My husband and I both found our own separate private policies because both of our employers offered lousy group plans. I work for a large national MTSO who just switched to ADP and claimed that ADP's large size/buying power would give us a great health plan, but that was not the case at all. I get a better plan with private insurance and the cost difference is negligible. Honestly, I believe that employers are claiming this is the best we can do with their lousy plans with the specific goal of getting the bulk of employees to seek out insurance on their own, so that eventually they (the employer) can give up offering it AT ALL due to lack of interest and therefore a savings for them. Conspiracy theory? Nah, just going by what I see.
