It is almost impossible to do unless you have MTs that are guiding you. sm
You will not have the know-how about work flow, QA, TAT, etc that is necessary. Find an MTSO that is willing to help you with pricing, pay, etc. We are all pretty much the same. You can email me if you want or try one of the mid-size companies. I am actually much smaller than what you are taking on, with only 28 employees. You might want to partner up with one of the mid-size ones to make it run smooth. Worth a try if nothing else.
Your embarrassment, Cassie Dressler?
The ugliness to which you refer was on the christian board in the form of antisemitic comments that were repeatedly being made. I cannot fathom why you would feel embarrassed by a fellow Jew who was complaining about these antisemitic comments being spewed in the name of Christ!
What a rant
Does it occur to you that there are more than two sides to every story?
I don't think you realize that the group of people who vent here are made up of a variety of experiences and qualifications.
You also made some stunning and inaccurate observations: This 20+ experienced scribe (and no that term doesn's offend me) is not only computer literate but has often found solutions for the 20-something's trying to install a platform on my computer.
I think you had a point about offshoring... but on the whole you have to keep in mind that there *are* legitimate complaints that scribes have - and this *is* the venue for airing them. You don't have to agree with them (all) in order for them to be legit.
well she has a right to her rant. sm
I agree with her and actually these companies are actually false advertising when they say IC status and then tell you when to work. She posted the offer she received from them.
No I don't try and rain on everybody's parade either but you are ripping somebody else apart with your perfection rant and don't watch yourself either.
I guess some folks don't want to hear the truth about these companies OR they feel guilty working for them when they are working as employees but classified as ICs and paying all those taxes.
A rant about CB
Okay, here goes. Please forgive this, ladies, but I just GOTTA get this off my chest........I don't normally say this kinda stuff, but I just have to vent for a moment.
If CB gotta promotion outta this deal, then that is just another item on my list of reasons why I don't like that self-important little turd.
She was my supervisor briefly when I first started out at MDI and she was never good to work with. In fact, she was a total pain in the crack, hoarding the easy work for herself whenever she could.
When she was in on that stinkin' waste-of-time conference call we had the other morning, running her mouth, I just had to sigh. There really is no justice sometimes.
I have to admit, if this Transcend acquisition means that I get to leave CB (creepy beeotch) behind, then maybe it will be worth it.
There...........I feel all better now!!! LMAO!!! Thanks for listening, ladies.
What in that MTSOs rant
made you think SHE had gotten past grade school? Did that sound respectful to you? Power outages happen, cable outages happen, family deaths happen, jury duty happens. I broke my back for someone like her and when the above things happened to me, one right after the other, way beyond my conrol, I got the line about the client wanting me off the account because of three errors in two years. I will tell you this....it was the best thing that ever happened to me. No more stress, no more harassment, no more Harpy. It's a beautiful thing.
Rant: Why do you folks keep doing this
Ugggh. WHY say something like blah blah blah heartache, I'd say no to them. What is wrong with you people. Please say what you mean or say nothing at all.
For heaven's sake!
For my sake!
For everybody's sake!
Maggie, your rant was one of the
whiniest I've ever seen on the board...
Full of generalizations and generalizations...
You epitomize the worst type of MTSO: Judgmental and hard and ready to call the kettle 'black' without first noticing that 'pots' are pretty 'dark' themselves... (in case this is too obscure, you accuse MTs of being whiny/complainers without apparently noting your own contribution in that department).
Try, just try, being a little more fair, less stereotypical, before you post volume II of Long but I had to say it...
Rant: "My normal"
I'm working on a VR account. I could probably make some money if the dos wouldn't say 'my normal'.
HEENT: My normal.
ABDOMEN: My normal.
EXTREMITIES: My normal.
NEURO: My normal.
Of course, the VR system is not capable of inserting these things. It takes me a good 10 minutes to insert this stuff because I have to go through this drawn out process of finding the 'normals'. Ugggh! My check will be peanuts for sure.
Rant plus question about Zylomed...sm
I sent a resume, took a few tests and the man sent me an e-mail saying I did good and he would like to speak with me further about a position. He said he would call that day - he never did. So I waited around, sent another e-mail a few days later and he said he would call me that night - never did. It has been over a week and still nothing. I could have called him myself but it just seems like poor management.
