At the time I started my company, neither I, nor my lawyer (apparently) or anyone in this part of the country had even heard of outsourcing to India and I honestly had never even heard of national transcription companies. I'm local, I provide transcription for local doctors and it never occurred to me that naming my company was going to be that big of an issue. I checked into a domain and the only name similar to mine was another transcriptionist in Oklahoma. Since the name wasn't trademarked and there are literally hundreds of Heartland this and thats in Nebraska, I honestly didn't consider it a big deal. Perhaps I still won't since I don't hire foreign workers or recruit nationally. I think I'll check with my account and another lawyer before I make a hefty financial decision. Thanks for your input though.
I just happened to notice in the archives that people use Heartland without actually saying WHICH Heartland they're talking about. After doing some research, I finally found out it was Spryance/Heartland Information Services.
