SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL
Webmedx pays shift differentials :)
If you are a 2nd shift, experienced rad MT, I bet
Keystrokes would go to 0.10 or .105 per line.

Make sure they know that you want another shift. There are
new accounts starting all the time, and if they know you want a different shift, they will move you the first chance there is. I have learned with Keystrokes that if you communicate well with them, they will bend over backwards. Took me a while to understand that they could not get the thought transfers I was trying to send :)

Seriously though, talk to them. You will find them to be more accommodating than a lot of other companies.
Shift lead

MTs were required to transcribe during our shift, and the shift lead part will now be handled by the team leader.  I have a good line rate and am happy to be typing, no problems here.  They are still a good company to work for.

24-hour shift
What companies let you do your work with no set schedule and give you 24 hours to complete your required lines??
What about shift differential?
My company does require a time sheet, but I think it's partly so they can pay your actual shift differential.

Does Keystrokes pay more for later hours?
No shift differential, but.......
Their pay rate is a little higher than most companies, and it is really easy to get a good line count there. I do anywhere between 2000-3000 lines a shift, so I am very happy and find that I don't even need a shift differential to make great money.
Regarding shift assignments, POV is everything!

From my point of view, day shift is the worst shift, third shift is the best, and second shift is just plain annoying.  When I worked in a hospital, I requested third shift; I was NOT working on third because I was new to the game and needed to earn my place on first shift. It was so much quieter, with less commotion, chaos, and crowds.  Now, I work at home and still prefer the third shift.  I don't want to have to ask someone's permission to take off for a day appointment or attend an occasional event or run an errand that can only be accomplished between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.  Also, my town is much more quiet at night; people aren't out there mowing their lawns or using those noisy weedeater contraptions, or even slamming car doors.  I hear very few screams in the night...

My point is that everyone has his/her own preferences.  There is no BEST shift or BEST anything; it is all a matter of opinion.

It would really mess up the whole job-seeking/recruitment game if we all proclaimed that we preferred third shift, or treated an offer of first shift as a punitive measure rather than that of a favorable move.

Who was it that decided that day shift is best, or that doctors are Gods?  I think it is all part of the major brainwashing scheme.  Some accepted opinions in this world are not what we think they are.

As an example, prior to the 1920s, the COLOR for BOYS was PINK?   Some one person must have started it, and the whole world accepted it, and now PINK is the color that we think of as being for GIRLS.

Let one person start an MT trend.  Then, word of mouth and the follow-me process will cause it to become an acceptable method/thought/science, whatever.

Come to think of it, isn't this the way that AAMT (or whatever the name now) and Stedman's books became the law?

Excuse me for getting off on a tangent;I realize this is not meant to be a blog.  Maybe I'll go find out how to start a blog, or maybe I'll just go back to knitting and looping.

BTW, I only can express my own opinions or facts, if I know them.  Otherwise, I am no God or Goddess, and do not want to be one.  For this reason, you will not hurt my feelings or change my mind, no matter what insults you may send my way.  For, I realize that you also must be a human, and you also must have some limitations.  So, even though hot debate may be healthy and fun, there aren't too many winners that result from it.

This is in an 8-hour shift
It is an ER account with about 8 or 9 doctors, and every doc has a template, which are counted as lines, and the reports are very short and easy. The platform is ExText.
Maybe because I worked 2nd shift?
Not sure, my supe just blew me off about it.  Also I found it never pays to work the holidays there (recognized and unrecognized) because there was rarely enough to type, and then you spent the rest of the week scrambling to get your time in as well as losing the holiday.  So double lines is no incentive when you're getting maybe a third of the lines you would on a normal production day, you can't break even line-wise under those circumstances.
