A year ago, I was offered 8 cpl for experience and I needed my own Word 2003. I turned them down. nm

Don't know mgmt, but in Feb. you needed Word 2003 and Office 2003 to work. nm

MS Word 2003
Does anyone know where I can purchase MS Word 2003?  My new computer runs Microsoft Suite 2006.  Word 2007 is the latest thing, and my new employer's system can't run 2007.
I had to get word 2003
for their program, and it was like $350! My computer only has 2000.
Word 2003
I know it kinda sucks about having to upgrade for just one job, but it was actually money well-spent for any future jobs you take. It always looks good on a resume to have updated versions of whatever program is available. Hopefully if things don't work out where you are, you'll be able to get a new job somewhere that appreciates hard work!! =)
Word 2003
Any idea why so many MTSOs are now requiring Word 2003? Reviews state it's not much of an improvement over 2002 and that it has some features that actually slow you down.
They last had an ad here in 6/2006, FT only, using Weblinc software. Past posts said

You say word 2003 upgrade. Is this

I didn't have to upgrade because I had it already but if its the same company I think the QA person can use a class in learning how to deal with people without rudeness.

AlphaMed is new, so pay isn't that high yet and you need Word 2003 there. nm

I was offered 8.25 cpl in the beginning of 2006. Turned it down. 13+ years in.

Last year you needed Word 2003 to work for them. Prior to that, you used their machine

ExText is integrated with Word. Auto correct is a part of Word.
ExText is a Word based platform. When the page opens for you to type the document it will be just like you are typing in MS Word.
In Jan. 07 they offered 7 cpl as IC and you had to BUY their software. Past posts

I work for Axoltol and have in the past been offered

a position with TransTech.  I read on the board that TT does not pay for spaces.  I don't remember from my interview whether they do or not   The money wasn't that great at TT so I turned it down.

At Axoltol (work there and still can't spell their name but it rhymes with bottle) line rate is 2 cpl what TT offered me.  There aren't production bonues, but there is OT.  Benefits are excellent.  Insurance is very good and cheaper than any I've seen anywhere.  My DH works for an extremely large company and even his insurance isn't as inexpensive.  Insurance starts the first day of the month after you are hired, so if you were to start today insurance would start May 1.   Vision insurance is free, as is long/short-term disability.

They are rigid about your schedule.  You get to set it, but then they expect you to stick to it, though if you need to go to the doctor or something there isn't a problem getting off.  You are expected to to 1200 lpd/12,000 lines per pay period.  Some days I have trouble doing 1200, but I do extra another day.  Platform is very easy.  One of the things I like most it shows how much you make per report, how much you make per day, how much per pay period, etc.  I like to see the numbers.  I have a goal each month and it motivates me to see the numbers going up.  They provide equipment (even flat screen monitor).  Company is still small but growing.  They don't offshore.

QA is great, you can see corrected report and also relisten.  You don't get to see old reports from other MTs.

I was worried about being more regimented in my schedule, but it has actually helped me to have more time to do the things I want to do.  Instead of working a bit here and there I sit and get it done.  I'm not tied to my chair, I still take breaks.

Can you tell I love my job?

MTs have been offered 6 cpl in the past. Their ads have always asked for Cphones. 800 lpd is part

EXText for Word
What companies use EXText for Word and Transnet?
extext/word
No, I used to work for OSi and they were good to work for, just didn't pay enough. I was offered a job with Trans-Tech, who pay much better, but then I ended up taking another offer.
We use EXText Word
expanders and normals, which is the only way to make it anymore in this business.
ExText word
Don't know what company you work for or if my short-cuts would apply, but I was taught very specific short-cut navigation keys, plus I can use my regular expanders/short-cuts within speech text as needed. Did you get a tutorial/training?
extext word/transnet
OSi and Trans-Tech use that platform.

I've done that several times in the past. - sm
The alternative (insanity? suicide? homicide?) just isn't worth putting up with all that c_ _ p.
Extext is basically like typing in Word.
Very easy. My favorite platform of any I have used.
Extext word speech question

I am a new MT, and I am greatful for my new opportunity, but I was told being a new MT means I have to produce like the experienced MTs and show what I can do.   I am working on Extext word speech program, and it seems like no one has an answer about using short cutkeys to produce quicker.  Is there any shortcut keys to use for this program and if so where are they?  Is there a shortcut key for using the numbering without going to the toolbar? any functions to move spaces quicker without clicking the mouse, etc.

