Lou Dobbs
I would also send it to Pat Buchanan. He is very much against off-shoring and he has connections EVERYwhere. This would make a great human interest story.
How about Lou Dobbs?
If there's anybody who loves a chance to show the perils of offshoring, it's Lou Dobbs and he has a large following. You could also try Fox, but I think despite the label of being for the everyday Joe, they are very pro-corporations and so instead might turn in into an attaboy for the MTSOs, but you never know.
Lou Dobbs
Maybe his memory needs to be refreshed. A couple years ago, maybe people were not as aware....I myself in the last 2-3 years have had my eyes opened to many things by watching Lou Dobbs and the world around me.
I think people take Lou Dobbs far more seriously...
Watch Lou Dobbs on CNN. sm
He talks about offshoring, Americans losing jobs, how big companies use/abuse our Visa programs to get cheap workers, etc.
He's on every weekday on CNN. I watch his show about once a week. It's very enlighting. (I can't watch him every day though, it's too depressing...) ;o(
Suggestion - send this to Lou Dobbs at CNN
NM
She's right about sending the letter to Lou Dobbs...
After thinking about this, I realized there are probably several private physicians in Toledo who send their work overseas. My friend here in a smaller town south of Toledo lost her job several months ago doing dictation at a local Cardiology practice. One of the Indian physicians convinced the other partners that his friends in India could do the transcribing much cheaper. Someone else posted further down about offshoring going on even in the smallest towns in America and that is absolutely right. Your letter would get much more exposure and be taken more seriously with someone like Lou Dobbs at CNN.
I just emailed Mr. Dobbs with a partial list of MT companies
that outsource that weren't on his list. Thanks for the link!
Also doctor lists
They can be a nightmare
Black Lists?
No, I don't believe there is such a thing. Then, do companies talk to each other about former employees? Yes, sometimes that happens. It's simply the course of doing business. It's called a network and often called checking your references.
As for recruiters not knowing each other, at any given AAMT meeting there will be 5 to 20 companies exhibiting, each with their recruiter there. Of course they get to know each other. It is, again, about networking.
I am curious, though. If MTs can create a blacklist for companies, what would be wrong with employers doing it??
Tons of lists, etc.
yes, and it seems like a lot of paperwork, wondering if I should go ahead with this company or not! What do you think? amj
It looks like 2 different lists, 2 different schedules.
Schedule 3.13(a) hereto contains a complete and accurate list of all employees (including statutory employees) of the Company who for the year ending March 31, 2009 were paid annual aggregate compensation in excess of $35,000, showing the position, annual base salary and bonus potential for each such employee.
Purchaser shall continue the services of the employees of the Company following the Closing except for the individuals listed on Schedule 6.11 hereof who shall be terminated at or shortly following the Closing.
It appears that there are going to be some that are terminated at or following the closing. Is that tomorrow or January 1, 2010?
Do they have an ad up somewhere? Many places on old lists aren't around any more. nm

Portability of expander lists
When you switch platforms, it raises the question about portability. You don't want to lose the work you put into making your list(s).
One solution is using Instant Text. The glossaries that come with IT, the ones you create with IT, and the lists you import to IT from other Expander programs, can be used in most platforms you may type in.
Marianne
I'm linking to page w/company lists (sm)
I have heard of managers etc who have taken lists of employees
for their company when they left and contacted them announcing that they were with the new company and telling them to write them if they were interested in positions.
It definitely IS unethical but yes it does happen.
Someone who values their name in this industry would not do this. People do not want to work for someone who resorts to underhanded tactics. Too many people do this. Those who care about the business practices of any company or manager would not condone this. Just ask yourself this question, if they would do that, would they hesitate to give out personal information of the MTs who they have done this to? I personally think if they are unethical in one area, they would be in another. I would avoid any company or person that would do this.
Is this doc lists and addresses or MT-specific stuff? nm
s
And a lot of the lists are made up of companies that pay to be on the list. sm
I think your best bet is to either go with someone who is well known or go with a small company if you know someone who works there.

Another one I passed through a few years ago. Didn't suit me. They are/used to be big offshorers.
