the rates, there will be no work for U.S. MT's. There are plenty of hospitals and doctors that do not want their work offshore to keep us all in shoes.

offshore - most companies send
only what their current staff cannot get done or if the hospital specifically demands it - how does this take away from the MT or is it the fault of the MTSO?? I think everyone is angry at the wrong party - - everyone (companies and MTs) do what the hospitals are demanding
No they do not send offshore, but they do give
new MTs a chance, which more companies should do!
Unfortunately, the "many MT jobs" have very low pay rates, and getting lower and lower. nm

My paycheck is taking a definite nosedive since the first of the year due to overhiring. Tired of my supe asking everyone to work OT re TAT, then I can't get in MY 8 hours. Tired of being chained to my 'puter for my entire 12 hour window every single night trying to make 40 hours. Unhappy to find out some of my work is being farmed out to J&J employees and who knows how many others.
All companies "suck" at one time or another.
People that are running these companies are human and they have a tremendous responsibility. They have to satisfy their boss, the account and the MT. How long have you been with FN? How many times has this happened since you've been with them? We're all a little frustrated right now that work is low. We have no idea what the problem is but we have to trust that FN is still looking out for its MTs as it always has. Maybe the company has over-hired, but if it has, then we MTs have to accept part of the blame for that as well. Where were you when the accounts were so backlogged? A company does what it has to do to stay in business and they don't change overnight. A company that cares for its employees as FN does will continue to do so. We just need to ease up and give them a break until we all get through this slump.
Outsouce and offshore are not necessarily the same thing. The
hospital outsources to TT.

well. Overall, I like having work as I have been at places where you had to fight to keep busy so this works for me.

You send the work in using their program, yes. I never ran out of work sm
but I was just working part-time, and this was about a year ago, so things could have changed. Isabelle and everyone seem so caring, it is hard to believe that they would consistently have MTs without work, but that seems to be a curse of the industry lately.

Is there any company out there where you can download work in batches and send back transcribed reports in batches? I can only get dialup and it is too slow to do 1-3 jobs at a time. 30+ years experience, big 4 and Radiology, Medical and Radiation Oncology. I really wonder how much cheaper it is to send work overseas. When you
think about it, IC here gets about 4 cpl for VR and about 8 or 9 for straight typing. Overseas they have to go through a middle man or whoever owns the services and you cant tell me they arent getting a decent cut of the cpl and paying 3 cpl or so to their people. Just my thoughts. I bet the cost is very close anymore to what we earn. I see Delta is bringing its reservation call service back here from India because of all the complaints from US customers. I would expect it is the benefits here for employees that causes a problem costwise for MTs.

Philippines you would not be allowed to work. Americans cannot get jobs in the Philippines because they are saving them all for the Filipinos - don't know if we'd want them anyway but that is beside the point. Doesn't seem fair, does it, that they can take our work away from us and we get nothing in return.

Don't you think we have enough people right here in the US without jobs? Instead of paying a decent wage for an MT, companies get greedy and undercut our workforce of extremely talented and hard working MTs of which a large percentage are single moms.