I really want to do well.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!!!!!!!

I've been happy for the past 2 years
No problems at all for me, and only getting better now with our annual raise (I know it's small, but it is something), holiday pay, more PTO, etc.
I've done this a couple of times in the past
I had specific questions regarding the platform and Expander program compatiblities, as well as how lines are counted among other issues. As the recruiter did not know the answer to these questions, I was given the name and number of the MT manager to speak with. At least one job I declined based on the manager's responses, not because I thought she did not handle the questions well, but found out enough to know the company was not what I was looking for.

On those occasions where I spoke directly to the MT manager, the companies were very impressed with my knowledge of both MT and word processing/computer issues and ended up wanting me to come to work to a greater degree than I feel they would have if I had not talked to the manager.

I don't think it would be inappropriate to ask. The worst that can happen is the recruiter says no and can't answer your detailed questions. In that case, that company is not a right fit for you.
I've made 50K+ in the past, but the variable is
What type of work or accounts you are doing. If you are working as a sub and get put on continually changing unfamiliar work, then you'll be lucky to struggle through 20K. The same person put on work they are good at and familiar with can easily make 30-50K+. Many of MT companies do not match familiarity of work and why many skilled MTs are making less and less.
do they hire clinic MTs? Seems I've only seen ads in the past

Is Dictaphone EXText compatible with Word 2007?

What is your favorite company you've worked for in the past??
I'm just curious if anyone has a favorite company that they've worked for and why are they your favorite?
I've had steady work the past 2 days on
my primary account, but I'm pretty sure it only has to do with people being off. I don't think there has been any kind of major change for the greater good or anything. So I'm not getting excited. I'll be back at the soup kitchen probably next week - so someone save my seat!
The ExText will be interfaced with your own Word version unless the company installed something
s
I've been on OT all but 2 days the past 4 months. If work is slow
that just means we get a chance to get caught up with TAT.  Get paid for downtime too if no work.
No, but I've been offered a job by them and (sm)
haven't been able to find out a whole lot of info about them. They sound okay. Hopefully you'll get some more responses to your question. Good luck!
Similar. ExText is Word based. I prefer it to Meditech for ease of use.nm

I've been offered several positions with 9+ cpl
rate because I tested so well.  I've been told that they couldn't pay me more than that to start with because that left no place for me to go.   Maybe not all companies offer a rate based on testing, but I know first hand that several do.
I'm being honest when I say I've been offered that lately by

at least 3 different companies and that is as employee, not IC.  I am able to do the horrible ESLs without any blanks at all, which may have something to do with it.  These are all companies that advertise on the job boards here.   I have also been offered less by some very small companies.  I think one company offered 7 cpl as an IC and that was based on experience as I didn't test at all.   I e-mailed back and said no thanks.

I've just been offered a position
at Transolutions but the recruiter e-mailed info, and I haven't had a chance to ask any questions. Do they provide the computer? How much training do they usually do?
the best i've been offered as an employee (not IC... IC pays more)
is 8.5 with 17 years :( the industry has gone to hell in an Indian handbasket :(
I've been offered a clinic position making 0.72 cpl
as an IC, have to train for 1-2 days in which you type reports but you don't get paid for them.   No it isn't TransScam.
I've typed radiology on Extext...
for several years now and I wouldn't want to work on any other platform. I love it.

The session statistics will vary depending on several factors. I also worked for a company where the ability to view was not allowed, and the reason for this was because the Extext line counting was different from the line counting used by the company I worked for. If the specific contract your MTSO has with the account you work on is not paid by the same line counting configuration, then the session statistics will not be the same as the line counts you get off of the iChart website which are set up according your account's specific line counts parameters.

You will probably find as many people that hate Extext as you do that love it...I for one definitely do love it. Good luck! :)
I've always used my own ShortHand when using ExText. Always compatible, and

I agree. Extext is the platform I've ever worked with. nm

I've been with AccuSTAT WI for 7 years. We don't use VR. We used MS Word to type in and depe

I agree. The line counter is a pain, but I've checked lots of reports against MS Word

In my Extext experience count was about 10% less than the Word count. nm
