Give a girl a break...
Why aren't people allowed to speak here without always getting chewed up and spit out and told what a dumb u&^^%$$#@@*** they are? Ask some questions. Offer a similar experience. Hey person with head cut off, how might we support you, or did you just need to vent? I just had a few days of that, put me into a tailspin. I'm unfortunately not in a place to be able to ride with it. Lovely, nice company, however. It was temporary and my mind was put to ease. I just WISH I had the liberty to ride it; unfortunately, I just can't right now. So, problem solved for me, but I hear you loud and clear. I rather get tired of being married to this thing 20 hours/day. I'd scale tall buildings for these nice people, but mortgages are mortgages..hang in there. It really doesn't mean your're an ungrateful jerk if you fret over no income. Why do forums make people so cranky? I think I'm going to do a study on the sociology of the virtual community. It's interesting.
Thank you for posting. All I was trying to do was to give some
hope out there to all those unhappy, crabby MTs out there. It took a while but I did not give up and I found a good fit. I was just trying to pass on the luck, not trying to start an argument over who makes what. Also, gave the name of the company because I believe MDI is looking for MTs, not to make other MTs of MDI angry and bitter.
Thanks, and as a post script, I must say I'm SICK of being...sm
the international welfare system! As above poster said, charity begins at home. This country is deteriorating to the nth degree because we have that horrid Big Brother syndrome. This country had better get some leaders soon that can rectify this, or we'll be in the same mess India is in and that AmericanMT feels so sorry for!
If you can't give reasons, don't bother posting.

I agree also. Nice post. I'm so sick of asking one question
and getting a lot of really nice educated help and advice and then there are the negative mongers who go way off subject and ream you out for asking questions. What is the deal anyway. I've never seen so many negative people in one area or profession before. Quite honestly, there are some days when I sit here bored out of my mind and then it starts wandering to everything else but work. I find that I pick at stupid things and sometimes I feel like the social isolation is responsible and it starts making you fruity. So, I will just assume when people are attacking others that this job is just getting to them in some way. This is supposed to be a support group. I may not agree with everything I see but I am not going to rip someone apart. Let's stay support and objective. Everyone has something to offer, let's just to it kindly and intelligently.
You should take the post of 3/7/2007 off about similar posting
just a suggestion. Again, nothing bad was said by poster, but it does have the phrase over and over again.
I apologize for not knowing that you are not interested in what happens on other boards.
Just came upon this post and LOVE it, thanks for posting, have one thing to add....sm
This past year I had a lot of changes, some okay, some pretty bad, but one of the only consistently bright spots has been my job this past year since Februry. Just wanted to share, as they are hiring, perhaps someone else would not like this position, but I have been MT for close to 30 years and feel very compensated, cared for, content, un-stressed, and happy.
My company is on the west coast. They have many accounts from clinic/acute care, sports medicine, ER, primnary care, and just about every specialty. They truly strive to match up each MT with primary accounts, and also with accounts you are familiar/comfortable/proficient in. Work is strictly IC, and they truly work it that way. You basically choose hours/how many/when, there are no weekends unless you want to work, no holiday coverage (unless you want!), very flexible with personal days, sick days, etc, as long as there is sufficient notice for coverage; pay is always corret and ON TIME, although we are paid monthly; Yes it was a drawback the first month, but after that I just took that fat check and budgeted it, no problem.
One of the best things is that we are paid by the GROSS LINE, which is a line is a line is a line, everything counts, spaces, returns, macros, certain headers, it adds up fast and to the the MT's benefit, believe me.
Our platform is MedRite XL on Crescendo network, very easy, fast, user-friendly, Word-based, all you need is a high-speed connection, Windows XP, sound card and foot pedal, training is very laid back, kind, helpful, and very rapid if you have been an MT for quite a while. My boss was just asking me if I knew any fairly seasoned, dependable, well-rounded MTs, and although I have a few friends in the field, they are busy with other jobs they have been at for a long time....I am not a salesperson, I am not a headhunter or anything, never even been QA, I actually over regular old transcription, but I really love this company, I have had some horrible experiences, and these folks have been a JOY to work for this past year. Please feel free to e-mail me with questions, I did not give the name so as not to be too much of a cheerleader. Happy, peaceful, prosperous, and very healthy new year to everyone out there!
I thnk the "Perhaps" post was aimed at ABC's posting above it.
That person did nothing but come on the board to cause trouble and stir up stuff!
That was NOT in my post. Too bad your posting skills are not as sharp as your criticizing ones. nm

