Sad but true. You're asked to work NOW, then asked to stop NOW, then go again and then stop
If you dont get off the minute the hospital asks, even if you have no idea that they have requested that your to be off, then the hospital MTs steal your work right out of your queue and I mean reports you have already done. I dont understand the concept of having a contract with a hospital and then having to fight for work with the hospital MTs. We should have guaranteed work during our shift and enough of the the hospital wants you to help right now and then a few hours later they want us to stop working as the work is too low. It is crazy and I couldnt work like that so I had to quit.
I don't think we work at the same place, but I have been working lots and lots of hours.

still on full QA? That's kind of strange. I don't know anyone that's been on QA longer than a week, unless it's a new account and they want to make sure all the account specs are being followed.


I think I would send an email and ask why.


They're great; lots in the archives
Yeah, you get bonuses based on your lines per hour rate, for all lines, not just the extra ones.  The past few months I've been able to add 2 cents to my line rate based on the bonuses.  Insurance is about $50 out of my paycheck for just me.

Lots of stuff in archives; go to the page numbers at the bottom, hit Ctrl-F for find and type in WebMedX.

The only possible negative I can think of is ESLs and slightly more difficult work, but if you passed their test, you should be fine.  You're mostly on the same accounts, so you get used to them.

But if you were like the rest of us peons who had to run back every few seconds of footage because you can't understand most of what the dictating clown is saying, whether ESL or native train-catcher or sleepwalker or can't-make-up-my-mind-what-I-want-to-say, Ah...Hmmmm...Scratch that!...Let's see, ..uh...where were we.. uh... zzzz (yawn) zzzz.  And then they race through the labs & medications 78 RPM.  But they're God's chosen people while we can't miss a comma...QA gets p..... off if we send too many blanks, well, I hope you see my point. My hat goes off to you!

Call them. I have lots of work, had lots of work
during the holidays too.   I don't know who routes the work, but one of the office people is on vacation this week.   I occasionally have to call to get work depending on what hours I'm working, but I have never not gotten work when I've asked for it.  
Lots of promises, no follow through. Lots and lots of internal sm
problems. She is recruiting heavy right now as she has a CHANCE at getting a big account back. Even if they get it back, they'll blow it again from poor management.
Lots of work here too. I cannot figure out which accounts have no work.

Great place to work. LOTs of work and (sm)
as the other poster noted, somewhat flexible.  Make your lines and they pretty much leave you be.  Communication is great, QA is great.  The platform is extremely easy.  There's plenty of work to go around and then some. 
Escription has been out of work. Dictaphone has lots of work.

Tu-Sat with the 24-h window for the account I will be on. Other than that, I believe it is Tu-Sat or Sun-Thurs

and will be starting a new primary shortly.

I find they are extremely cooperative in helping their MTs meet their needs.

I got bored and tired of MQ not ever having any work, and I have found 2 part time positions that allow me to work whenever I want so long as I can get the required lines within a certain time frame. So far, I have worked for one platform for one month and the other for 1 day and already I am averaging more lph than with MQ. Think DocQScribe stinks maybe? Then add to that the time it takes for that stupid Etime logging baloney. I can't believe it took me this long, but it seems pretty plain to me.

Lots of companies overhire probably because they need the work done and there are always a few MTs who have issues and don't work regularly or don't do their committed lines, so they hire more to make up for it.   It is possible they may be offshoring too.  You can ask about the company here and if they are offshoring someone may know.  Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about either situation.

once in a while, it does run out but not for very long and it really doesn't happen that often.

I get e mails once or twice a week from my account work flow coordinator (that are sent out to everyone) saying that the volume has picked up and anyone who wants more lines and more $$ is welcome to sign on.

Being asked to work all your days off?
First let me state for those who will say get out of the business if you don't like it, I am NOT complaining. I am posing a question to my fellow MTs to see if they are asked the same thing, and how they react. Here's the scenario, no to very little work during the week and then you are asked to work the weekend. This is not your only account and you already work 6 days a week as it is. Do you work your only day off? Of course there are no incentives or OT offered. I don't want to seem like an uncooperative employee but dang, I need at least ONE day off!!
When I asked about less and less work, I was told
that no MDI work is being done by Transcend because they have no access to the MDI platforms / clients. It was suggested that the economy may be taking its toll.
If you're PT you're required to work

8 of your hours in one weekend day.  There's no extra pay for it though.

I would very much like to talk with you and offer my assistance regarding your concerns of overhiring and lack of work. Something must be amiss and I would like to solve your dilemma yet today. We have lots of work, are still recruiting cream of the crop MTs, and pride ourselves on treating our team members fairly.

They do pay on time & have lots of work sm
but I found it difficult to make any money there. They use a Word counter, which is definitely short. Some TATs they have are unreasonable. Because of the way work comes in, your work day could be stretched from 6 in the morning to 9 at night. I like to work with a set schedule, so it was not a good fit for me. They may have different platforms now.
I see lots of mistakes too and I work there
We can look up old reports and I am astounded by some of the mistakes made. Makes me wonder how they even got out of 100% QA. One report for a dictator I knew to be on ASR looked like they didn't even edit it -- it was just a string of words that made no sense.

Have no idea what's going on there, except there is the usual big push for production. Don't know which accounts the Indians are on, but they do have Indian coordinators working the overnight shift; they have given them phony American names, but it is easy to tell they are not from here. I'm getting aggravated with the place but don't want to be a job hopper.

There is lots of work at Transcend!
I've been with Transcend for over 2 years now and have NEVER run out of work. There have been times when work was a little slow, but if you can be a flexible during these instances (usually around the holidays, like all companies in my experience) you will always stay busy. You just have to communicate with your managers and they will bend over backwards to make sure you are working.

I work for a company with lots of work,

I work a second/third shift position and I still run out of work.  I asked for a secondary account probably 6 weeks ago and haven't received one yet.


You can call the MTSO or your supervisior, but they really don't care, the work is getting done and that is all that really matters.

and I didn't really think it would be like pulling teeth because MOST people at Transcend are willing to help when you ask WITHOUT the attitude.  But if you post on the forum like you do here, it's obvious who you are.

What?? they have asked you to work the account but never told you how much your pay is??
Sounds strange to me.. They would make me nervous as that should be the first thing they discuss.. or at least that is what I would want to know right off before I wasted my time with them.
When I was hired, they asked me what work types I liked from sm
best to worst. I have progress notes last. I hate them but get a few every day-type them anyway. Wish I got more op notes but H&Ps and consults keep me real busy.
I haven't but the company I used to work for asked
MTs to take a cut or risk losing the account because the account wanted to go offshore. 
They asked me to work OT every week, NEVER paid
any OT, did not get raise after 90 days.  They said I would but it never happened. 
If it is any consolation, I work at CS too, and I asked Rahul if we would sm

paid on Friday, and he said something like we'll try, so there is still hope.     I hope it is Friday, too, as the coffers are a bit low at my place, but I will be happy to see it on Monday, if that is what it takes.

They have lots O' work depending on the acct.
If you're on an account with terrible sound quality and very heavy ESL, then they have tons of work for you.  If the particular account has no problems with the platform, you can bet there won't be work.  They advertise all the time because they have tons o' work on certain accounts and they have tons o' turnover in both accounts and MTs.
Always ran out of work despite giving you lots of accounts. nm
