The only reassurance is self confidence

Do you seriously expect answers to that many questions? If this was a paid survey - maybe. I'll give you a general answer to the gist of your line of questioning.
Why do most of us work? MONEY. I'm willing to stick with any job as long as my bills get paid. It is not to my benefit to keep changing jobs and going through the hassles of learning new software and platforms, and starting out again with no seniority and tiny PTO accumulations. IMO, transcriptionists job hop mainly because companies overhire and make glowing promises. Some things I can put up with - the rising costs of insurance, new company policies, requesting me to change my schedule for the good of all. I will grumble, but I will stay. If and when I cannot pay my bills due to CONSISTENT lack of work, or being forced into new platforms where it is impossible to make any money, I will move on to the next company.
Meanwhile I am constantly looking for ways that I personally can improve my production and be the best that I can be, and I don't blame the company if my own personal issues cause my productivity to suffer. Given the option I would stick with my current job forever AS IT IS TODAY. But clients come and go (yet nobody carries on about THEIR turnover), the industry constantly comes up with new standards that rip off the MT, company policies go into effect that whittle away paychecks by reducing line bonuses, glitchy new software is introduced that reduces productivity, new off clock demands that require us to donate unpaid hours, etc. If the companies weren't constantly throwing curveballs like these that for some are the final straw, less MTs would on the move.
I have not been an MT all my career life, and if and when I cannot make a living being an MT, I will go back to coding or find another genre. Yes, working at home has spoiled me rotten and I would really mourn if I had to give it up, but realistically I realize it is a possiblily. It is a hassle to change fields, but I am not afraid because I have portable clerical skills that will always be in demand somewhere, and know I am capable of learning whatever I must to get the job done and keep the paychecks coming.

thanks for the vote of confidence..sm
I just hate waiting...don't know why I'm stressing so much bout this, it's not like I don't have a job...thanks!
Thanks for the vote of confidence. It still would have been
them to have said while I was spending $500 to get a new computer
in order to type their work, that they probably would not have SE
in a couple of months, and just rent a computer until I could move over
to Employee status.
But you know what, when I was an employee they made it impossible to
make the lines in order to be an employee because I mostly crap and was
working 12 hours to get 1000 lines (and I know I can do acute care as
I have done this work for 20 years and had just left a hospital acute care setting where I had no problem making 1200 lines a day.
I'm just about ready to dump this whole thing. But thanks for your
reply. I'm still steamed that in dozens of phone calls my supervisor
couldn't have shared any of this with me. That's what she's there for.
thanks for the boost of confidence...i have been for 25 years and
they offered me a QA job in '95 so you are correct, one was a lawyer, the others were accountants so pardon my faux pas.
This is an issue of an MT not having confidence in her abilities. You can proofread while you SM
type. I've been doing it for years. I only re-read reports that the dictator is extremely nonsensical, can't put a sentence together to save his/her life, or if the dctator just seems like they don't know what they are doing. But other than that, I feel pretty confident that I put out accurate reports. I generally get 99-100% on my QA evals and I'm one the high producers in my department.
I've trained many a Transcriptionist who double, triple, even quadruple check everything they type because they just don't trust themselves. If you are a newbie, I can understand not trusting yourself yet, but generally if you've been doing this for more than 2 years, you should know what you're doing and you should trust yourself. If you don't, then you're in the wrong business. Unfortunately, we are in a profession were we are expected to be both accurate and productive. If you have a problem achieving both, then again you're in the wrong profession.
thanks for the reassurance...c msg
i knew there was a reason why i still have them under my favorites list. i will hold on to this.
Reassurance...
Well, this should help. I actually only had a primary account for a very long time and only recently (a couple of months ago) had to actually request a secondary. This is just the nature of the business. I wouldn't have had to request a secondary, but I had a few unexpected expenses pop up.
She wants reassurance? What reassurance
She has no work and her company is ignoring her for a long time and repeatedly. She wants reassurance from strangers? So you're gonna be nicey nice and reassure her? That's nice?? It sounds like a looney tunes company and obviously, obvioulsy, obviously she should get the heck out of dodge ASAP unless she happens to be independently wealthy and transcribing for personal satisfaction. You're the good guy and I'm the bad guy? Puleeeeeeeeze!!! Take your judgmental crap and falsely reassure some other poor victim. In these scary times, nobody has time to sit around and wonder where there job is and SHOULD THEY BE CONCERNED??? What a hoot!! Yes, I am sorry because I knew I was not responding as the OP probably hoped. She seemed to want reassurance and comfort as we ALL do, but I was the only one being honest to her, which was KINDNESS. None of us who rely on our working income can afford to be placid and in denial anymore. Personally, I don't know that her behavior would ever have been good, but particularly now it is NOT. She should, indeed, be more than concerned. I wish it weren't that way, and I wish I could have given her good news. I am, indeed, sorry that I had to speak the truth. Happy now?
Reassurance
First of all, a big CONGRATS on being hired on at TT. And don't worry, if you weren't qualified, they would not have hired you. They know you can do the job; you just have to remind yourself that you can do the job :-)
Yes, there is a very generous incentive program at TT. I was able to give up 2 IC jobs because I can make more with TT than I could with the other 2 jobs put together. With TT, you're actually able to get a life back, believe it or not.
The people are all just as fabulous as your recruiter was. My QA contact is one of the nicest, most professional, helping person I've ever encountered. They really want you to succeed with TT, not ding you for every little personal preference as the Q does.
I've been around for awhile, to say the least, and TT is the sweetest gig out there for an MT these days. They appreciate their MTs, leave the MTs alone to do their jobs, have excellent communication, and wonderful accounts.
Take a deep breath and the let the Q 'deprogramming' process start. You've finally escaped their evil clutches and are on your way to happiness again, lol!
Feel free to email me if you need more reassurance and welcome aboard. You will ADORE working for TT.
hmm..be careful of your confidence among such greed... who will the team leader be?

People need reassurance
I worked for a very conscientious MTSO at one point (eventually got bought out), but they were lax about communicating with the MTs. Sometimes the manager had to be prodded into sending out an e-mail regarding changes or concerns. Once people understood, the complaining started to decline.
It is scary when the only feedback you get is the correction on your report, or how the account you are on is backlogged, followed by a 'notice' of changes without explanation.
True, some MTs need hand-holding, and for them just send out a daily or weekly update. Mostly though we just want to feel like we are in the loop, not just out here hanging and then freaking out that the world is coming to an end when all that happened is we accidentally unplug our power cord! (Been there!)
She wants reassurance. I wish I could give

She was only offering reassurance, not - sm
touting. I have been with Transcend for 8 years and I can only remember maybe a rare occasion when there was no work, and it was welcoming for me. As far as us having all of MDI-MD’s work; I don’t recall every working on one of their accounts, in fact I have had the same 4-5 accounts for as long as I can remember, and they will give me more if I want it; all I have to do is ask. You may be feeling like MDI-MD sold you out, but give Transcend a chance, it might be better, but you will never know unless you try.
There is absolutely nothing to be worried about. If you need reassurance
call and talk with the owner.
