Try to find a positive post here
Sorry, but I don't know about the schools. I got into transcription from being in the medical field.
I don't blame you for not wanting to hear the negative. I am sick to death of seeing this negative stuff as well. I checked in here looking for samples and mistakenly decided to answer a post from someone who asked for a company recommendation. I complimented OSi for standing by me through hard times, then got mortally raked over the coals for doing that. No company is perfect but neither am I.
This board is filled with people criticizing OSi, other companies, and other people. I hope you can get an answer to your question. I have had enough of disgruntled people on this board.
Finally a positive post about MT.
I love this job and profession. Yes, things do change, but so does everything else. Change is the only constant in life. I have raised my 3 children and was home with them. I bought the farm that I now live in in a very rural area, the dream of my lifetime, and could not do it if I did not do MT. But because I do and I work at home, I can live anywhere as long as I have electricity and high-speed DSL. I have direct deposit. I don't have to pay 3 bucks a gallon to get to work. I will stay in this profession until the day I retire. I get to be home with my disabled husband, pets, and see my granddaughter when I want, as long as I okay time off with my employer.
For me, this is a GREAT JOB and I love it.
No doom and gloom here.
I can also give you a positive post. sm
I also work at Spheris and have had a very good experience. Great supervisor, good accounts, nice team.

Your post wasn't positive...
by any means. And how do we know this was a 'respected MDI liaison?' This is an anonymous board, so do not act as if you know who is posting here. You have no idea... just like the rest of us.
With all the negative posts in response to a positive post, I am
surprised that anyone posts anything here.
I do not work for Keystrokes but I like to see what is out there, and the benefits they are offered, if coupled with a decent line rate and steady work load, are better than most I have seen.
Gone are the days of fully-paid pension plans. Gone are the days of three weeks' vacation. Employers cannot afford these, and not just in transcription.
If you aren't interested or do not like something, just ignore the post. You obviously were interested or you would not have read it.
Can't we cut back on the nasty posts on this board? If it does not concern you, don't criticize.
If you are not looking for a new position, don't gripe about ones that are being offered. If you are looking and a company's line rates, benefits or perks don't meet your personal requirements, why cut that company down? Just move on and good luck finding what you are looking for.
I agree with the poster about being mad at the entire industry, but I still love my career choice. It has been a good fit for me and has allowed me to live a nice lifestyle.
If I wasn't happy, I'd move on to another career.

Sometimes you can find an old post by doing a search.
I think the post you are referring to was from 11-28, and is probably on page 2 by now. It was from the owner of AAmT where she wrote:
We are currently in the transition phase of taking on business from another company. Therefore, please do not be confused if you call the office number and hear Synthescribe. Synthescribe is a corporation in Nashville who provides offshore labor solutions to health care providers in conjunction with onshore. AAmT is acquiring service contracts of Synthescribe's and will be providing 100% US labor solutions to these clients. I personally look forward to building a team of qualified US MTs and editors to support these health care facilities. They are thrilled about the fact we will be providing onshore services under AAmT's leadership.
Hope that helps clear things up for you.
Happy Holidays

