That's what kills me.....sm

Ten years ago, I originally was a self-employed Transcriptionist at home with about 5 different accounts. It's wonderful if you're willing to live with the feast-or-famine of it all, and I was in a position where I could do that. It was perfect. But one of my accounts (oral surgery) liked me a little too much and after four years of just transcribing for them, they offered me a chance to do some surgical work in there, sent me back to school (how could I turn that down?), made me full time with benefits, and before you know it, I'm only doing their transcription a couple hours a day and assisting with general anesthesia cases the rest of the day. That has now HURT me because every company that looks at my resume sees 'patient care' even though I totally downplay the surgical role and just sneak it in there on one line. They assume I'm not a 'real' transcriptionist and don't seem to be looking past my two whole years of surgical experience to see the ten years of transcribing experience in multiple specialties. My skill set seems awfully varied - that's what a lot of companies have implied. Bad choice for me to expand my horizons apparently!
