They take your lines from, send rude e-mails daily, never answer your questions, and have about 90% ESL.  Too bad you took the job as I would recommend you go elsewhere.

they have their problems and outpoints, just like every other company.

Despite the fact that a lot of MTs will divulge their pay rates, I won't, as [like most of us] I'm contractually obligated to NOT divulge such info (it's just that most people ignore that and post away anonymously anyway). Suffice it so say they're pretty average.

Nice people (in general), though a bit disorganized and not very good at communicating.

Their platform -- actually, they have two, both of which are proprietary.

The percentage of ESLs (and bad dictators, in general) will vary with the account. I have some horribly bad ones on my account, not so much due to accent but they're the whispering kind, which is even harder to do, IMO.

Be aware that they're prone to be low on work from time to time.
It really won't take too terribly long.
Work on your normals. If you haven't used Shorthand before, look for the tips on the message board. Utilize all the samples they provide from the community web page, and absolutely utilize the see last 50 reports by dictator feature. You'll be whizzing along in no time.

They seem to be terribly disorganized, trying to
change procedures, added new staff, adding lots of new accounts and I guess they are just overloaded.  I would definitely recommend a phone call.  Usually after that things get rolling.
Scribe - terribly slow..they always sm
blame your ISP and don't seem to care. It takes over 30 sec to load a document - WAY too slow when you are typing 200 minutes a day! Bayscribe is by far one of the best I've ever worked on.
Mine slowed down terribly, too, only I couldn't uninstall it.
I finally did disk cleanup and put all my pix and what not on a jump drive and it's running at a tolerable speed but not like it was.

I worked for them. Very unorganized and...

at one time they decided to not pay for any report with anything QA (and QA was a real joke) could call an account-specific error.  There were hundreds of pages of account specifics.  Even worse than that was that within the same account, there were doctor specifics...and hundreds of doctors!  By the time you figured out who wanted what, you wasted a tremendous amount of time. 


My QA person was not an MT - never had been.  She had a BOS and maybe 2 Stedman's Word Books, but she knew it all. 


I do know they have more accounts than they used to, and the "Gerger" of Gerger-Moretti is gone, so maybe things have changed.


They are the most unorganized place ever. sm

is after being offered a position three times by this company over the past few years and each time I have been turned off by how unorganized they are over there.  I had the same experience this past week with them not getting back to me.  Then they did and told me about two positions.  I told her the one I was interested in but needed an answer about the ins.  Then they called me back the next day but she forgot why I was even waiting for the call and then to top it off was told the position that I was interested was no longer available.  This is the third experience with them.  I don't have time to tell you about the first two.  Incredible.  I have a better job offer from TT (actually to return back to them on a better account) and Axolotl which I will decide on by tomorrow, and another from Transcend which I am turning down but Transcend is right on, very organized, answered all my questions, and told me what all she had available and I picked the one I wanted, no surprises and no being left hanging, immediately sent me the ins info by email before we even got off the phone!  That is the way a company should be run as far as HR is concerned.  The two that I am deciding on also are very efficient in answering ALL questions in a TIMELY MANNER and are organized.  Debbie is great and Axolotl is very very nice and polite and immediately sent me the information I needed such as INSURANCE.  I need to have questions answered before accepting a position.  I will not go in blindly.  I have a chronically sick daughter for crying out loud and some companies did not even have the decency to respond to me on ins. so they got nothing back from me.  Oh and get this when I finally did get the ins. information from KS it was this!! http://www.geoaccess.com/phcs/po/  No information on nothing, just a provider look up and when you click on the home icon and travel your way through the website trying to find info there is nothing that states anything about what the coverage is!!


I will never apply for KS again.  Three strikes and your'e out!!

When I worked for Inscribe last year, it was very unorganized...was hired and then it took them months to get me actually working. As soon as I got an account and started making money on it, they would pull me and put me on another account so I didn't make as much. I got pulled 3 times in about 2 1/2 weeks so I was not making any money. Also, yes, they do charge you for any mistakes that they have to fix. When they make a correction, they fax you a copy of the correction and when they did that, if they have trouble with their fax, that time is taken out of your pay. Ridiculous huh? Also, when I would go to get work, there was never any to pick up. When I inquired about this, I was told to sign on to another account and get work there but none of those accounts had work either. I would maybe get 1/2 work for the 4 hours shift I was scheduled. I still keep in contact with a woman that was one of the originals helping to get this company off the ground. She left because they were so disorganized. I quit after about 5 months of trying anything to get this to work. I went back to getting my own accounts and now am also in college for accounting. Definitely more money in that line of work!

They have offices in Nashville and Carlsbad, I know. I was all hyped to work for them but it was such a disappointment. They kept losing my paperwork and were adamant about your hours worked. The recruiter was horrible, but now they have the former SPI recruiter, so who knows? The manager was ridiculous. Not far, very nasty tempered.

