I went from CLEARING
$1,300-PLUS per PAY PERIOD to $600 per PAY PERIOD, a loss of approximately $1,500 per month, and I'm talking about straight transcription, not editing.
Thanks for clearing that up for me

Clearing things up...
I work for Shapin Medical Transcription. We recently had to let a few editors go for not turning their work in within TAT. In fact, they had these same files for A WEEK and we still gave them a chance; however, we do NOT want to have clients leave because of this. These editors were given plenty of chances and they chose NOT to do anything; therefore, they did not make any decent amount of money and they were let go. Those who are still with us as editors and actually do their work are very happy with both the job and the amount of money they are making. Those posting negatively towards Shapin are the lazy editors not the current happy employees. YES, i agree the line rates are low; however, i have had many comments to the effect WOW i am making more money here than i did on my last job and that is because we have CONSISTENT work. There are not days where you sit and wait and wait and wait for work...it DOES NOT happen, as with most companies! If you want more information you are welcome to contact me. I will hide nothing!
That is good to know. Thank you for clearing that up. nm

Clearing things up
This thread started out to inform MTs about subcontractors and getting the pay deserved. Ask a company if this is their own account or if they are hiring for a larger company. For those of you who are confused, TTD hires for many of the same companies that you can get hired on to by yourself. The only difference is, TTD pays you significantly less for the same job and account, you work as an IC, no benefits, no rights. The national is the one that sets you up on the account, supplies your password, everything. Being an MT is not easy work and we shouldn't be giving part of our pay to a subcontractor. These subcontractors shouldn't even exist in the first place. It is a total scam. Just be smart and be educated in who you work for and what your line rate should be. If you don't agree and you are perfectly fine working for less, then don't worry about it. Some of us consider being an MT a profession, others a hobby and some people only need to supplement their income. I need a FT job with benefits and decent pay. That's it! I just think it is important to know all the facts.
Thanks for clearing that up! I get absolutely
Appreciate the info!

Thank you, Tammy, for clearing things up for us. We are certainly
looking forward to your All American business taking off and becoming a great success. It was a kind gesture that you took the time to explain your business plan. Not many companies are that open.
