That is *.11 for all lines typed* when working agreed-upon schedule.

Posted By: Tired on 2008-03-23
In Reply to: I could make .11/line no matter how much under old system, only .1075 now unless over 11K/period. - Tired

Making less per line is not a raise.

It usually is 10-12 lines typed per minute of dictation. nm

11,000 per week editing lines, 5,500 straight typed.
Don't know how much it is for husband and kids. $70 a week for me and two kids.
Agreed!!. They know exactly how they want those lines counted. That is why you hear people saying
that they averaged 200 lph at one company and switched and now get over 300 lph. It is all in how the counts are set up. Sounds like Transtech people are getting a bum deal. There has to be something to it because A LOT of people have complained. If it were randomly a person here or there I could understand but there are way too complaints not to be valid to some extent.
Agreed. I also got a nice Christmas bonus working for a tiny private practice. sm
In a smaller office you're seen as an actual person.
Working my schedule..PLUS some.
I DO work my schedule. I'm asked for more so I do more.

And yep, I work in Dallas/SW office, too.

Question about lines and schedule ...
If I get my lines done before the number of hours I am scheduled to work, do I have to finish my hours? Can I just stop working at that point?
Not working that schedule, but because they have people
working that schedule two days of my shift I can't get even half my time in and then even if I work my off days there isn't enough work to make up for the shortages those 2 days.    I already work what seems like 12-hour days just to get in 7 hours with that stupid clocking in and out.
Are there any companies out there who let you get away without working your schedule?

I'm looking for a second job.    I could use some more $$$, but I think I would prefer to work for one that's laid-back.  I heard of one once but have no idea what its name was.

MDI-MD has SE status, commited lines/day, and own schedule

MDI-MA does not require a set schedule- you do your required lines in 24 hours. nm

Question about SoftScript. Strict schedule, can you quit when you get your lines? (sm)

I saw a posting before that said you were good to go as long as you signed in on time and did your lines.  Is this accurate?

Also, I have seen they are offering 7 cents per line regardless of experience.  Is this still true?

Anyone know what full time is at Transtech? Lines or hours? Do they flex schedule? nm

185 lines? The company I'm working for wants 250......what is the average???? Anyone???
Thanks!
Been working almost 2 months now and almost at required lines. (sm)

Taking me longer to get used to program than I had anticipated.  I know we have 90 days to actually make the grade, but am getting slightly worried.  No one has called me on it, but I am sooo nervous.  I am not a newbie, but maybe I am getting too old to learn new programs/etc.

Of course, checking the boards while I am working is not exactly helping me. I realize that and am only doing so on breaks now.  Any helpful hints?

Is there anyone working for Keystrokes that has not been able to get 12,000 lines per pay period? sm
If so, how is that handled by the company?
been working a split shift for a month just to try to maybe get my lines in
Which is slowly draining the life from me. I can get their minimum NO problem at all if they provide steady work. However, it trickles in now and most of the time I have to wait between jobs for work. Also really tired of their dumb e-mails patting us on the back because everything is in TAT. Well, with not enough work and too many MTs, what do you expect?? I am heading for the way out pretty fast!
I've been working 5 hours and it is still only showing 250 lines. It will
come up eventually correct, but seems to take forever.
If you are doing 2400 lines in an 8 hour day, working 5 accounts +, running out of work on all 5,

then pray tell us how you are doing it.  I certainly would like to share this with MQ because I also have done this many years, know my work, and there is no way to do 2400 lines because most days all the accounts are out of work.

listening

They want you to keep your schedule for TAT purposes but will work with you to find a good schedule
I love working there.
Typed in the USA

To be honest, I was not 100% serious when I posted about starting up Typed in the USA.  But the response from people is so unbelievable that I am starting to.  I'm trying to write back to everyone who wrote to me.

Do you think the trend might be starting to reverse from the cheap foreign services?  The doctors are realizing that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Duh!  And many transcription companies (not all because there are terrific companies too) are losing good employees who want to be paid fairly and treated well.

