It has been a well-spread
rumor that an MT with this company has cancer and is being hounded about her line counts. Not cool IMO. Knowing management the way I do, I am not surprised.
QA spread
Have been MT for last 25+ years...QA for the last 12 years has been constant with all employees providing negative feedback consistently. It will be forever. Used Voice Recognition for last 1-1/2 years........
tricky stuff if mgr not transcription oriented or at least with knowledge base re MTs.
Now is all about the Numbers....cancels out passion for the process.
Whoever spread that rumor
I've been paranoid ever since the pay cut rumors post - thanks, rumormonger for spreading needless misery!
Are all of their accounts out of CA or spread across the country? TIA (NM)
xx
Unfortunately this is how rumors get started. SM
Someone posted that some company that uses ExText deducted 30% for headers/footers. I have no idea which company does this but it is NOT TT. They do not pay for headers/footers and will tell you this up front but there is no 30% deduction in your line count. What you see is what you get.
Disregard any rumors and try for yourself, sm
They are a great match for me. I am very happy with the account I am on, like the stability of having a primary with backups. Pay is comparable with others. They do pay for down-time that is their fault. They do have incentive pay (and you can negotiate your line rate if you don't need benefits).
They are not for everyone though, not is any company out there. Rumors on this board in the past have been very misleading and some were just not true. Everyone I have come in contact with has been very nice, that's why I am still with them after 5+ years and not complaining. Steady work, your left alone to do your job, and the platform is easy to learn and can be very productive since you are on a primary account.
If you like what you hear from the recruiter, get it in writing and give them a try.
No one is starting rumors
We are just trying to figure out the line count problem. Do you really think if we asked management they would tell us they are skimping on lines or how they go about doing it?
This is how rumors get started.
Management at TT came from another company, why would they turn around and sell? The reason they have low work is the overhiring for the new accounts, nothing other than that.
Go spread your lies somewhere else. This is utterly false. sm
There are three people who do the training, and it is very thorough. How would you know anything about the owner? First of all, it is they not she. Secondly, I have worked at KS for 3 years and have never had any contact with either of them.
I am training to be a lead transcriptionist, so I have talked to a lot of managers, other leads and transcriptionists. All are very busy, and the accounts are not overstaffed. Every one of the more than 20 people I have been in contact with are very happy.
There have been no accounts lost in the past several years. If you were really an employee, you would know that no one has pulled an account and that there are new accounts constantly.
Broken promises? Very vague, don't you think? The employee book spells everything out. There are no secrets.
Either they let you go for one reason or another and your are bitter or you were never hired.
I think that Keystrokes is the most improved company I have ever seen discussed here or on other boards. They did have problems when they started but those are in the past. Current employees are either happy or being worked with to make them happy.
I am looking forward to being a lead and to staying with Keystrokes as long as they will have me.
Risking cancer spread waiting on ins
I was saddened to read that you are risking the potential spread of cancer by waiting for your insurance to cover testing and treatment.
First, I think the 12-month waiting period would make it Dec 2009 rather than 2010, but, still, waiting til Dec 2009...geez...I hope you reconsider what the consequences are.
You might check into other options for paying for testing/treatment, including extended payment plans, public or private financial assistance, loans, whatever it takes. This is your health and your life that you are risking by delaying. Is that worth the price?
I'm thinking about all the people who have lost their lives because an otherwise treatable cancer was not caught early enough.
I'm sorry for your situation and hope I haven't sounded preachy. Just hope you will reconsider your options. Best wishes.
That is good news! Glad you got to spread
xx
the rumors can be quelched by doing a search
about their wonderful benefits program, a post which blew up in their faces. I disagree with your statement that their benefits are better than most and I base it on that post and my experience with other MTSOs.
Yes, TH beats the pants off KS for its benefits package, its professionalism, organizational abilities, going above and beyond and more. I wholeheartedly agree with the other TH poster and can attest every word about TH was the truth.
Heard rumors that Transcend does...
but can't confirm it. 7 cpl for over 10 years of experience is criminal.
Rumors don't hold water with me.
GIVE FACTS or keep quiet. You keep trying to down TT everytime someone posts a question. I have asked you time and time again for the FACTS which you have not provided.
You heard....i.e., you DON'T know. You ASSUME. Why don't you go right to management and confront them and THEN AND ONLY THEN, come back to this board and post the TRUTH. Until then, stop trying to spread RUMORS!!!
what kind of attorney did u all hire and in which state? What if u are spread
all over the US and there are like 8 that were not paid? Do we get an attorney in the same state as the loser who did not pay us? Or what is your advice there? What did u do? How much did it end up costing u? Plz reply via email if you want.
This is how rumors get started. Most KS MTs are employee status and there
is a benefits plan, which I think is better than most.
Too many people take what is said on the internet as Gospel, which is sad when it is not true.
They are trying to go to employee status only unless you are incorporated with your own liability insurance.
please don't try to start rumors. spheris BUYS your
nooooo, they are not merging.
Is this a SOM hospital? I am worried myself. Rumors flying. nm