Employers say that they have a hard time finding good, dependable help but we, as transcriptionists, have an even harder time finding a reliable company to work for and that treats us with respect. I have over 15 years transcription experience and cannot find anything suitable, respectful to me, etc. I was with a WONDERFUL company that got bought out by the big T.....so I quit after giving them a sufficient amount of time.
What gives?
Maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

DSL, light or medium
Has anyone used Bellsouth DSL and gone from higher connection down to light and if so, did you notice a difference in the speed? Thanks.
So in light of all of this, Jean, do
They sound a little immature in my opinion. They do frequent this board and say this is a great company, but if they were that busy, who has time for this nonsense that goes on whenever Keystrokes is mentioned on this board.
Especially in light of above poster
Post above indicates there are 3 clauses in their contract where they can withhold 50% of your earnings, which if they exercise that for whatever reason, brings the rate down to A PENNY A LINE.
I think that's an all-time low.
This might shed some light
I don't work there but you do know they acquired the M-Tec MT school about the same time work started slowing down.
Regard deposit
The deposit for the equipment is $250, but like stated before payments are in installments. $25 to $35 per pay period. You should try them. They are a good company to work for. No underlying discrepancies occur there.
With regard to your last sentence (sm)
I bet I can guess who is the scammer and who you are working for now. You are right on both counts -
In regard to SmartMed
what is the eSmartMed curriculum about? Has anyone taken the curriculum courses and gone through the internship, and then hired by them? I am curious about this.
Also KS Question in this regard...(sm)
It is my understanding KS does not pay shift differential, bonuses for working on days off, etc. In other words, if you are already making the maximum lines per day that you can, there is no real incentive to work days off, etc. I may be wrong about this, so it would be helpful if a KS person could confirm/deny this. Have they ever had an incentive program in the past but it didn't work out? Not trying to cause any problems here, just interested....
I feel for you. Glad you saw the light.
I've seen the light., but it appears dim.
The light you're shedding though seems to be in the rose-colored form, which only means to me that you have been among the few, fortunate MTs, that do not have to put up with the rat race this industry has turned into. The day you remove your rose-colored glasses just might be the day you see how things are for the majority of the working MTs out here.
I despise fighting for files, running out of work, never knowing if I can/will get enough work to earn a decent check. It shouldn't be this way, but it is.
Congrats on your cushy job and all the best to you, I mean that sincerely, but your situation certainly is not the norm in this industry, especially not today.
Check out some recent ads asking for acute care experience. Take a look at the line rates being offered. Then remind yourself of everything you are required to know in order to perform your job successfully as an MT. Think about that for a few, then come back to this board and tell us all how you would feel if you were placed in a position to be looking for a well-paying job, and do let us know how you would honestly feel.
Oh, yes, remember that we MT's get to pay our light bills
air conditioning bill, heating bills, phone bills, provide computer equipment and high speed internet, etc., etc.
The office staff get their utilities bill paid for while they work! Maybe they should split the office utility bills among themselves and get a feel of what it is like to be an at-home MT.
Transtech, I do thank you for my paycheck in order to pay all those bills, but we seem to be so underappreciated and are offered less benefits because we work at home -- as compared to the office staff. I thank God every day that He has provided for me another year.
Transtech, please show the number of lines we transcribe on our paycheck stubs so that we have something to compare to and can look at. This is the first company that I have ever seen that does not show the MT the number of lines on the paycheck stub. We have been promised that many months ago, but it has never come to fruition with the new payroll company you hired.
Thank you, Transtech office staff, for being the friendly people you are.
What a hateful post. Hope your rant made you feel better. nm

With regard to insurance premiums, sm
Who would you say has the best insurance to offer, at a reasonable price. I am currently paying about $500 for family coverage per month; that does not include dental and vision. It is probably another 100 a month.
Also, what companies out there provide the equipment; including computer and software?
With regard to that on-site training
Does SS pay for travel expenses, including lodging, meals, etc? Or does the MT have to pay out of pocket?
