In all the professions I have been in, I cannot believe how rude, condescending, and judgmental MTs are. These boards are for helping each other to make wise career choices and sharing our input, not to go around being the spelling and grammar police and making people feel like they don't know what they are doing. I am well respected in my job, have 100% QA ratings and don't belittle other people who make their errors here. I think posters here need to spend less time being rude and more time thinking of how we can all help fellow MTs looking for advice.

I work for two hospitals directly as an employee. Both jobs I got after seeing their ads in the local paper, but would suggest to actually contact the hospitals in your area and inquire rather than wait for an ad.

I work in-house at a local hospital...
And it's been pretty much famine conditions there, too. We're having to use our VH hours when we're called off for lack of work. I don't know where you're located, but I'm in central California. Perhaps it's a nationwide phenomenon for some reason.
Hang in there. The powers-that-be where I work keep telling us it's just temporary (although I'm preparing for the worst).

Most everyone I have worked with is very polite and caring, other than one main person, who I will not mention the name of. She is rude, uncaring, and not suited for her job.

You all have a point. I forget how this at-home thing works. I used to work in-house at a hospital.
and... we got paid extra for working holidays and even weekends and evenings. I am new to this at-home thing and it's pretty disappointing. I think I'm back to the hospital..

You can believe those on this board saying NO WORK at Transtech ! Absolutely true !!
Getting worse and worse every day. They are going to VR at a VERY FAST PACE, which pays so little you cannot survive on the money UNLESS you work 60 hours a week OR are one of the supe's fav's that get the better dictators.
There is always an excuse by TT as to the low work, but remember that doesn't pay our creditors. Work disappears in large chunks when were at getting almost out of TAT (if ever) so it is going somewhere.
TT is turning out to be like every other MT company out there - more and more executives/supervisors to pay and not a single penny raise for the MT -- much less provide work for the MT's on a consistent basis -- not near consistent basis.

07/28/09 for new MTs, FT & PT, all shifts. Are they saying the accounts are UNDERSTAFFED?
Naturally, the new hirees will be gooing and gushing all over this board again about how GREAT their accounts are and how EASY their dictators are.
I JUST WONDER WHAT THIS LATEST, YET ANOTHER HIRING BLITZ IS GOING TO LEAD TO IN ANOTHER FEW WEEKS. Anyone care to predict?  .

I am fairly sure all their accounts still have in-house transcription departments. All mine do. The Atlanta account you mentioned started the same time as my main and always has more work than my hospital, which is an account that has almost completely dried up over the last year. STM states they are saving work for their in-house MTs.
Wow. This board continues to stun me. I don't even work there and feel bad for the owner. sm
I have a few friends who work for Keystrokes and have had the owner do a lot for them. They make good money and she has helped one of them out of a bind more than once. Should my hospital ever outsource, I would go running to Keystrokes.
Why is it ok to attack a person on here? Why must everyone be nasty so often?
It seems that every company has people like you that come on and go on and on. Why? Don't you have anything better to do?
I would hope that there is a way for companies to be warned about so many of the trolls on these boards. I'm sure they talk among each other and know who you all are. At least I hope they do. As a hospital supervisor, I would hate to have you work under me.
