5th year (I think, not sure) and then 15 days. NO THEY DO NOT HAVE A STEADY WORKLOAD. They are up to something/contracting work cheaply. We were all on OT last week and now have no work during, as has been said in other posts, peak flu and RSV season. It ain't all the effect of the economy. You can't trust them at all.
I am unsure how the health insurance stacks up, but vision and dental are cheap.

Wondering about the 401k match - how much
is it acute care or radiology only? I read an ad for clinic - do the benefits only apply to acute care and radiology or do you have full time clinic MTs as well?
are there any companies that match 401k? (nm)
?
Companies (not just MTSOs) have 90 days to put the money into 401k accounts. sm
It has to be done by the end of the 90 days. My husband's runs about 89 days and he is not an MT. He is a union electrician.
You only get 3 holidays OFF per year. PTO is paid at a very low rate. There is 401k...sm
But the company match is only up to 2%. Employees are required to work at least 1 weekend day every week.
All of the hospitals/clinics have a lot of ESLs, that's just the way it is. But a lot of them also use canned normals, which we love.
There's a lot more to consider than how much the medical plan costs.
After 90 days full time, you are eligible for health insurance, 401k, Aflac, sm
and life insurance. One year for PTO. Direct deposit right away.
I am happy at Keystrokes, and happy with the benefits. The insurance is a little high, but my husband has a union job and it would cost us more to have him carry all of us.
The HappyKeystrokes poster seems to give a lot of misinformation. I have as much work as I can handle, but I do not type 350 lph or whatever amount she/he claims. I average 200 lph, up a little some days, down a little other days, but that depends on the doctors dictating, my motivation for the day, etc. Spring is the worst as I have hayfever and headphones bother my ears right now.
My check is right, is on time and is direct deposited. My taxes withheld are correct and SS has been paid (unlike somewhere else I worked that messed up my SS and did take out for state taxes). My lead is supportive and I think the company cares about their employees. I am happy with Keystrokes and cringe when I see posts like Happy Keystroker writes, which make us all look like Stepford Wives. This is a job, just with a company that I like working for.
I wanted to paint a more realistic picture.
Correction - TH has 5 PTO days 1st year/10 days 2nd yr
x
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.
nm
It's 11 days per year for everyone
nm
FYI, 11 days PTO is just the 1st year
It goes up with your years of service.
365 days a year
We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and of course 365 days an annum.
PTO = 5 days PTO after 1 year SM
More after 3 years or 5 years, etc. Insurance -- They are changing companies and I don't know much more about insurance. They tell us soon they will have a new carrier that is more affordable. Vista is not compatible with the oncology or ortho accounts -- Windows XP only.
ins after 1 year??? misinformed! 90 days
//
Any bonuses, days off first year?
Seems like a long time with NO days off for PTO or holidays, sick time, etc. Any life insurance or disability? THANKS SO MUCH!
3 days true only for 1st year; then you go to 10. NM
nm
No, it is 3 lousy days PTO for 1st year. nm
3 days of PTO 1st year NOT 1 week!
With the paid holidays. Absolutely not 1 week until you are there OVER a year, then 3.077 hours per pay period.
Must work one year and then 5 days off - no holidays
are paid days off. If you chose to take the day off you don't get paid, if you work the holiday usually lines and a half for that day.
Still not great PTO for first year. I get 12 days at current company. NM
NM
always slow this time of year...doctors take extra days off, et cetera.
it will pick back up again soon...
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.
That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.
OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.
I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.
Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.
but only match 3%.
they actually do match you up with sm
an account that meets your qualifications. don't think they aren't interested, this is normal protocol. I applied and didn't hear anything for about three weeks and then they hired me. They are not blowing you off. Hope that makes you feel better. H ang in there
OSi..4% match, 100% vested
nm
12 months and yes they match.
nm
I used them and am very happy with the match they
made for me.
they match up ppl with what services
they need...ie filing bankruptcy, they will link you with those resources. Lawyer referrals for what you need, not just a lawyer. If you use those services, you get a discount of one sort or another. Counseling, weight control, other life problems are free. Depends on what you need them for, but they are supposed to be pretty good. The hospital I work for has them for things like child care, elder care, cousneling, life matters, etc. Hope this helps.
I think it's just finding the right match....
I have worked for 3 different companies and currently work for two. On one of the companies I make at least $20 per hour, sometimes closer to $25 and on my second job I make between $30 and $45 an hour. I actually find myself dissapointed when I'm only making $20 and my husband tells me I'm crazy, that is good money to make at home. I don't work 8 hours a day though, neither job even has the work to keep me busy a full 8 hours. I work probably 5 straight typing hours per day.
I think you and Breitner would be a good match - EOM
My company matches 3%, others match more, but I have
not heard of an MT company that matches 100%. I don't have medical insurance through my company because I don't like the company (BCBS) and the premium for family is nearly $800.00/mo.
As a statutory employee, they take out FICA and match it. sm
Therefore, you do not have to file self-employment tax, like an IC. You are still not an employee per se, in that you set up your own schedule/make your own hours. You tell them how many lines you will do in a day, and every 2 months, you submit a schedule, telling them which days you will work.
You have to have your own PC. You can rent a C-phone from them, and some of the accounts are going to wav files, and I think the company provides the wav pedal for you.
Hope this helps!
i read it again, and exper and job des dont match

