I've been thinking the same thing.
I stayed with the Q too long into the downslide. You are so right, it has a familiar smell. I cannot see myself doing that again. Just don't know if there are any more decent companies out there.
A lot of people here are thinking I am
misconception.
I keep informed about all the companies, who does what, IC versus employee. I am a well-informed potential employee. I am very good at what I do and I will only work for the best. In my thinking the KS post wasn't the best of the best. Perhaps I spoke out of turn by believing others should think more highly of themselves and their value as employees. I've been in every position one could work in the transcription and health care industry and this seemed somewhat demeaning not just to my own value but the value of MTs as a whole.
As it turns out now, they offer more than they orginally posted but would you have gotten that information if teeth weren't pulled? If you want it, you CAN have it. Why do MTs have to settle for crumbs when the crumbs keep getting smaller? There ARE companies with better benefits out there. How KS treats their people, well, I certainly cannot speak to that but in the last few days the company I take pride in working for has taken quite a beating on this web site and they treat me extremely well.
And the point is...I reciprocate. I want to be considered one of the best MTs where I work and I often go above and beyond. It is mutually reciprocative and it sure ain't for crumbs.
Yes it did get people thinking, but it was
also unprofessional to go on flaming someone. I don't want to start something with anybody, just pointing out to RadMT to be nice.
Definitely harder and I've given it a lot of time. I'm thinking about

