The ones that came back so quickly missed their ham sandwich, beer and wine....sm.

You left out *eat a ham sandwich* and *drink a beer*. sm
(wink) - Gotta have those!
If you pass, they get back w/you quickly
It's after you get "hired" that seems to take forever. I got my test results in 2 days, a week to hear from the recruiter, a week to get employment package, a week to get receipt of that acknowledged and schedule training, a week to start receiving equipment. And who knows how long before one is released from training to full production. I'm starting to wonder, but my current place is so awful that MQ is a definite step up. Anyway, don't quit your old job if you get hired; wait until you know when you will be in full production.
Oh yeah - cheese and wine! Crackers too?
nm
beer gardens

Musnt't forget people going to the beer garden.

Let me put my beer down and type a response. (sm)
Calling names or making wild accusations is just plain evil.

In my family there are multiple members who do drink numerous drinks per day, but work, take care of their own lives and activities, maintain pleasant demeanors and harm no one other than their own livers. I certainly wouldn't appreciate you calling any of them names either.

Ham sandwich and lung cancer vs 100K. Tough choice.
:)

I have been to SA and the UAE and, let me tell you, there's a lot more respect for the MTs there than in the good 'ol USA.

Westerners are not held to the same standards as locals when it comes to dress and custom. You don't have to wear a full-on face shroud or eat dog or whatever. Just show some basic common sense decency. You'll be assigned an escort if, for some reason, you need to go somewhere at night or want to go to a certain part of town out of the American neighborhood. (Great little market, for example.)

It's like this:

In Hawaii, I hardly ever wear anything but cut-off shorts and a bikini top. And I don't stand out because most of the people I'm hanging out with wear the same sort of thing. But if I was to go to Manhattan and apply at a Fortune 500 company as a receptionist, do you think I'd wear my cut-offs? No. Everyone would say, 'cover up.' And rightly so. I really wouldn't have a problem with understanding, or adhering to, the dress code.

So maybe wearing jeans and a tee in SA would be akin to wearing cut-offs and a bikini top to Wall Street. It's just not respectful or acceptable. But who can't deal with that?

For anyone who enjoys learning about other cultures, and who can muster up the standard level of respect we show to other cultures even in America, I would heartly suggest being open minded to this type of offer. Heck, I'd go if I were 10 years younger. (If just for the opportunity to hang out and party in Dubai.)
Yes, you should run very quickly, it is by
far the worst company to work for.
Very quickly. It's the truth.
I know some people may take a little longer to answer, but honestly, I only experienced that a couple of years ago when I first started. Whenever I need to ask a question, I've been getting answers very quickly, and I know that when someone IMs me, I'm getting right back to them...unless I ran to the potty. :)
Move on quickly...
There are other great companies out there. This really touched me, you sound like a single mom who is trying to just make the best for her kids. I feel for you! I, too, am trying to raise two kids, but work for a great national even though there has been a lot said of that, but they have been good to me. Don't feel like where you are at is the only option. There are many other places out there, just start looking and working at home really isn't so bad! Good luck to you!
they can speak as quickly as they want to? sm
WHAT? That is an insane statement. What is worse than a doc who is racing through his dictations, almost nothing worse in my opinion, it's my pet peeve I think (hides)
Things disappear so quickly
x
This is classic, but I can usually get them to go away pretty quickly!
No matter what they say I respond No speak English. One lady even tried speaking in Spanish, but I just kept saying the same thing. LOL! Yes, caller ID helps enormously too! I do not answer unknown name calls who do not display their number or anything that seems fishy.
I just quickly looked through my info

and I can't find the tuition reimbursement info.  I've not had the opportunity to use it.  I do remember something about the fact that they pay for CMT certification if you pass.

If I can answer any other questions for you please don't hesitate to ask!

Things change quickly, I would look twice -sm
All Type has just done a major cut on their MTs pay rate - major.  At least 80% of their work is done outside of the country and more is being shipped every day.   You are being hired to keep their business moving because many are leaving with the pay cuts and they need you to work while they make the conversion to India complete.  They will need editors to cover the inadequacy of those reports but American MTs can wave so long to their jobs with All Type.  All Type should take down their American flag and fly the flag from the country they support - India.
things can change very quickly sm
so be careful because you might change your tune!
4 cpl could be for newbies or editors. Don't judge so quickly
Consider that service owners have to take the time to edit and provide feedback to newbies and that takes a LOT of time.
Time clock isn't bad. You quickly get used to it. No big deal. sm
I find them pretty flexible, but you do have to work your total required hours.
could you quickly copy and paste your document into another? then
you could just keep adding on the lines in each document to your own master document for the day. Then you would have a line count for the day. I bet you could write a macro to do this.
Is there a good site to get DQS questions answered quickly? nm
nm
I find the lines don't accumulate as quickly, but the atmosphere is GREAT. nm

Giant Red Flag. If that's the company mentality, I'd cut my losses quickly.
nm
Yeah, the timer just starts ticking away while your trying to figure out how to do it quickly

without a foot pedals, and four reports at that. Oh well, guess it wasn't meant to be.

