They have to drive a whole 10 miles. I am so jealous.

WOW. They have to drive a whole ten miles. I am so jealous. Since MANAGEMENT is based in Madison, Wisconsin and it takes 20 minutes to travel from one end of the city to the other, I do not think driving through the snow for a SPA weekend is all that much of a bonus. Now Cancun. That would be a bonus.

I got a travel mug! I work at HOME. I drive 10 miles a week. I don't drink coffee. Sheesh! lo
nm
I feel that way every day. Just 15 miles and 150
xx
For me, 9 miles, and have to get gas at the pump again.
calming waves and food. B/c of the gas. But working at home, I think I'll pay for a little gas and sit on the beach and scan for loose change to eat!
From what my employer says, the 50 have to be within so may miles of one another
Yes, there have to be 50 but they have to be within a certain mile radius before we are eligible for FMLA. It really doesn't count for home MTs if this is the case.
About that 75 miles clause
I've never seen that enforced on at-home employees, so I'm not sure. I HAVE seen references to FMLA in Medquist's literature, which implied to me that FMLA applied to MQ'ers. As many MQ'ers as there are though, maybe there are 50 or more employees in most 75-mile radiuses? Even with the Q though, that doesn't seem possible. The USA is a pretty big place... My thinking is that FMLA applies to at-home employees who are employed by companies with more than 50 employees.
Closest doctor is 30 miles away
Already looked into that and the closest doctor is 30 miles away which is too far for the money and they are all going to EMR anyway.
Few hundred miles north of fires but
we had a share last year with all the fires and smoke. Yes, California keeps gettin' kicked while we're down.
Email me with your filler job link?
I have known her for 8 years. She is miles ahead of OSI and I'm glad out of the viper pit
She has never been fired before but she blew it off and is already working. She could have w11m offered some significant skills in many ways if they had beev brimming the comopanybck to life.;
If there was a such thing, the black list for MT's would be miles longer than sm
that of MTSO's. I would love to see most of the MT's I have dealt with even begin to do what I do. Most don't have the social skills, personalities or work ethic to be good employees, much less MTSO's.
NOT ALL, BUT MOST. If you all can generalize, so can we. The difference is that we don't talk petty BS to each other as MT's do on the boards. I, for one, am sick to death of the bashing that goes on here. If you spent more time working and less yapping, you might make more money and be good employees.
you got THAT right!!! Jealous.....sm
We also work part time for MQ BECAUSE WE CAN............
now for all those down on us PT'ers.......go take a chill pill and MYOB.
What I do and how I work is NO BUSINESS of the *observer* nor anybody else.
I am very jealous ;)
Once the suits found out there was money in transcription, the overall quality and joy if you will of transcribing plummeted. It's all about the bucks now...
good luck!
Your just jealous!!!!!
xx
I still think she's just jealous
of the other MT. Too bad, too, because green does not become her.
I don't know, but I'm jealous!
Congratulations!
wow....I'm jealous. I put in way more than
8 hours a day just to get my $1500 every 2 weeks. I take it you have 2 part-time jobs at 2 different companies?
I am in exactly the same boat, 10 miles from small rural town, don't know any local
MTs even after 12 years in this community. I need to find something with decent pay and the same kind of flexible scheduling. I too had planned to stay with MDI through retirement and this has really thrown me for a loop. I would just look for a new career right now if not for the fact my kids are still young enough that I would like to still be at home/available, especially when one has a chronic illness and his needs can change on a dime.
Don't work for them and don't drive them.
nm
Yes, it drive me nuts too
I think I work for the same company as you!
hard drive
If you just delete the icon or link to it, yes, it will still be on your hard drive. If you go into Control Panel and Remove Program it will be deleted from the hard drive.
But if you don't drive as part of your MT job,
then why would there be a reimbursement? Or do you pick up and deliver tapes? Or work in house?
How can 1 person drive someone away sm
from a job when everyone works at home? At least I think everyone is working at home. I have worked places where I didn't like the people I worked with, but as long as I don't have to look at them all day what do I care?
I am starting to believe there is a certain percentage of people in MT (at whatever level) who are unbelievably sensitive to the point where they cannot work with or for anybody, either because they get upset over some imagined insult or because they are trying to be the top dog and aren't.
It sounds like you may be a little jealous.
I am not a recruiter, but you shouldn't not hire someone because they have a life. It is a shame that MTs do not use discretion when they need time off or need to shift gears so to speak. The fact that you know personal information, i.e., mother to the doctor, kids to school, is unfortunate. However, I would chalk this up to being honest. I do not remember the last time a company offered to take my children to school or to pay my electric bill for using my own computer at home to do their work. I am an IC, so I write it off, but if I were an employee then where is the compensation.
Have you thought for an instant that some MTs think 7 or 8 cpl is not worth the hassle of being CLOCKED every minute? I am a very successful Transcriptionist and do the work I am required to do. I work for a company that knows the true meaning of IC in that I work from a pool. If I cannot work today, then someone else is trained to do the work. If I can work tomorrow, then all is well and everyone is happy including my bill collectors.
I am one of those that does not like to work when my husband is home, but I am reachable. The fact that I have my own accounts is helpful. On the other hand, I have offered to work more, and told that there is no work. So, I go with the flow. I offer up Sundays and offer two late nights a week. I have also pitched in when someone took work and then had an emergency. Computers do fail, children do get sick, and if I were on-site I would have to leave for these types of situations as well.
I have worked on-site, and they were much more understanding that what comes from some of these rants regarding good MTs.
With all of that said, please don't clump us all together. In all fairness, there may be an MT out there that does get looked past because they do not have the required hands-on experience, but they may be a great typist, and no one will give them the chance.
lol for one im' not here to impressss you- and you are jealous of s/m
Her making money and not having to work. You clearly do not have a clue of how disability works. If you break your leg---- YOU CAN GET DISABILITY TOOO --- Have mercy.