That is exactly what I was thinking. What is sad is that people want to know where these places are
so they can apply there too. If you'll notice, no one has ever came back on here and said thanks for giving me the information because they are not for real. If anyone could make that editing on ANY platform wouldnt we all be working there. So, thanks for the enlightening and given the people who really believed a reality check.
Why not? One of the few posts that got people thinking
x
I'm thinking economy and people just aren't having elective surgeries or (sm)
going to docs and really think twice before heading to the ER. I put off my son's braces for a while and just made the appt this week after going for his consult a year and a half ago!! I know how you feel though; it's hard not to be paranoid these days!
I've tried to tell people as well
transcribed by MTs that are not in any way educated enough to document correctly the happenings in our medical care, and the response I get is oh yes, that is happening everywhere even with customer service for most companies. So you see? Not many are really that worried about it.. It is a sad state of affairs.
I've gone after people just as vigorously for only
Money owed is money owed. Doesn't matter if it's $10, $125, $5,000, or $50,000. If you do a service in exchange for payment, and you live up to your end of the bargain, if someone thinks they are so cunning that they can get around having to pay the money that is due, then they haven't met ME, yet! I went after a guy for $125 once, and I had the SHERIFF IN THE YARD, ready to allow me to take possession of their brand-new Ford F350 dually pickup truck that I had attached through Small Claims Court. Needless to say, rather than hand the officer the truck keys, they handed him $125.
I've gotten emails from people from this list
They were welcome. I never saw anything wrong with it. Just don't reply. You might make some new online friends.
U don't need to worry - half these people sound like they've got -
.
I've heard the pay isn't that great, nice people tho. NM
:
I've feel for the same thing and tired of dishonest people.
My favorite was when a recruiter would actually do all of her recruiting by pretending to be an MT. She went to great length singing the praises of her company, even though others were badmouthing the company. She was very convincing until I put two and two together. Actually, she wasn't too smart. She private emailed me from the board as the MT saying that she would contact her boss to recommend me.. Well, though and behold her boss and her both had the same email. Now, do I look like a moron or what. So, honestly, I rarely trust those cheerleaders on here and just take it with a grain of salt because you never know who your talking to.
RE: I've been with Transform for 2 months and so far, so good. Nice people to work with, (sm)
pay is on time, direct deposit, etc.
I've been following your story because I find it disgusting the these MTSOs stiff people
and get away with it. I find it awesome that you had the courage to stand up to her and send this notice to the hospital. Why shouldn't they know what liars and thieves they contract to. A lot of business out there that subcontract, especially hospitals, are even running background checks so they know how they are dealing with. I'd file a complaint with BBB, Department of Labor..anywhere I could to get her bad name out there and hopefully if she does try to solicit more business she won't be able to. Again, I applaud you!!!! Good work!!!!
At first I was thinking that you were being unrealistic, not thinking about taxes, benefits, etc. bu
surprised to find that you are not asking the moon. Let me clarify a few things: Rates charged are not as high as 0.25 per line, but no one that has U.S. employees goes as low as 0.115 or they would not be able to pay their bills. A more realistic range is 0.125-0.165, and that top end is hard to find, most falling at 0.14-0.15 per line.
The rates of pay you propose are very reasonable IF the following is true: These are seasoned MTs who do not need a lot of hand-holding, QA or blanks filled in, unless a very difficult/impossible doctor.
How about a scale based on experience and accuracy of 0.09 - 0.105 per line (acute care), and $1.15-$1.30 per report (radiology)?
The VR one is tough as everyone, MTs and MTSOs and facilities are still feeling their way on this. As an MTSO who was an MT, I feel that VR editing is as difficult to do as regular transcription. I don't think that it should be substantially less pay or charged less as the end product is still the same.
Funny thing here? My company already follows that scale. We should work together, not at odds, to reinforce this industry and bring it back to where it should be, right here in the U.S.A. with a decent paycheck.
What good does it do? They've lied, they've betrayed us.
They've taken all they are going to take from me. I am not going to waste any more time being angry. I hate the way things ended, but I refuse to accept the blame for any part of it because I know that was a lie too, even though they did try to blame the MTs. I know part of the problem was quality issues, but QA wasn't to blame for that either, although they have been.
It is time to pick up and move on. I think mgmt will reap what they sow. For those who worked on the main account Webmedx is still hiring, though the best time slots have already been taken.
What the heck? I've never heard that in the 8 yrs I've worked here. sm
Go back to your STM or over his or her head.
People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check
after insurance deduction. Maybe your bank is holding it. Maybe anything! But we GOT PAID. This is NO LIE. And I am sick of this board. Nothing but disgruntled exemployees arguing with employees who like their job. Ugggg. I am working. BTW: THERE IS WORK (clears throat) remember that? Work?
Keystrokes is wonderful!! They are the nicest people and care 150% about their people!!
Excellent company!!!!
I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances. It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company. They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!! Never seen anything like it before.
Since you've brought it up, I've stopped SM
giving the negative info because every time I have in the past I am called a disgruntled ex-employee or told that my experience has no relation to what the company is like today.
I won't repeat the information I've given in the past, anyone can find it on searches. I've decided to just let the people have their experience with the company and that experience will validate everything I've ever said about those people.
The same people own and run that company--they may have new names doing the management, but it still runs the same way.
You've got it ~ you've hit the nail on the head....
I can Google until dawn and still not find John Smith in NY - you know the neurologist... Cut me a break! I've now learned to ask my online company for a list of referring physicians (since none of the accounts are in my state) and also ask for websites for the hospitals, but I still don't take more than 5 min of my own time to find referring physicians. I send it right through with a verify cc:...
As far as making an educated guess, I would only do that if it was my own account and I know the dictator well. For the online company, it is their responsibility to make that educated guess as it is their client, not mine. I leave that up to the company to make assumptions; this way it is on their back, not mine when it comes to the legality of the report. Ultimately, the physician is responsible when signing that report or there should be clause on those reports that state dictated but not read. If that clause is not there, then it is the physician's responsibility to know the content, not the MT. An MT can only transcribe what they hear and really should not be making educated guesses on anyone since we live in a world of sue-happy patients and their malpractice insurance is so high. If there is a question, it needs to go the dictator to resolve.
JMO - been doing this for over 20 years.
I've been a QA 15 years and I've never heard
of any company only paying for the actual Keystrokes of the blank. You would literally make less than minimum wage that way. Waaay less.
Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people
up there with all the problems you hear about that office. Seems like something is very very wrong there.
I doubt it. There are more happy people than unhappy people sm
at Medquist. I've checked out other companies but I liked MQ the best (I kept working at MQ while testing other companies).
SO right! People who get paid to bring people on-board -sm
to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.
More people will come into VR because the qualifcations to do MT are not the same. Lots of people w
to work at home. It's all relative to what you are used to. The nationals are counting on this. I think MTs will work cheaper rather than reenter the work force with no other skills than MT. The nationals are counting on this.
They named people's names. That is not right. People just sm
need to keep from naming names. I thought it was an informative bit of information, but when you name names, then posts are way out of line.
I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company. I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people. If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession. When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl. If it were me being talked about, I would be livid. I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.
Thank you for saying that. Most people here just love to trash people.
It is against board rules though.
Heartland - we take care of our people people
I meant in quotation marks, not parentheses.
For people at MDI-MD that say they are out of work, I see they are hiring now. Are people still
running out of work or did they get more accounts. I am interested in this company.
Honestly, people some people are lazy...
plain and simple, sad but true.
That's exactly what I was thinking
I didn't see anything about 10 cpl for ESL accounts. Thought I was losing it.
Could you tell me why you think this. I was also thinking of looking into them.