TransTech accounts are ALL very quickly going to VR and pay is half line rate

If you like VR and the pay cut, then TT will be a good fit for you.  If you are experienced and will let someone pay you less than you are worth, then go for it.

Other than accounts going to VR there and MT pay cut for editing VR reports, TT has been a good fit for me.  I am very disappointed in the recent VR pay cuts.

They are changing platforms and cutting our line rate in half as the accounts go live with VR.

With the alleged shortage of decent MTs, which you managers are quickly turning into VR editors sm
You should not be complaining about graphics or colors on resumes.  You should, frankly, be grateful for any applications you get.  The way MTs are being turned into editors for you voice recognition crap is horrible, and you should be apologizing for it.
I completely concur. Find a good one, or move on, quickly. No loyalty involved. The don't sm
have any to the MTS.  NONE of them.
Superior Global-out of Plano, TX..anyone else apply recently, told they were hiring quickly and to
do the testing ASAP..only to do the testing ASAP and then hear nothing. Trust me, the testing WAS NOT hard so I can't believe I wouldn't have passed that part. I followed up with emails as to whether they received my tests back etc..but nothing. no response. I find that rude. Even a simple, Dear John, we aren't hiring you would have been polite than nothing at all..Unprofessional
Looks like you might have missed a
NM
Somehow I missed that.....SM
Was it this week's? For some reason, I didn't get it last week but got it the week before that. I just figured they didn't do one last week...... Most companies do have at least a few accounts on VR but I don't like it. I've been really happy at Amphion the last month and a half and thought I had found the company for me but that's just my luck - seems like at every company things will go good for about 8 months and then things change on you. Hope history doesn't repeat itself here.........
I got both. Were you missed somehow? sm
I did not reimbursed. I had a trial version and they gave me a new unlocking key. Wow. It's like we work for different companies. I think we are on the same account as I was on a conference call about the account when SH was mentioned. I got the cheat sheet instructions and license within a week. You really should call.
You missed it

The poster I was responding to, said that she always gets her 80 hours and her lines WITHIN her shift and that it is an easy thing to do.  I asked how she does it when there is NO work.   I am flexible, I have to be because of the lack of work.  I was asking her to explain to us how she can get her lines and hours in on days when there is no work.  Some days I am practically chained to the computer.

I missed that ad. (sm)

What happened with that?

I thought that it was odd that they were posting on an MT website.

Thanks so much!!

Uh, no. I'd say YOU missed the point.

The first poster said: "You could take someone off the street and that person WOULD be doing the best they could possibly do."  Poster never said "could".  The only way someone off the street WOULD be doing their best is if they got hired.  The other person's opinion about companies not hiring someone off the street is correct in context.

I know for sure that I missed at least 3 questions - sm
They were sound alike words. I was nervous. However, I did very well on the written test and the transcription parts. I was offered a job, that I really did not expect after my verbal test. So, try not to worry too much about it. I think there are about 10 questions. Good luck!
well, apparently I have missed that.
Not a problem, though. Have a great day
you missed my point
poster did not ask who makes really great money. Yes, you are making what you make, yes that is real. To tell the poster that $50,000 year is decent is not realistic. Making $25,000 a year is decent and realistic. Do you understand?
Sorry, I missed the posts below. nm
x
I missed my son in a parade because
I had to work Memorial Day for Medscribe.
Maybe you missed your meds?
Where is the need for all the drama? This might come as a shock to you, but I don't memorize all posts.

But you weren't CALLING MY BLUFF, my friend, because I wasn't *bluffing.* The post about the bet was my attempt at humor, which apparently went right over your head...

No problem with your winning the bet(finally someone older than me!) Send me your name and mailing address via email and I'll be happy to mail you your $1.00!

LOL

P.S. In case you missed it...
I appreciated the information you posted, but I wasn't looking for someone to do this for me.

My style? What really is your problem? I was trying to gauge INTEREST, not pawn off the research...

why don't you put down your dukes for a second and reconsider the (mistaken) analysis you made of my posts.
Granted, I may not be all that, but I can tell you that they have probably missed out on a lot of
good quality MTs by dropping the ball and being so unprofessional.  It wouldn't have been so bad if they would have said upfront that they wouldn't be making any hiring decisions soon. Instead, it was We are hiring immediately, please submit your information as soon as possible. I will follow up with you as soon as I receive your information. So, I did this..and NOTHING..even after a followup email. Ridiculous. They blew it.
I see you missed the point

One more thing that got missed - sm
It does not matter what company I work for or what I make per line. It is what I do with it that makes the difference. One company is not a fit for everyone so what I can do, you may not be able to. What are your abilities? If you think you are a great MT and can't make money, MOVE ON from that company. I always knew within a few hours if I could make things work at a company. If I felt no, I cut my losses and moved on IMMEDIATELY.