I have been with QT since the beginning, have been
looking the past year.  Every decent offer I've gotten comes from a company who offshores and I've turned it down because I don't support it.  M did say there were working on something though back when we were getting the Friday e-mails. 
I am beginning to think we all should
and then when we sit, like I did today for four hours with NO WORK, we can jump to the other account.

If they are going to over hire and spread out the work, our response should be similar in logic.

That was the first sign of bad things to come for me. My line counts dropped quite a bit, then they added VR, and of course the cesspool soon after, which was disastrous. I went from making 25.00 an hour to maybe 10.00 if I was lucky. However, I did think it was a great platform, only problem was manipulating line counts.

I had a little trouble in the very beginning

getting my direct deposit going, but on time every time since.  I started 6 months ago.  I checked BBB and found them to have a BB rating, which is a good rating according to the BBB themselves. 


 


I hate being paid late myself, it is really frustratign and has happened to me far times than I can remember, but I am sure they will work things out with you.

I worked for Cymed and stayed with SPi. I hate it. Absolutely. TAT is so tightly controlled that there is almost never any work. It totally sucks. And they don't give a damn about us MTs. Just in it for the money. A HORRIBLE company.

it is not actually 30 days, it is just the beginning because....
you get paid on the 15th and last day of the month.  You submit your invoice on the 16th and 1st.  So right now, if you were working you would submit your invoice on the 16th and get paid on the last day of the month.  After that, you would be paid every 2 weeks.
No not now. Through beginning of March I did though.
It was awful, awful, awful.

I actually have a very large primary, so I am quite surprised we were out and you weren't. Usually everyone else is in the pool for 2 or 3 days before I hit it. When it hits us, we know they're very low on work.
A trend beginning...
About 6 months ago, Keystrokes and Transtech were the 2 best companies going on...and now 6 months later, we are reading all negative about the both of them.  Go figure.  It all comes down to finding the right company for you. 
So maybe this is the beginning of a new trend - sm
in American Transcription? Turning it back into a REAL job again! If what this site says is true, I'd be surprised if this didn't become the best MT company and most sought-after employer in the Northeast. I know I'd rather have MY records transcribed at a place like that, and not in Bangalore or Manilla. I wish them every success, and that that other MTOSs will follow suit!
I use it quite a bit, but it was slow in the beginning. sm
If you get the regular version instead of the medical one, you need to program it for drug names, diagnoses, etc because it doesn't know any of them. But you can train it to recognize those words and once you do that, it really goes pretty quick. You still have to watch and go over your work when you're done - kind of like VR editing, because you're never quite sure what it's going to think you said. It's worth a try, espeically if your transcription is a lot of conversational work, like psych reports or H&Ps. Good luck to you! =)

When you are put on a new account, they give you also 2 weeks' time to get used to it, isn't it?
I'm beginning to see a pattern
and that being how every time new accounts are brought on, and more MTs hired, then they are 'temporarily' spread onto other accounts, driving the workload into the ground. I am no manager, but there has got to be another way. I've been trying wait for all this to normalize, and every time it does, then it quickly deteriorates into a new account coming on board situation. I cannot keep rearranging my hours dramatically to compensate. Been doing this way to many years to take all the crappy hours/days to make ends meet. As great as MDI is, they must do something differently or else they'll just have to keep retraining, rather than keeping their good help.
I started there at the beginning of this year, and..
have had no problems whatsoever. Never had to call even once about a late paycheck. I have the schedule that they gave me sitting in front of me right now. It gives all of the pay periods through 12/31/05, and the exact date that the check will be deposited in the bank. It has never been late; always on time. You can even go online a few days before your scheduled deposit, and see the amount that is going to be deposited on pay day. Are you sure she worked for the same company?
It's been happening since the beginning of time.
Jobs get phased out and are no longer needed.

I don't know any blacksmiths, mule skinners or pony express delivery people.

But live in your world of denial if you want to. That's up to you. I'm going where there is a future, and that's not this industry.

I'm just beginning to job hunt and I'm askeered.

There are like a gazillion MT's looking for work now, right?  Why are some MTSO's still offering large hiring bonuses? I'd think they have more candidates than they can handle.


Do you reckon since the MTSO's do have so many applicants right now, that they might overhire just for fun to keep their TAT's down, and there will be a serious lack of work wherever I apply?


 



Beginning today all OSI MT's need to use holidays as PTO!
Don't stand for this total BS. Ask for PTO right now for the upcoming holidays!
That's what happens with me, too; it'll work at the beginning of the day but then not.
My tech guy said he'd look into it but I'm thinking it's just a glitchy program.