Wow, are you blessed! I have 3 hospitals in a 25-min. drive &

We want companies to advertise - not drive them away.
Please do not mock their offers.

Residents and PAs drive me crazy
I have a resident who NEVER, EVER gives the patient's name.
I have a PA who can't pronounce meds let alone spell them ~ she says solatol, Spivira ~ and one time on a discharge summary, she listed 50 diagnoses. Took up a whole page. It was insane.
I'll take drive-bys any day over beheadings
I'm feeling pretty jealous of you...
Any chance at all you'll share the name of the company? I know that a couple of us here would love to join your team. (Feel free to e-mail me privately). I'm looking to pick up a little extra work at this time. I'm full time with a company now, working as team lead, and am basically happy there. However, the work has been low since the beginning of July, and it's just always a good idea to keep an eye out for a better situation.
Jealous? These are good people ...

That poster is just jealous of PTers. nm

I love it when people are jealous
and post negative remarks because a fellow MT is doing their job!!!!
Jealous of whom (you're a clairvoyant, right?
Jealous of whom? A pregnant girl wanting to start a family? I've had 27 months (9x9x9) combined pregnancy of my own, so the 'jealousy' accusation is in your head only, dear, but thank you for telling me what I'm (supposedly) thinking, anyway. And as for telling me to go break my leg and not having to worry about production I think those 2 are mutually exclusive issues - maybe you've learned to type with your toes, I haven't. As far as my worrying about my production (thanks AGAIN for telling me what I'm thinking) - no worries at all there.
If I were you, I'd brush up on my basic grammar and watch those apostrophes where they're supposed to be going -- you couldn't pass a simple third grade spelling test and worrying about production would be the least of YOUR worries!

Of COURSE I'm jealous of that trust fund!
Hey, then I WOULD be able to make money on VR! Without it...not so much.
STAY AWAY if you want to keep your sanity. They drive you crazy sm
with the constant changes. Every once in a while, the owner says she can't pay payroll and you have to wait but she does always pay eventually. It stays on track for several months and then happens again.
I thought I had it good there until I went to another service and found out that drama is not the daily norm for other companies.
The owner is a little nuts, but I probably would be in her shoes.
I also know that they are not as big as they lead people on to believe. Makes me wonder what else is not quite the truth.
Best move I made was to leave.
Would you please email me. I have a few questions before I drive myself nuts with this. nm
:
You will have to completely format the hard drive first
delete any partitions and create a new partition, format the C drive and then install Windows XP. I have done this a ton of times and have had no problems.
I'm jealous! Is it gross line or 65 character? I am also
on an ER account with EXText but I cannot get near that. Any tips to share? I love working at Keystrokes but would love to get those kind of lines even more!
I find that people who call others fraud are jealous.
Many people are jealous that others have made something more. It is the difference in each of us. I am sure if the recruiter who calls herself a hiring manager says she earns $46,000 that she does. I might even know who it is. I know I earn more and guess what?? I know one more recruiter that makes more than I do!
Being a recruiter, I know that you do not go around telling the company you earn that salary for because that is not professional to name the company, but if you think it is not possible, you are wrong. When you have excelled in the industry, it is not only possible, but probable.
If you want to make that kind of money, do something wonderful with your MT work and go for it, but you can't do it if you do not have the people skills or the ability to analyze.
Well, goodie for you, Flo! I'd be happy if I was Dairy Queen drive-through material
job for which I'm no way qualified to be in too.
Congratulations! Glad you're happy!
Same here. Too much fuzz and static on the lines. Redid the hard drive, new phones, new sound card,