Another misconception is that ICs get paid better. Might have been true at one time but not anymore. No one wants to pay much anymore so it is up to YOU to make the best of it. Learn your stuff. I know every MT company out there and thus know the ones to avoid and the ones to consider but if I get in there and it isn't working, I am outta there. Doesn't have to be because of pay. May be their platform, people, work flow distribution. Everything has to work to MY standards. I call the shots, it is MY life. This isn't meant to be snotty but to say I am in control of my own destiny. The companies out there, the majority of them, are run so poorly and could care less about the MT except getting every ounce of work out of them and treating them shabbily. Until MTs stand up for themselves and refuse to take it, it will continue.

Again, learn your MT skills inside and out, gain experience, don't settle. Be your own cheerleader. Stand up for yourself. Let's motivate each other, not tear each other apart.
Sorry, missed one of your questions
Tonya is the lead lead, I believe. Not sure what her actual title is these days. I know she goes around to a lot of clinics and sets them up and gets them going. I'm just really not sure. I'm surprised you didn't talk to her, though I guess you probably came in when we had the recruiter or HR person or whomever.

I don't know. I keep trying to have a positive attitude. This would really be the perfect job if:

1. We were paid for templates.
2. We were given set providers (along with a secondary) of 3-5 people, instead of fishing out of a pool of 20-70. And these providers would automatically be in our queue for our day.
3. There was more communication and cohesion throughout the company.

I don't even begin to see anyone talking about any of these things happening, though.

Good luck to us all, I guess.
You Missed My Point

I think you missed the point of my post.  I would not have been upset had I tested and interviewed with SoftScript and then been turned down.  But I received the nasty email ripping into me, accusing me of being mad because I was turned down, when I reality I had never even had a chance to test or interview.  The email stated specifics topics that were discussed, but I never had that discussion with anyone at SoftScript.  I think they had me confused with another applicant.  That was what upset me.  The recruiter did make a very bad impression with her jumping to conclusions.  I am a good MT with almost 20 years experience in acute care transcription.  To be told that my verbal and written grammar skills are substandard makes it sound like I'm illiterate.  I do accept criticism when it is given fairly and is constructive.  But I should at least be given the chance to fail, instead of just being told I failed without even being given a fair chance.

missed the point
You missed the point.  I am not saying that prideful is not a word.  It simply does not apply to me. LOL!
Missed the madness...
wish I saw those posts since deleted...you're not going anywhere? were you supposed to? Unless you are that recruiter that pisses evryone off when you call them. If it is you, you should really grow up. You cannot keep biting the hand that feeds you. We know you get paid for each person you bring on, but insulting them isn't going to help your cause any. Ever hear of honey instead of vinegar?
point missed
and that is my fault, not yours. I relize that maybe because you probably didn't take HR classes that some of that was lost - probably on most people here. So let me clarify.

Most likely the [transcriber] post was a company's HR representative that has probably never been a Transcriptionist and has no desire to become one. He or She has a degree in business with emphasis on Human Resource so they know how to write job postings and the laws related to HR and other such information that relates to HR and only HR.

The point of my post is that just like someone confusing nauseous with nauseated this HR person confused Transcriber with Transcriptionist.

On a further note, it would have been a fantastic step in a forward direction to apply for this job and gently and kindly point this out to the HR person in the cover letter. Sometimes an applicant stands out because of the information that was provided not just about themselves but also about the company or about something obscure or consistantly overlooked about the industry - like transcriber versus transcriptionist.

Again, my fault this point was missed, I assumed people would know that an HR person probably wouldn't know or care about the difference - and we all know what a-s-s-u-m-e means! :)
Guess you missed
Everyone currently starts sentences with ''but.''  Just as everyone begins a sentence with ''however'' nowadays.  Princess was simply using the shorter form of sentence that is typical today, rather than stringing everything together with commas.  She was not incorrect.
My point was missed
If, for example you quote as low as you attach parameters to it: Clean dictation, x amount TAT, ETC.

This just shows that the client COULD get a low price - and that low price is attached to specifics of each job.

The FIRST question I was asked every time I was called for work was 'WHAT DO YOU CHARGE' - I explained that it was based on the nature and difficulty of the work, TAT, etc., and that I would do a sample dictation and offer a firm quote.

Most people will understand as low as We all see ads for merchandise or services as low as xx - and most of the time we know in advance it's probably not the SUPREME package. Still, it gives someone an idea of where the cost of service will START.
Think u missed the point
We're not objecting to having several accounts, but that's why MQ is so *^&-up; an MT can reasonably tackle only so many accts and make money. We're commenting that MDI STARTED OUT with an MT having 1 or 2 accts and then BACK-UP secondary accounts. That whole scenerio changed. We tried to change with it. Reality is reality; if there's nothing to transcribe we MAKE NO MONEY.

*Oh, p l e a s e, can I have another account p l e a s e?*
How many times do we have to do that? C'mon.
I must have missed something important
I thought there was the question was aked about retaining PT status and that was going to be okay. Who said the PTers are being let go? Aren't a lot of us PT? Anyone know? Been looking when I have time but, dang! I'm not prepared yet with another job...Thanks!
