We're not talking trying something that "may" taste good to some. We're talking people's livelihoods here. Some can't afford to just "try it" if they're living paycheck to paycheck.

not every company is well liked by all MTs. If I listened to every gripe and groan on here, I'd be in a different business, BUT...I'm happy with Transcend and intend to stay. Sorry it didn't work for you.

WOW!! That's not just 2 cents, that's an analogy
that I think is frighteningly TRUE. I don't know why I never looked at the MT business by holding it up to the mirror of domestic violence, but you are RIGHT - it's exactly the same means of control. And it doesn't even have to be done in a mean way, either. How many of us think we're doggone LUCKY to have our pittance-paying MT jobs?

And I do mean PITTANCE! Last night when I finished my shift, I was looking at different types of jobs that were available. And get this -- I found a job listing for one of those 'sign-wavers' you see on street corners (always on the hottest days or the wettest ones, it seems), pays $11 an hour. That's $3 an hour MORE than I'm currently making as an MT with almost 35 years of experience.

one does not need to respond in kind to something that they perceive as rude. It only makes matters worse. Perhaps she WAS looking for the swarm of bee responses that she received, but that does not make the swarm of bees correct in how they handled it either. My point is that there is just too much *eagerness* to attack others on this board. It appears that some are to the point of salivating at the opportunity to do so and will go to any lengths, picking apart posts that *annoy* them, searching for the opportunity to let loose their viciousness. It is just plain sickening how some people treat other people. now this bee is outa here too. I have had my say.

You are right on. Some of us are old enough to remember when we worked directly for the hospital. Rarely, if ever, was there a shortage of work. There is no shortage now either regardless of the economy. What there is is an oversupply of typists. With the health care reform on the table, hospitals need to cut costs associated with their necessary medical record department. Are they saving money by outsourcing? I think not.

Only the American workers in any industry can change the way they are treated. They must band together by whatever means, not necessarily unionization per se. While it is about unionization, I would suggest everyone get and watch the movie Norma Rae. The point is change doesn't happen without those who are willing to make personal sacrifices to see it happen.

You'd do better as a Walmart Greeter, Dollar Store Clerk or flipping burgers. All of which are in demand jobs as we all shop there. The offer of 1 cpl is so insane and purely shameful! You would even get better pay than 1 cpl sitting home on your couch collecting welfare. That company just irks the life out of me for this and I don't even know who they are.

There's never been a month that they couldn't find anything on a particular report of mine to complain about so they said that I put a comma in the wrong place just to have a mistake to document.

Plus, their QA on the account you mentioned is INSANE
If you're not one of their personal favorites, they will keep picking, picking, picking, tearing your work apart making sure you have at least a few errors - you know earth-shattering, life-threatening ones like putting a comma somewhere they don't approve of, just to make SURE you don't get that highest pay rate. Then next time you change it to what they said it was supposed to be last time it's wrong that way too - you have to have mistakes on your reports you know!

I don't care if they don't believe me. I'm the one getting paid. What do I care if they don't believe me? I can understand the problem with others getting hired in at higher rates, but truly that is their situation, not mine.

you get no respect... here is the deal... many women want to work from home to be there for the kids... the MTSOs know this and push what anyone will put up with to the limits. It ain't worth it.