Well-I don't have anything positive
to say about my experience so I guess I will shut up!!
Positive for me
n/m
At least something positive
came out of this! :)
Not positive, but I think . . . sm
the poster was referring to $1000/mo. since that was the original amount in question.
Mostly positive
It is very different from medical transcription and the pay is low and first payment is delayed, *but* if you want to learn something different and are willing to deal with the learning curve, it is OK. I like the break from medical and the challenge...
I would *not*, however, put all of my eggs (or even most of them) in this basket. Unless/until you are proficient in this type of transcription, you'll probably starve.
And even if positive
Even if you give a positive response to anything someone along the line will knock you down for whatever it is worth. Sometimes it just not worth it. Read the comments I guess for whatever they are worth.
Does anyone have anything positive to say about.....sm
Softscript? I would like to know what makes them an undesireable company to work for as everything sounds okay to me. Is it their pay? What is it? TIA
Be a little more positive.
I too wish this site can be more positive. I mean, I understand we all need to vent sometimes, but get a grip!!! There are pluses and minuses to every profession. If you really can't stand doing this, consider finding a new job or starting a new career. There are still transcriptionists who like doing this type of work. For those of you who are so unhappy with your job, are you going you reject your paychecks when you receive it?
Positive
My daughter worked for them for a couple of years and for the most part, she was happy there. They are (as many companies now are) sticklers about your scheduled hours but that isn't such a bad thing. She never ran out of work and had support from the company when she needed (okay until she needed time off and they said no they couldn't spare her and that's why she left)
Would you mind emailing me?
So? Is being positive a bad thing?
Maybe this person is the first person to say "can I help?"
Maybe she came from a company where she had the worst account, and now has the best account imaginable (It happened to me--I adore my account at Transcend!)
Maybe she communicates with QA rather than having a "they're out to get me" attitude.
Maybe she is concerned about building rather than destroying.
Maybe she's just one of those people who makes the best out of any given situation.
If I were in management, someone like that would definitely be among my favorites.
I can probably say that, without a doubt, you'd not be on my "favorites" list, without ever having met you.
Spheris positive
I have been there a little over a month, and so far, I absolutely love it. I had 6 years with MQ and not many of them happy. Hoping this is my new "home".
Positive Spheris
Have been with EDIX/Spheris for five years and still happy! It is not perfect but have a great supervisor, earning good money and my hours are what I want! Guess we are all looking for something different in companies. Can email me if you like.
Not all positive but not all negative..
At least I stayed busy with them and not sittling idly waiting for work like now.
Positive for me and I agree...
it depends on the supervisor/account. Was a lot of tension for ME for a while, but since new super, been very, very positive.
I had a positive experience
I agree totally with cjs. I had other reasons for quitting them recently.
I have positive experience's with OSi
I have been with OSi for probably 6-7 years. Lord, I am so busy I can't remember.I get paid very very well for my position. I to have rose from the ranks and it did not take long because my goal was to be a superviser. I have never been a manager before so I learn as go but I am enjoying everything about it - to feel that I I am being looked up to and that I can set an example and teach something. It is a goal I have come up with some good ideas that were not in place before. All companies have journies they must take so we may never have perfection so we will hope for the best. I do love working with the new girls who are the future but we still appreciate our older and middle aged women who are strong and perform excellent work. Just so you know that you are not forgotten. Promotions are for everyone , not just the newbies, but is gives them an extra step and helps them be strong for the future. It makes them thrilled that they have been promoted.
One positive - pay on time. sm
Pay is low. I was given work load that stretched my day into 15 hours and low $$$. Burned out and exhausted by the time I stopped working there. Owner is famous for making lots of promises and not following through, and her martyr routines once you notice how hard it is to make lines. They constantly call and IM for things a clerk should be doing. I have heard since I left that she gives some of her work to Indians.
Regarding positive feedback
As company policy, DSG's QA staff never send MTs feedback. All feedback comes from management. There is no such thing as positive feedback. You will get some form of QA information on rare occasions, never a job well done, and often contradictory to previous memos or e-mails or even other direct feedback. The only way to get any response is to pick up the phone, don't rely on e-mails, and call the highest level of management.
Positive feedback???
At DSG you get no direct feedback from the QA people. You only ever get feedback from management. I never once had a good job or any sort of positive feedback. All I ever had was specific information about account specs, and these change with the wind. On some accounts, the spec changes are so often it's hard to keep track of what's going on. Also, the feedback is very rare, or you can be told about something that you have being doing for months that now is wrong.
Positive thinking
I am a positive person everywhere in my life, except when it comes to talking about my job and this industry. Most of the people in this industry that I am surrounded by are the same way.
Minnieha, maybe you can share with us the name of the company you work for that is more positive than negative? I have been searching for a good fit for the last 2 years and each employer is worse than the last. Thanks for the info.
Michele
I can only say positive things
about Chronicle Transcripts. If you are considering a position with this company,I would certainly not hesitate.
nothing positive to offer
being a former employee who also went through the same things you see here.
So far EVERY message is very positive
So far so good.
IC is only in Canda now....I am almost positive.
I am employed part time flex, and am required to produce 2,000 lines per week. I have given my PS a schedule, but lately with all the bonuses being offered I have been all over the place with my hours. She does not complain as my accounts are out of TAT.
I will qualify for the quarterly bonus so long as I transcribe my 2000 lines per week, and the hours worked do not matter.
My PS is great. I do not get much complaint if I am not working my schedule to a tee, as I am flex. She knows she can count on me if the work falls behind.
Also, there is no maximum lines per week you can type. I tend to transcribe 6000 per week, but like the PT flex status.
Hope this helps.
Yes, positive is powerful!!
I agree, great for you! and great for Diskriter. For some reason, it is so easy to ditch these companies here, it should be just as easy to speak positive about them when the occasion arises (without so many assumptions). So many people out there are looking for a good company to work for, I see posts on here all the time for references to a good company, but not many positive answers. I think it is great to hear something good about a company and VERY encouraging!!
Thank you very much for your post and I did not ASSUME anything negative about it. Diskriter has posts on her all the time. What a kind way to say thank you to them as well, by speaking good of them to others!
God Bless You all and may the New Year bring many positive postings to this site and positive thoughts to those who are reading!!
MBS - on a positive note. sm
I have worked with ******* for almost a year. She has always been pleasant, responsive, and pays on time - has actually overpaid me once.
My experience very positive
Just started but first paycheck on time and correct, management very responsive in general, and at this point I have no real complaints.
BTW: If my emails for support were ignored - or not responded to - on a regular basis, I *would* call them and advise this was a problem. You are certain to get a better response calling and speaking to a staff member than just venting about it on a board that can't address the issue(s).
Not positive this is the same company
but my first MT job was for STAT Transcription in San Jose about 12 years ago. At that time I believe they did straight clinic accounts and everyone used a C-phone and Word Perfect 5.1. I was with them for a couple of years before the work dried up, I moved on, and they eventually sent me a letter requesting their C-phone back. I actually assumed they went out of business. I really liked the job, and my favorite memory is of getting invited to an awesome Christmas party hosted by the owner. Sorry I don't have more recent information to share!
I got the feeling she was trying to be positive for those of us
who are a bid scared because we have little work on training... I think also she was responding to 4vrtpng...who did answer her but these other posts got in between. Just my 2c or take on it.
Isn't it interesting that most of the positive sm
posts here are from long-time MTs? Our work ethic and attitude are quite different.
