Thank you, Annie...yes

I have just spent over 3 weeks researching jobs and applying for dozens of places but there is not a lot out there. What is out there is mostly 7 to 8 cents/line, and then all at my own expense; my own computer, my own software, etc. I am seeing a lot of 'hiring freeze' messages at smaller companies, and the larger ones only seem to want slave labor, at least for new employees. I actually really like the company I am at now and think they are in the top tier but I just cannot get anywhere with them anymore. They have me in check no matter what I do...
I agree about the CMT being a waste of money, that is why in almost 20 years I have never bothered with it - never found the need really to justify the expense...

Annie ?
Do you mind if I ask who you work for? I have been looking for an IC job with a higher turnaround time as I the company I have been with recently changed to no ICs and with a set schedule. Email me if you want. Thanks much. :)
MDI - To Annie
I don't think it is rose-colored glasses - work is slow EVERYWHERE in this industry - just read through the other posts. MDI is probably the most flexible place I've ever been - no schedule, just make a line count commitment and do it (right now, that is difficult, but it's feast or famine in this biz).... I took on a part time job that lasted 1 day because of the amount of sending, resending and transmitting involved....it just was not worth the line rate, but at least I realized it right from the get go and didn't stay on to make the company or myself crazy....I am on a different part time job now that is going to be great once I get my glossary up and running. And at MDI, what could be easier to use than Bayscribe? Although I'm not thrilled with the low workload, I am sure that with my part time job, which is a very busy one, I'll stay afloat until things pick up at MDI again. You can't be in the biz for 25+ years like Dorothy has and not know what you're doing...too much outsourcing has become rampant in this industry also by other companies. Then, those Indian companies have the audacity to post ads (and I saw one on an MT job site) for editors to QA them to make the work right! Talk about running around in circles...Sorry for the long post - once my fingers get flying, it's hard to top them.
Attention Annie
.
I agree with Annie ...
Neither of these two companies are strong winners. Lots of negatives posted in the archives.
have either you or Annie worked for either place?
