The Indians didn't get a raise, but I'll bet the CEO of the phone company did!! nm

got a raise but didn't matter
Once got a 1.5 cpl raise from SPI at my request after a year but then they lost so many of my accounts, I had no work.
Good to know. Didn't know there was a base raise
//
momma didn't raise no dummy!
...the KY version. :-)
Actually, as often as I've gotten the shaft from companies, maybe she did! lol Had to come up with the list in self-defense!
Thanks. Feel free to use at will. Hate the idea of the companies taking advantage of what wasn't asked in the interview. Grrrrr!
I don't think you'll find any work here..unless you have a C-phone...
Not much work here to keep me busy or even make my line requirements.
Didn't you get the phone call?
Even though our cost of living is probably about 5 times that of Bangalore, some genius has decided that compensation should be 'equalized'. That's about as much explanation as you're going to get. At least in my phone call, they tried to say that they conducted a survey of MTSOs and determined that we were way overpaid, so in doing the global calibration, they have determined that we won't be hurt too badly. While no specific mention was made of VR, I'm wondering if that's going to be plummeting down to the 2 cents that we thought must be a joke in a prior posting.

You'll work as an employee, not IC. Need your own C-phone and pay for your own long distance line
s
I didn't get the letter, just a $600 phone bill.
Their unlimited is only 5,000 minutes and you can use that is 2 weeks or less. You need to use a service like Vonage. Comcast and Time Warner cable also have digital phone service. It uses your regular phone wiring, they just attach something on the outside of your house and you use a modem and it is truly unlimited long distance.
If you want to keep your home phone it takes about 2 weeks to get the service. If you want to keep your home phone and just add a new line they should be able to do it in just a couple of days. I have mine through Time Warner and it is $34.95/mo because I also have my cable internt through them. Vonage is cheaper, I think $24.95/mo.
I've only had my service about 3 weeks, but the sound is very good and I've had no problems using it wtih my C-phone. I wanted to keep my same number, but didn't want to add another phone line to keep costs down. I have call waiting but can't get it to work with the C-phone so I got voice mail for an additional $4/mo so I can still get messages even if I'm working.
Thank you. I went to Walmart today, and guess what, they had one phone and it didn't work!. Go

I didn't even receive the courtesy of an e-mail, phone call, etc. sm
I thought the test was very easy. I've got 18-years of experience, sent a cover letter (that I spent an hour on) in addition to my resume and got not response whatsoever. The least an MTSO could do is say, Thanks, but no thanks. Daily applications, cover letters, and testing without so much as an email is beyond frustrating!
I got 100% on the phone interview, and thought the on-line test was easy, but they still didn't h