Look at all the sign on bonuses being offered in the Want Ads and the same companies posting over and over.  There must be something wrong if you are willing to pay so much for new hires.  I have never run a company so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I would try giving that sign on bonus to the good employees you already have to make sure they stay and produce.  Then maybe you have to hire less trainers, managers and overworked QA people because your employees stay longer and are motivated. You therefore have less overhead.  Hiring more people at lower salary to save money might be a kind of trick that companies play for their stockholders or whatever.  They can say look how little we spend on payroll while they are actually losing money in the long haul when quality goes down and they lose clients. But eventually the piper has to be paid.

Anybody see the movie Wall Street with MIchael Douglas?  That movie is SOOOOOOO right about what is going on today.  CEOs, instead of investing in their communities, became vultures.  They would destroy a company to make money for a few backers and then the workers and community would be left to die.

Sorry to get a soapbox here!  I'm transcribing orthopedics and my mind is wandering!

I don't know when she typed them
.
cpl - I have never typed for
I have never typed for anyone that required a line rate. Mine were always minutes.
I actually switched from a M-F schedule to a S-T schedule...sm
because of the financial situation.  I was offered a lot better money to work this schedule on a particularly picky account.  I can live with working on Sunday evenings because that is when my 2 teenage kids, also very active in sports, band, church, driving, dating, social life, etc., etc., are vegging on the couch, relaxing for the evening before it all starts again.  It was worth the sacrifice to me to be able to afford all the activities, and it really is not much different than working the M-F shift.  I do have Fridays off to kind of catch my breath while the kids are at school or go and take care of business.  I do not feel I have given up any of my life to work on Sundays.  Most companies will be flexible on the schedule for Sunday because of church, family dinner, whatever.  The way I look at it is later on, I may be able to switch to a M-F schedule if I am willing to give a little now.  Even if I don't, to me it was worth it for the extra money and mommy time I get on Fridays.  I am widowed so I do put a lot of time into my kids.  This is just what works for me.  On the other hand, it is ok to only want to work M-F, there is nothing wrong with that.  You have to do what is best for you.
That is funny because I typed in
DocuMed and it came up the very first response. Also, you can type comments on DocuMed in Google and it will show old postings from sites such as this one. I would like some info on them, too:)
The NPs and PAs I've typed for said
things like erythromy-A-cin and digoxacin and larNIX and pharNIX. So are they illiterate/dyslexic? We all know they're reading it from the chart. Amazes me.
OH I can't believe I typed "I was do." I'm so ashamed!!!

I KNOW you have to send it out as if you typed it yourself (sm)
My question wasn't whether I had to send it out at a 98 to 100% standard. My question was whether all of you VR lovers actually do that. I can't in good conscience send out work that is less than my best, but by the same token, I can't figure out how to edit the VR crap fast enough to make a living.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET????
I realized it after I typed it :)
nm
I have typed oncology only.....
for at least 10 years.  Of course, in my opinion, it is easier to do this because when doing clinic work you have less doctors, less work types and such as that.  For me, the pay is the same as any other MT.  I love typing oncology though and would hate to have to go back to acute care.
Yes, typed 3 voice files
The recruiter gave me three voice files and I had two hours to return them.  Not bad, one was kind of hard.  You only have to fill in the blanks, not transcribe the entire report.  Just like doing an edit.  From the time I applied on-line, got a call from the recruiter and tested and then offered a position was less than two days.  They sent me an equipment package and paperwork, I trained and now I am working my way through the three week full QA process.  Nice people so far, I am very happy with Medware.
Ugh, I have typed face lifts before. sm
No way would I want that spoon elevator peeling my face off the muscles and then wrapping my head in gauze. So gross. I'll take the wrinkles any day.
Tssc pays for everything that is typed sm
So if you type a patient name, dob, or dos, you get paid for it.    TSSC works for some people,  for some it does not.
I've heard and typed that before.
I don't really see the humor, it is just technical terminology. Just my opinion.
I like Typed in the USA, but I would make it Transcribed in the USA
It's longer but better description than typed, at least I think so. Good luck!!!
review typed reports

The only way I know to review reports already typed is they go to QA for anything.  Of course, when new, the MT is on full QA.