Webmedx, not rumors, true story
Maybe you work on accounts that are not experiencing ASR yet. All I can tell you is I have gone from around 1700 lines a day to now struggling to get 1000 and get those only because I consistently sit at my desk clicking new report to be taken to another job, and many times there are no jobs available. I am not spreading rumors. This is a true story of what has happened to an employee, one who has been called a most valuable employee, one who has worked diligently for 3 years for this company and has over 30 years experience. And, yes, I have multiple accounts. In fact, at the present time I have 20 accounts as I have called several times to request more work so my family does not suffer.
I am not a complainer, not looking to cause ill-will. I am a concerned employee of a company who has not been straight foward regarding what is happening to our employment. Of course, this may not be happening across the board in all accounts, but it certainly is in mine and if you look at the posts on this board, I am not alone.
I am a good worker, reliable, accurate, with high QA, a producer and work on the most difficult accounts with lots of ESL. Do not judge a situation which you do not know.
Boy you must like starting rumors. How completely ridiculous.

Ditto to Queenie. My accounts have Overtime as well. Don't spread lies. sm
You need to ask for more work or another account. I have NEVER run out of work, but, I also have 15 accounts in my profile. Don't complain about running out of work when you can ask for more and get more.
Thanks a million!! I guess the spread sheet confused my eyes. :)
nm
I just do my work and when rumors crop up call and ask. Simple as that...
too much panic and speculation makes for an unproductive day.
Also easy to put an end to it if the company would simply communicate their denial of the rumors, as

That's going to be nuts...I do ASR work too, plus work split shifts. We'll NEED a spread shee

Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm

Absolutely not!!!
MTs make more money than migrant farm workers. We work fewer hours. We get to sit on our butts inside the house with air conditioning while they're outside doing physical labor in the hot sun. Our supervisors don't threaten us with deportation. We're not exposed to harmful chemicals and pesticides that cause cancer and birth defects. Believe me, migrant farm workers have life a lot worse than you do. I would suggest you try it out for a few months if you really think MT is that bad.
Absolutely!
Got 1300 lines in today so far, how many you got?
Absolutely . . . sm
But there's no need for personal attacks and insults. And while I have looked to this forum for info on companies, I'm really not interested in someone's daily nonstop personal vendetta against a company. And just because someone else doesn't agree, that doesn't make them "crazy" or "management." Those remarks are ridiculous and uncalled for. If you want to be the playground bully, go find a playground.
Oh, absolutely!
"Kuddos" is a very important medical word.
Absolutely not

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!
Depends on your acute - on my training account I was typing 300 lph - now, they put me on the other hospitals in that same account, with TERRIBLE dictators, etc. - and I'm lucky to get 100-150 lph. It's disgusting. Now today - after the big incentive all weekend for my account - after weeks and weeks of backlog, there is absolutely no work. Isn't that special?
You absolutely sure?
no more
Absolutely NO.
You wanted me to make something up, so I did. :-)
Use your tools! Google it! do your homework. Ask professionals.
If people don't answer you here then you need to look elsewhere. None of needs to be called to task because we didn't take time from our lives to address something you could have found on your own (which is probably why you didn't get responses until you got pushy). Be grateful and thankful that some people finally told you where you should already know to look.
You know the saying, give a man a fish....teach a man how to fish....