girl-on-girl crime
Being remote, it makes it easy for someone to mess with your life if you get them angry, especially if they can manipulate line counts and the type of work you get.
Perhaps that is why most of us don't speak up more, although that is precisely why we should.
Who's going to be the overseer for this industry, to make sure that all is conducted fairly and within the law? I don't think anybody outside the industry cares that much. There are much bigger things to worry about right now, I guess.
Peace.
I can also give you a positive post. sm
I also work at Spheris and have had a very good experience. Great supervisor, good accounts, nice team.
Prepared to be bored and much more. sm
I did legal for 9 years. I even went on to get my paralegal degree too. I loved the research, client interviews, etc., but the transcription is boring with a capital B. Tons and tons of formatting and forms as everything is different for each area of law and has to be done just so.
I was good at it, but ended up moving and couldn't find legal. I love MT so much more than legal. So much more interesting and a lot more money.
If you think healthcare is a tough field, wait until you deal with lawyers. If you want to stay at home and If you're going to go legal, study court reporting. That's where the interesting stuff is and the big bucks. Most legal transcription is inhouse so that the lawyers can have you schedule, answer phones, greet clients, take care of their trailing dockets AND do the transcription which they generally crab about if it's not done in a timely fashion even though the phone rings off the hook all day.
And if you work for a lawyer inhouse, buy suits, nice shoes and a briefcase (with an extra pair of nylons in case you get a run) and make sure your car doesn't look bad next to their caddy. They generally don't like that. :)
I did have one really great lawyer I worked for that didn't really care about all of that, but he also didn't really care about paying all that much.
Good luck!
I agree. Think DK is just bored.

JADED, BORED... sm
I think they are jaded and bored, dictating into their chests as they click through computer screens and arrowing down for lab values, sometimes I think they are going to break the keyboard, TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP (heavy sigh) TAP TAP TAP.. I think to myself, Geeze, this is not great for me either buddy.
Umm, MDI doesn't know who she is by her post so she isn't obligated to give a good exp.
I'm sure MDI doesn't appreciate the lies and people posting like they know something when they don't but I doubt they mind someone posting in their defense re: pure crap posts.
I am having the slowest week of my life..so bored! nm
nm
Love new job, people, platform etc. but BORED (sm)
The accounts I have are under 200 beds, hardly any ops and those are most Csections, EGD, colonoscopies. Hardly even a chole or appy. New enough I don't want to really complain to my supervisor. Thinking about picking up PT job just to keep my skills up in OP department. Used to working 500 to 800 bed hospitals with lots of exciting ops. Should I shut up and be glad I like the comany?
Not surprised. BTW, I'm bored with Iraq - I hope
.
Then I guess you aren't missing anything. If bored, go do next week's
Get a grip.
You can post a resume unlike the one you provided your current employer and give yourself
a name like Provided Upon Contact. Set up a hotmail or yahoo email and go that route. When services contact you (and they will if you have what they're looking for) and it's not the service you work for presently, then you can respond to them.
Good Luck.
I'm the OP, just asking about extra hours in case I'm bored over the weekend and I've alrea

Well help a girl out!
Where did you get it? How?
Go on girl!

I am an old PRD girl myself and (sm)
the ESP Expander that is written into the ExTex program reminds me of that; however, I also use my shorthand.
You Go Girl!!!!!

I'm with YOU, girl! - nm

sorry not that girl
i work on mdnetwork which is a great plaform but def do not get to cherry pick. who cares though, all the docs are great so it doesnt really matter to me one way or another.
You go girl!! (sm)
Too many want all the perks of a work-at-home job and the perks of a 9-5 run office situation.
I suppose they also want their dentist and doctor to work around their schedule also.
Not a recruiter, just tired of hearing the griping and inflexibility so many seem to have anymore, not everyone, just some.
You go girl!!