It sounds like the OP is wanting as much info on DQS as possible, so here are a couple things I don't believe I saw in this thread.

Keep in mind that as new accounts are started, there will also be blanks left, usually for demo things, landmarks, etc., so that is a big help, too.

Bravo! Your message should be typed and placed on
But most importantly, of course, on the desk of every MT company CEO across America.

Greed is NOT good. It's why our entire economy is in the mess it's in today.
Probably typed by templated machine -
I seriously doubt the tech of the physician himself. The company I used to work for also had this and it was a templated program that typed out the report (in other words, VR).
Also wanted to add, if they want spaces typed, they
dang sure better pay for them!
All questions are being TYPED; everyone is on mute. nm
.
Agreed, but

Respect and invite your opinion.  All sides should be heard.  That is my point.  Responsible journalism tells BOTH sides.  My belief is this was done by RBJ.  I'm not relishing in her problems, just satisfied that the whole story is available.  Period.

This may have started 15 years ago, but as of 1999 charges and apeals were still pending when settled out of court.

I agree with many points you made about our economic condition here, and changes need to be made by positive role model companies.  I recognize the fact that you had positive encounters with Execuscribe ---  by newspaper archives I believe you sold your transcription company to her in 2003 (per press release dated 5/1/03), correct?   You had a good outcome and business opportunity.  The rest of us have not had that opportunity and can only assess by other information available.

All I am trying to point out is both sides of story is responsible reporting.  How can you make an informed decision without both sides??

Agreed!

Agreed
I could not agree with you more. THEY are the problem for sure. I think you should move on. There is plenty of work and many other companies. Also, the person who said maybe she is sick, that's a cop out because certainly there is more than one person there who could answer you. Try Sten-Tel, they are very nice and reliable. Wish you luck!!
Agreed
A client may have their own formula This has nothing to do with the way a company may count lines, something they don't have control over. As well, many accounts have normals that you simply insert. Who couldn't rack up the lines at that rate. I think the real answer here lies within the line rate that you contract for. Perhaps these people that are very happy are making more per line than others. We know that everyone is paid differently. I truly think this is where the descrepancy is. Just assume that line counts will not be what they were way back in the day and ask for a higher line rate and everyone will be happy. If its too low, say no thank you and go to the next one. I guarantee you, you will find someone to pay you what you are worth.
Agreed
You are so right. Thank you for this enlightening post:)
Very much agreed!
This is not a private board for just strictly MTs. Anyone can come on here and post who is in this industry, management, recruiters, MTs, etc. Before someone accuses me of being management or a lead, I am not. I am just an MT who is very happy with my company. If you don't like what someone is saying on here, then IGNORE IT!!!

As far as fax machines, as the above poster stated, they are VERY inexpensive. I for one bought 2 brand new fax machines on ebay last year for a total of $30. If you are going to complain about something as stupid as spending a dollar or two to fax something, then that is just ridiculous, and that probably means that you will pick out any little thing to complain about at every company. Besides, who wants to wait for days for something to arrive in the mail when you can fax something instantaneously???
Agreed

Agreed.
And then when you finally get all the weird rules straight in your head, they send a message not to do it that way any longer. !
Agreed. Well said. NM

AGREED!
I totally agree, it would be great to add this experience to my 15 years of clinical experience.  Do you have any suggestions for resources I could purchase such as Stedman Word Books etc. to learn surgery terminology and medical equipment names?  These are the things I struggle with the most - the terms used in surgical procedures and the names of all the clamps, instruments, sutures, etc.  I need some good reference material to help me out I think.  Any suggestions would be appreciated as to what I should buy or any online sources you know of.  Thanks!!
Agreed
They are horrible, zero feedback, consistently change/add your accounts and do not pay well and somehow always manage to come out on top in the cpl/per report pay no matter what?