i'll 2nd that! I'm glad i didn't
listen to all the nay-sayers. But we are even low on work at the moment; don't expect it to last. In fact, they are sending me work from another account right now...
I know. IT'S SUCH A GREAT COMPANY THAT THIS IS LIKE A PAY RAISE.
Not a pay cut. God bless us everyone!
That is MTSO PR b.s. A raise is a raise in line rate. A bonus or incentive is just that. NOT sm
a raise.
I'll bet you'd be in a snit if you didn't get a Mother's Day card, though, amirite?
Same principle...
Would you feel slighted if your children didn't give you a mother's day card? How about a birthday card? Anniversary card? I mean, after all, you shouldn't NEED a mother's day card to feel appreciated, right?
I mean, if you're going to cast your self-righteous stones at those of us who DO appreciate being acknowledged ONCE A YEAR, then please remember this the next time someone fails to acknowledge YOU on YOUR *special day*.
I'm so tired of you judgmental people who can't just NOT post but instead squeal with delight at putting others down. Must suck to be you....
/end rant
Is it safe to ask a company after one year for a raise? Do companies give raises?
Curious
Asking for a raise isn't going to do it. There is a policy for raise increases.
nm
With any company that uses a C-phone you will need ULD.
call the phone company
and tell them they are, in fact, harassing you and ask them how to block their calls. That would seem to be a better way to handle it.
Thanks. I am very rural and my DSL is through our phone company. (sm)
I usually reboot and then if I don't see anyone else posting about it I figure it is probably my internet. Totally impatient person here, especially with all the stuff we all need to do around the holidays.
the company sets the keys - ask your job. It is not the phone.
I have worked on several accounts via C-phone and each acocunt had it set their own way - similar - but not exact. Companies can calibrate each gal differently as well such as not being able to skip jobs, among other things.
ask you supervisor.
company-paid phone bill?? sm
Crazy question, have high speed internet and AOL for my mail. I do not have unlimited long distance. Is there any company for whom you would not run up a huge phone charge, could not do that! Crazy question, I know - but doesn't hurt to ask.
company does not answer e-mails or phone calls
Hi guys,
Just wondering if any of you have experienced this. I use to work for this company full-time. I went to part-time because we were running out of work and I decided to go back to school (because I am tired of this game with having work and then running out).............
Anyway when I dropped to part-time, my insurance was cancelled (which I know happens) but the premiums are still being taken out of my check. I have 2 checks now with those premiunms being taken out.............I have called payroll and left e-mails (this lady never responds)............now I am thinking this illegal...........
Feedback please. I would like to stay on with this company part-time but...........
okay, I'll ask - what company are we talking about?
x
from now on i'll go straight to the company website. sm
i didn't realize a simple question would stir up some negative comments. i find the comment about the IQ very insulting and unnecessary.
A great company You'll be lucky to get in though,
Work is slow right now like it always is near the holidays. They have extremely affordable benefits, and once you are established there, they seem like they are willing to work with you if you need to change your schedule.
I hope you'll share the NAME OF THE COMPANY
I know I certainly wouldn't want to make the mistake of ever applying for a job there!
My (different) company gave us that "you'll
2 years later, I'm less productive, not more, on that godawful, 'new-and-improved' platform.
It is an Indian run company. If you'll check the archives they
have been asked about several times the last month or so. There has been nothing good said about them.
You'll be hard pressed to find a company
that pays hourly and allows you to work at home, that just isn't the way the business works. I'm not saying that those type of positions don't exist, just that they are extremely rare. Now if you worked on-site that is a different story.
First rule, never work for a company who says "I'll pay you when I get paid." sm
This is unacceptable. Any company with a decent client base gets paid at least net 30 days. I previously operated a small service and paid my subcontractors twice monthly despite being paid net 30 days by my physician groups. Yes, it was a hardship for me, but I brought those who worked hard to help me maintain my service first. Any company who pays their workers when they get paid, does not deserve to employ others. Plain and simple there is no excuse for this. Please, please find a company who values your work instead of using you.
Worst company to work for. Read the archives and you'll
be hard pressed to find anything good about this company.
When a company tells you you'll tripple your line count
x
Didn't even know there was a company by that name sm
Couldn't even find a website for them.
Indian company. If you'll search the archives lots of info
on them.
Worked on C-phone for 10 years with 1 phone line
nn
Well you probably didn't reply to the company
but to the scam artists.
BEST ADVICE is not to respond - you don't owe them one if you didn't apply and their contacting you in the manner they did is all you need to know something is fishy
Yes it is, but they didn't state the name of the company
.
I didn't say the company was reputable. (sm)
It's one of the larger companies that used to be the apple of MTStars' eye until it started to offshore. They would vigorously defend this company, and now -- nothing.
It's a big company, so I guess in some people's eyes, it's reputable. When it was offered to me, I thought it was disgusting, and to me, the company lost all credibility.
They hired another person to work on my account (a former employee of the customer), and when they told me I typed too fast for the account and that the new person wasn't getting many jobs, I finally had it and quit, never looked back and never regretted it.
I found a much better, much smaller company that I believe wouldn't tolerate this kind of behavior. Bigger isn't always better.
Archives doesn't mean it is old info necessarily. If you'll go to the main company page, typ
JLG in the search box, make sure the MTStars circle is checked and click on search you'll find lots of current information. This is considered archived information but there are posts are recently as last week there.
Yes, so that those who didn't see the post on the Company board may see it on the
Main board. What's wrong with that? Isn't that ok to do?
Been there. My company didn't treat me horribly
but because I could do the very worst ESLs I got dumped on. Work is assigned by the company and there isn't supposed to be cherry-picking, but there obviously was. I could do the dictation, but it slowed me down considerably. On top of the bad dictator it seemed the sound quality was also bad. I would be stressed at the end of the day and end up with a headache. If I were getting paid by the hour I would have still be a bit stressed, but not as much because I didn't have to worry about producing lines. My MTSO has told me a couple of stories too. I have looked for another position a couple of times, but every company that offered me a position didn't want to pay me what I was currently making, didn't allow me the flexibility that I have, didn't have the friendly platform that I currently have, and I had to be connected to the internet to work the whole time. I like to get outside when the weather is nice and with my current job I download my work and then I can get off-line. I can take my laptop outside and work. I still read the job boards on occasion, but I have decided I can't do any better anywhere else, so I'll just accept whatever issues there are and deal with them.
boy i'd never work for a company that didn't pay for training
-- that ought to be illegal -- as long as you are working, ie, training, you should be paid!
Wondering if we didn't both apply to the same nat'l company (sm)
Did your response read something like this?
We have reviewed your application and testing in respect to our current staffing needs, and have decided to pursue other applicants. We wish you the best in your current job search. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If you would like to retest, please feel free to do so after 90 days.
didn't ask about your company, schedule or paycheck.

C-phone - I purchased a c-phone from someone in Oklahoma but never got it. *sm*
First she told me her grandmother died. Then she told me she mailed it. Then she told me her daughter was having chemotherapy. Call me naive, but I thought she was sincere and cannot imagine anyone using their daughter as an excuse. If this is the same person from Oklahoma, I sure would like to know about it because now I want my money back.
A company sounds strange because you didn't pass their test? SM
I LIKE working for a company that puts quality over everything else.
The company I worked for didn't offer direct deposit. nm

Didn't they partner up with an Indian company? Expect downhill from Dictaphone.
nm
I didn't take the posts as trashing the company, just people venting about no work. sm
I used to work for TT, and yes, they are wonderful people -- very caring and supportive -- but in order to get my lines in, I had to be VERY flexible, working on my days off, during times I wasn't scheduled, etc., and it gets old pretty quickly. I personally didn't care for the e-mails calling me sweetie or telling me you rock, but that's just me. I just want to be paid well and have plentiful work. I do not know if they just overhire or what happens, but I finally left because I couldn't stand the feast or famine work flow there.