Yes please continue. Thank you so much. It helps me to focus on what my goal is and if something is not aligned with that, discard it. You never know who is posting on the other end and it may be their desire to have you stop, all the more reason to continue.
Right on, girl!
You said what I think every day -- afraid to check how many hours I really work, setting up each and every job in a software platform that makes me take my hands off the keyboard every 2 seconds. It is a waste of my time, but I doubt I could ever return to the world where you dress up every day, get in a car, fix my hair, get my nails done, etc. I have many regrets about doing this work, but those stated above are not amont them. My regrets are yours - no raises, no appreciation, and knowing that the big guys travel back and forth for meetings (what a joke in this day and age of online meetings). If only they split all that money up for us poor
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!

you go, girl! I'm very happy with MQ...and have been for
no one likes to hear that, though! So I have to work a little harder to make a little more money, so what? I'm a big girl, I can handle it!
You just said everything that I was thinking also...you go girl!!!

To Texas Girl...
Actually, my BOB - 10+ accounts for which I have 3 primary accounts out of - has standardized client profiles, no need look at client profile for each account or try to remember different rules. All now have the same formatting rules and ADT info requirements and very few dictator-specific differences. I realize that not all service areas have done this yet and not all areas of MQ are managed the same and I probably would not be as happy if I were in one of those, but I stuck it out and they made the changes promised in my area and I am now so much more productive. The accounts are better than I had before MQ as far as number of ESL and other difficult dictators, the ASR reports on average are good and I can more than make up for the 30% cut in pay on them - only get on average 5 or 6 a day though.
I guess it depends on where you end up when hired at MQ how good or bad things are. I have moved around a lot over many years in this business and probably will stay here until retirement if I am able - depending on what happens with CBay and all. I have found the right fit for me with MQ with adequate pay, the schedule I want, plenty of work, reliable paycheck and PTO - a big plus after a stint being IC, and nobody hanging over my shoulder watching my every move. The only time I ever hear from anybody is in answer to a question I have asked and the daily TAT logs from my PS. That is the way I like it, leave me alone to do my thing. I have no reason to leave.
I am glad you found the right place for you, having only one account that is always busy is the best situation to be in. You are lucky because that is not so easy to find anymore.
you go, girl, i know exactly what you are talking about
x
Woohoo...you say it girl!!!
I get so sick of people not taking pride in their work and if everyone did there would not be so much complaining about it...
Hey girl! Email me.......sm
Your old TMTS friend, LOL!
GEORGIE GIRL...
I do clinic notes too. Just curious how long you've been with your current company and how much experience you have? I'm getting ready to post mine. Thanks!
I was a Girl Scout
I'm always prepared :) LOL!
I don't keep all the eggs in 1 basket because I have been around this track a few thousand times. It's also why I make sure I can use all the new modes of transcription to my advantage. I think that's key to the future of MT. Keep your skills up, and not just your typing skills. Learn. Network. Have the quality to back all that up. You'll have work.
Southern Girl
I have a friend up in San Francisco and she bought this nasty little starter home in a dangerous neighbrhood (gangs, drugs, but it was the only place she could afford to buy) for $350,000K. They are afraid to go out of their house at night. I once saw a two-bedroom condo listed in the SF paper for 2.2 million.
thats what ya call girl power!!!

Thanks, green eyed girl!!! If I end up getting a new job,
I hope I can count on you for help when all of my resources are exhausted. How long have you worked for the company you currently work for?
are you kidding? no more games. GO-GIRL! n.m

You GO girl! Have unforgetable holidays.
Please don't get me wrong. Love every decade. I like the water. I dislike sinking ships and, regrettably, this is certainly one of many. Pathetic...I feel your loss.
Technology. Imagine 2026...........
Hey girl, greetings from the northwest coast of Fla. sm
did you take that ASR test yet? I know Spheris has a few new accounts coming on board too but I don't think you'd want to go back to that. Cornerstone was not my cup of tea but loved TWS. If something isn't broke, don't fix it.