I am thinking that..........
I am thinking this is a former disgruntled employee who acts like they are still employed. According to other posts in the past it seems some on here post info as such. Possibly they are trying to stir something up. Search it out on your own to find out fiction or fact and make own judgement.
i was thinking...
if it was a total of 150 reports and they paid the $3 for only the first page of those 150 and the $1.50 the other 149 pages, that would still equal almost $230/day. Did I do that math right?! Sounds good to me!
that's what I was thinking

Thanks.....that is what I was thinking too.
This is for a hospital

Thinking of doing ASR
I've been an MT for about 20 years - 7 years with MQ. I used to do on average about 300+ lines per hour on my primary and made a pretty decent living. With ASR, I've gone down to an average of about 239 lines per hour. Plus, they pay us about a penny a line less on ASR after you do a 60-day trial. I tried quitting the ASR, but if you do that, all you get is the really crappy dictation, so the ASR becomes the lesser of two evils.
My theory is that, since the ASR system apparently learns as we make corrections, that MQ is going to keeping sending it to us while we teach the system. Then, when the ASR system has learned all it can and is doing perfect work, they'll ship all the work to India and pay them (the Indian ME's) 2 cents a line to edit it.
If I were you and I were making a decent living doing regular transcription with a high line rate, I would not consider ASR. I think the only ones who make any money at the MT's who did not produce huge amounts to begin with!!
I would NEVER recommend MQ. They're all about the bottom line and I guarantee, MQ ASR will be going to India -- just give the machine enough time to learn.
That's what I was just thinking
They sent me an attachment that had a bunch of questions like what version of MS Word do I have, version of windows, etc. They even asked me if I would buy a foot pedal from them for $60! On the top of the attachment, it had my full name and state that I live in. Hopefully I don't hear from them again!
I'm thinking....sm
I have been an MT for 10 yrs. Been on a 5-month break and just recently started hitting the job search more seriously. I've already been off for five months so what's another few weeks (hopefully no longer) when I could just avoid the exasperation of the last couple days and not embark with them at all. Just received an e-mail that they once again cannot locate an attachment I sent them, which I have sent TWICE. This is just too screwed up to even dabble in while I keep looking. They drained me.
that's what I was thinking, too.

Not yet. Thinking about it though
I'm just afraid of change, whether it will be better somewhere else. Things have been okay for me at OSi up until now, but things are changing. Things have gone on the last several months that have really started to take away my enthusiasm for my job there, and now this. There are people there that I really like, and then there's one that has made things not so nice anymore. I've gone places there, so leaving would be a step back in a way, but with what's going on now with the new partners, and with what I know is going on with certain accounts, I just am not comfortable staying here anymore. I think more changes are coming, so I probably should just go now. I just don't know.
Thinking about what I want
I heard back from a position I applied for. The person is asking me about what I want in an MTSO & I thought I'd share:
No micromanagement. I will work the hours I say I will work and if I’m doing so, leave me alone.
I don’t want to hear about everyone else’s mistakes in a nasty e-mail where you threaten to dock everyone’s pay. Address the issue with the individual.
No demanding I work overtime & then being unwilling to pay extra. If you ask me in a civilized manner I will see what I can do to help.
No new and creative ways to rip the MT off. I don’t care about your VBCs. I want to be paid for my time and typing – including templates and spaces.
A company which pays on time.
Low ESL, while I can do ESL it doesn’t mean I should have to do so continuously because everyone else has cherry-picked or they just can’t do it – they need the practice, I don’t. While it’s true I can make money on ESLs because they tend to say the same thing over and over, when they don’t, they are a royal pain in the @ss.
Pay equal to my experience level.
State of the art equipment – No DOS! No cumbersome software wasting MY time looking up patient demographics.
I think I might prefer ER or clinic, I can make more money with those than with op notes, even though they pay less per line.
A company that DOES send positive e-mails and keeps its MTs up-to-date with feedback from the accounts and abreast of latest terms.
Anyone thinking about going IC?
Just wondering if anyone is thinking about it, or is doing so soon?
Exactly what I was thinking....sm
I am so hurt over it and I keep thinking....what am I going to do if this credit check becomes the norm? I will never be able to pay the bills then. Also, I used to be employed by them many years ago and did a fantastic job for them and was sought out by them, tested very well, and then offered a job, did the paperwork, and then apparently kicked to the curb without even letting me know why or the fact that I didn't get the job afterall. It's not the correct way to deal with anybody, good or bad credit! Merry Christmas.