It has a light touch though. I have had carpal tunnel
surgery and am very picky about keyboards. I was pleasantly surprised that the one they went (Dell) had such a light touch.
Congrats on the job - I think you'll be very happy.
Seeking info regard DaVenture
sorry about my mistake...guess I should pay more attention to how I spell company names...they just might hold it against me!!!!!
Except - if things change with regard to offshoring,
hiring an American union member may be the most cost-effective way to go.
Making offshoring undesirable and EXPENSIVE should also be on MTs' agendas, this coming year.
Regard CC Transcription, Carol Joyce...sm
She has promptly paid my invoice. This matter is closed by me. Please email CC Transcription if you have any questions or problems with anything. I am no longer an IC with her company and if anyone has any questions, please contact the company. Thank you.
I do think it has been light lately, but if you are consistently running out of work try talking to
your account lead and see if there are some answers for you. I have several accounts and don't usually run out, but don't always work on my primary.
Feeling clueless in regard to MT platforms such as Extext, etc. sm
I have always worked with MS Word and WordPerfect. Had my own clients for many years, as well as working for MTSO as an IC. I have never worked on a transcription platform such Extext or any of the other common platforms. I am well versed in working digitally with FTP, TASP, etc. I currently work for a service and continue to work strictly in MS Word and FTP transfer. I worry about this lack of experience with these platforms What can I do to educate myself in the event I choose to go with a large national who uses a MT platform? Quite honestly, I have never even used a shortcut program other than auto correct in MS Word because I have very, very few repetitive dictations, as I type many different specialties and doctors, who each has their own style and format required (mainly teaching and research hospital) Thanks for any ideas.
I can't remember where I first heard this line, but with regard to AHDI.... sm
Remember, the court-appointed psychiatrist is not your friend.
Are you gay or an actor or both, Seymour. No offense but I like a little light humor to make me sm
smile on a day when I have hit the bottom of the barrel.
Posts from last year don't shed a positive light on them, no matter where

What is their policy with regard to weekend work, and do they supply equipment?
Thanks.
No problem :) No matter how long, it is too long for me - I am broke the day after payday. Kids wi
do that to you!
I know that they have worked very hard to make sure that checks are never late and I can say that in the past two years, I have had one problem (2 days late) and in the past 18 months, they have all been on payday and perfect.
I know that there are a lot of hard feelings in MT in general. I also know firsthand (and I am not mgmt) how hard KS has worked to get things going good.
I would not want to walk in an MTSO's shoes for any amount of money, but that's just me. I like to finish my work for the day, forget about work when not working and get paid on payday. I never want the other things that go with mgmt or owning a company of any kind :)
They definitely rip you off with your line count. Figured this out long ago and quit long ago

This post is in regard to the post w/ the heading below
.
What really sucks is that I looked for a LONG, long time -sm
before joining DRC - wanted a highly reputable, not-too-big co. that was LOCAL, and that treated its MTs humanely. I'm very happy with DRC & had planned to stay with them permanently.
Long, long history of not paying...and
similar posts have been made here in the past few months. Everyone thinks they will be different, and then they end up coming back here to warn others that they don't pay.
but those were long, long lines for
most of the reports. You could make more with a 65-character line count.
anyone who has been in the biz long enough should know sm
that summer time is usually slow. This has been my experience, anyway. I'm glad I gave MQ a chance, it's worked out wonderfully!
How long ago were you with them?
And how long did you stay with them? Thx.
well it was certainly not that long ago.
This is just the truth. I think people should be aware of things that have happened. She probably won't have any problems, but it does happen.
How long did it take
after submitting your resume before you heard from them?
Thanks. May I ask how long ago that was
and possibly why you left, issues with company?
how long have you been there.....
are they going VR? How long did it take you to get used to the platform and make decent money after training? Do they doc your pay for mistakes? How is QA. How many lines can you do there a day and is the work consistent, i mean really consistent? Has there been anything that you don't like, if so what? thank you so much
How long have you been with TH?
Can you give specifics on thier benefits?
How long
have you been working for them? IC or employed?
how long ago was that?
Was it recent or before their personnel adjustments?