absolutely not.....
No company should take that long to pay. Even those in other areas of work who get paid once monthly, get paid at the end or the first of the month, not 2 weeks after the fact. That is ridiculous. I would come right out and ask them why the pay is taking soooo long!
The only reason (or excuse) would be they can't get paid any sooner from their clients, which means they should renegotiate pay schedules with them.
No one I know has ever had to wait that long, either at home or in a private facility, to get their check, or else no one would be working.....they would go to someone else where they get paid and can PAY THEIR OWN BILLS ON TIME!!
Absolutely NOT
IF you love nursing, there is definitely a shortage of nurses. GO...GO.. GO!
Absolutely!!!!
I just started the overnight check thing this week and was curious how it worked. I hate relying on it to come by snail mail, need it to be a little more dependable. I have been with them for about 6 months now and really do enjoy it. I have my own accounts and just have to meet the TAT (48 hrs). The pay isn't the best but I finally like what I am doing again so it's worth it.
I left my e-mail address this time, so you can email me if you want.
Absolutely, consider it done!
This is my mission right now! Damn it, we did not deserve this and now the poster above is right, no email to give us our final resting instructions. I called out sick at Heartland last night due to my state of mind and Melissa Carr, my former manager sent my email to Kathy Clemmons and Colleen Neidert, guess you can't use your sick time either!
I am no longer mamacarolina, but Mary Kirkpatrick, ex-Heartland employee, standing up for all of us at Heartland. I want our voices to be heard. I want this to stop!
Absolutely Nothing
Zip, zilch, nada. She probably doesn't even know it's MT week. Sad, isn't it?
ABSOLUTELY!! Go for it! nm

Absolutely
Have to find something else. I heard a lot of good things about this particular company I am with on the board and thats why I went to work for them, but this is really awful. I figured even with a line rate increase$$ its going to make very little difference.
Absolutely.
No need to waste your time or theirs if the pay isn't enough
Absolutely!
I OFTEN email the reporter on a story - have even been interviewed as a result.
I ALSO like to follow the links/google jerks like this Acusis guy and email them as well. I have NO beef with poor people in other countries trying to improve their lives, BUT I have HUGE beef with cRapitalists in this country sending our WELL-EARNED, decent paying jobs overseas. Wake up people! Don't Americans see what is happening? By shipping good/high wage jobs overseas, we are now forced into a lower stardard of living. PROTEST IS PATRIOTIC. Lift your voices and let your public officials hear from you: FAIR trade, NOT free trade.
And BOTH parties are equally guilty!

I edited quite a bit of work that she contracted out to an Indian company, which was horrible, and got paid the wrong amount. Although she did make it right, I decided after just a few days this place was not worth my time and effort. She talks the talk (looking to make a difference in the MT business, values people, etc.), but she does not walk the walk.
absolutely right ...
Independent contractors set their own hours, IRS will hold a companies feet to the fire for that. I work Saturdays for Transcend and I gave them my hours I want to work and they accepted them. I think the weekend hours asked for is dependent on the account you work. At least that has been my experience with Transcend. All is negotiated when you are hired.
yes, absolutely.
xx
ABSOLUTELY
I will continue to be a cheerleader as well. I agree with all the good things you said about TransTech. I simply couldn't feel happier with my choice to go with them 2 years ago.
absolutely
I have written emails stating why i deserve the raise and have always gotten one that way. Plus I would always ask for more than you expect...bump the request up to 1 full cent so that if they give you half, you got what you wanted but you could get a bonus too.
Absolutely not. SM
Only the Administrator (owner of the board) and myself (main moderator). There are a couple of other moderators for the political boards, etc.

Absolutely do it
I did the same approximately a year ago. I've got everything you mentioned, plus they pay my cable bill, plus I get generous PTO allowances, plus they don't run out of work, plus the pay and benefits are great, plus I have the same doctors all the time. What's not to like? Also, I'd think being an IC is not dependable like it used to be. I think you should go for it and fast.