Could you keep me posted on that. I have yet been able to find anyone to match what I get on Escript
which is 5 cpl for editing. The only ones I hear about her anwhere from 2-4.5 cpl (2-3 by the way is an insult).
The pay doesn't match the knowledge level required! (s/m)
It seems like everyone wants years of experience, well-rounded knowledge of various specialties, perfect English & spelling, fast typist, yada-yada-yada. But the pay is a joke. And a regular 8-hour day/40-hour week? Forget it! Being paid on production leaves out the variability factor. (I'm on this board right now because I've been sitting here for an hour waiting for work from my employer!) So to make up the gaps, I put in 12+ hour days, and STILL need a second job. I've been MT-ing for 30 years, yet I can barely pay my rent.
And the problem starts with the hospitals & clinics who only care about the bottom line. They'll gladly pay to overstaff their facility with far too many overpaid, superfluous management personnel, but then get chintzy when it comes to their transcription needs. Yet they want perfectly done transcription, even with ESLs. So the MT companies have to bid low to get the account. And the people actually DOING the work get paid next-to-nothing.
I would like to see MT go back to being a good, solid middle-class job again, instead of the sweatshop labor it has become. Employers need to offer a true living wage in order to attract top MTs and retain them.
You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)
two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year. Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea. I'm pretty motivated. (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes I'd say 40-50/week. I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so. Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.
that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.
I'm pretty motivated.
They don't have 401K as far as I have seen. nm
401k
Why don't you contact Spheris HR? They should know what is going on.
401K
I am battling the same thing - keep in mind if they match they must do that before the end of the year, but your moneyshould be right away - dont stop at the labor board - contact your financial holder of the 401 k and report them. Labor board will not go after interest and cap gains and other earnings, so get your ducks in a row and go after them for everything, not just what they did not deposit in a timely fashion. My company - I worked fulltime in house - asked fo rmy resignation and now are fighting unemployment, although I can do IC work, it has no gaurantees to the amount every week, so I can get unemployment, they even said she harrassed me once I found out they took my money.
Get the plan profile and contribution schedule that is where you need to start. Your plan admin will also file with their compliance department and freeze any assests the company has until you get your money.
IRA and 401K
I saw some postings earlier and wanted to let you all know, just going to the labor board about money not being handled correctly may not be enough - however, I went righ to the SEC website and lodged a complaint against the plan holder for not managing my account, not giving me the information regarding the plan structure when asked, and for not informing me when my company did what they did. So if your company is screwing around, put in a complaint about the holder of the plan, that will get someone off their butts to help you out - they certainly do not want to be blamed when the SEC asks why they allowed mismanagement. I placed my complaint yesterday and the good ol SEC called me today. Just thought I would pass it on for those who have the same problem.
Again, the complaint is with your plan holder, who certainly would not want what your company did to be held against them.
401K
Hi All;
Are there any companies out there using the Escription platform that offer any benefits, especially a 401K---matching would be fantastic. I love the 2 companies I work for and my accounts, but really need to have a retirement plan. Guess I will just have to start my own, maybe a ROTH IRA. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Sue
401K
Larry told us in our conference call that there was 401K and that they contribute a certain amount based on the percentage you contribute. Please tell me this was not a lie.
Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm

401K ROLL OVER
If you are working for an MTSO that offers 401K, have you encountered any problem with roll over? Generally you have this option when you leave. One of my friends seems to have a problem. If you have any experience good or bad, please share.
Medware 401K
healthcare is only $17/week. The healthcare benefits are from United Healthcare and it is a very good plan, $250 yearly deductable and a prescription card too. Benefits start in 90 days. Hope that helps, I have worked for Medware for over a year and they are a very good company, plenty of work and my team leader is very nice.
Anyone get the 401k info yet? nm
nm
I was wondering about 401K too - Thanks - nm

Question for TT MTs about 401K
I am contemplating what I am going to do with my 401K money...move it to the new (as yet unknown) 401K plan offered by the new payroll service, cash out or keep it where it is and see if money grows? We really did not have it long enough for any of my money to grow at all, so thinking of maybe cashing out since times are so hard right now. But, I still wonder what the employer match will be, if any? I know it was to be based upon the previous year's earnings for the company, but we were not with the 401K for a year yet. I just wanted to ask what others are thinking of doing?
So much for my Spheris 401K
Got a letter today saying my Spheris 401K is at $0 balance. So much for leaving it alone until the economy gets better. I'll be working til they take me out tits and toes up. Sheesh........
Does Transtech have a 401K
..
401k at Transcend
Can anyone from Transcend tell me if the 401K is worthwhile. Do they actually contribute? I only ask because I have worked with another MT company that promised to pay and never did. Thanks!
