In Reply to: In all fairness, MANY companies do business overseas sm - another side of things
is that with clothing, electronics, and cars, the fact that they are made overseas is either displayed prominently on a label or easily ascertained by doing a little bit of research. People then have a choice to use that product based on their beliefs and the perceived quality. Most doctor's don't even know where medical records are transcribed let alone being able to tell their patients.
The second problem is that a broken radio or poorly sewn shirt can returned. A person cannot be rebuilt, refurbished, or restored because of a critical mistake in a badly transcribed medical record. Have you ever considered trying to go get a job as a Transcriptionist in France based on what you remember from your high-school French class? Or applying for a job in India for the same because you can understand an ESL physician? They would LAUGH at you, and yet American companies somehow think shipping this stuff overseas is okay.
There was an ad for Spheris India - it is somewhere on the main board I think - that says you don't have to be able to speak English to apply but just type it. HUH? With karma being what it is, you can bet one day one of these CEOs will be lying on the table and the doctors will not be able to decipher his medical record in time to save their life. Then the millions won't matter at all.
