The politics of MT

Could go on forever. Yes, in America we are not expected to give up our time and our lives for nothing. The outsourcing business has truly become a middleman's business. Of course, middlemen are free to outsource however they choose within the law. If someone else will work for little or nothing then they can have it, is my philosophy. We faced the same dilemma in the Industrial Revolution in which women and small children worked for long hours for barely nothing, too, and had the conscience to realize it was wrong at some point. We are a civilized society and employers, including MT employers, must follow the laws that other businesses do if they are to remain an employer-based business. There will always be a percentage of physicians and hospitals that refuse to allow their work to go to near-slave conditions and actually have some regard for the MT, or are afraid of being sued if the medical record is processed in a country where privacy cannot be assured. I'm seeing more and more hospitals hire directly with at-home MT jobs and eliminating outsourcing.

I have no control over any of it but I personally won't work for nothing, nor would I send out to a company knowing those were the conditions of their workers. It's all a matter of personal choice and ethics, I suppose.

My aim was to inform those who are in this position what the law is. Of course, this does not cover IC, but if you are an employee it applies.

Thank you all for your comments, but I would like to say....I really want to preserve my dignity and integrity. There are some very special people at OSi, some of whom are very good friends. I am truly blessed for making those friends. I did my best at my job at QA and for whatever reasons I was fired from OSi does not change that. I loved my job and the MTs and the accounts that I worked on. I only wish the best for my friends that are still there. Losing this job is nothing compared to losing my spouse, so this too will pass. I am tough and I will be fine and I thank you all for your support.
Doesn't seem like politics to me s/m
So if I get banned for speaking my mind...oh well. IMHO people need to start speaking their minds.
On the politics board, I go to the mat with BT, but
This is not some theory she is passing along, but rather her personal experience with her own kids. I will be the first one to back her up on this. Kids socialize much better and much faster around other kids and I too am speaking from personal experience.
They outsource. They use SR. They are big into AAMT and politics. sm
On the up side, their program is one of the easiest I have used.  You get instant feedback on your work.  Their benefits are good.  So, there are pros and cons.  I have seen worse companies; I have seen better.
Take it to the politics board - not interested
