We had Wild Blue for about a year and you're right about the nice fluffy cloud throwing out the entire system. Here was another good one that kept happening to me: I worked on night shift for a while and once a month, they would shut the system down at about 2 am for maintenence. It would be down for about two or three hours.
Luckily, even though we live pretty far out, we live up on a hill that has a cellular tower, so we now use Verizon. It's reliable and pretty fast, but just watch going over your alloted data allowance - it gets really pricy after that.
